Wasted 2 days tweaking ffxv wondering why 2080 perform so bad because of endless stuttering hitching and random crashes only found out game is having problem since October

Lol... imagine the price of a xx70 card > can already get a pre-owned GTX 1080 or add a bit more a new GTX 1080

Cheapest RTX 2070: RM2559
Cheapest RTX 2080: RM3599
Cheapest RTX 2080 Ti: RM5399

I am not against the RTX cards but really can't pull the trigger on tech that have yet to take off. You're basically paying premium for RTX/DLSS but with GTX 1080/1080 Ti performance for RTX 2070/2080 respectively. Of course the 2080 Ti is a class of its own with an exorbitant price tag to match.

So far I've seen JayzTwoCents, Hardware Unboxed and GamerNexus (by far the most comprehensive) and its the same sentiment across biggrin.gif

Not sure how Ray Tracing will perform on RTX 2070... I heard the game "Control" by Remedy ran at 60fps at 1080p with RTX on a 2080 Ti blink.gif

https://wccftech.com/nvidia-rtx-9-2-ms-remedy-northlight/

So either go full in RTX 2080 Ti or wait for 30-series is my advice la else grab a 10-series GPU for a lot lesser... haha

Me... I'm waiting patiently for the arrival of my 4K display to pair with my 1080 Ti.

RTX 2070 looks pretty tempting to me though, currently using a 1050ti. Intending to use for 2k gaming

Just wondering, is a 8700k or a 8086k gonna bottleneck the 2080ti?

On 1080p and 1440p respectively.

1080p absolutely if you play at high refresh rates. No CPU in the world now does not bottleneck a 2080Ti at 1080p if pushing for 144hz. If it's just for 60hz, then just why? A 1060 6GB will also provide you 60fps for 4x less money.

1440p, less so but there is still a bottleneck but not significant.

Also, people forget about frametime fluidity and just focus on average FPS. The bigger the bottleneck, the more erratic the frametime is - with lots of spikes, juddering and inconsistent input latency. I'm surprised that we're nearly in 2019 and people still haven't figured out that average FPS means jackshit to how well and smooth a game runs.

There are ways to deal with bottleneck if playing at a lower resolution - like brute forcing the game to run at a higher internal resolution (DSR basically). Unfortunately not all games works well with DSR, it's unbelievable that there are games in 2018 that STILL do not have UI scaling at high resolutions. Then drivers can also screw up DSR (driver 411.63 - 411.70) by introducing a black screen bug and the only way to fix it is a hard reset.

seriously, unless you really need raytracing in your life, these cards are utterly pointless. hmm...just get GTX 1070TI can save more money to upgrade PC

Ditto to this. I’m going to wait till there’s a game which I love to play, which supports RTX before I buy any RTX card which can do 1440p 60fps with RTX ON (which pretty much mean Ultra preset). Looks like my RTX purchase is still years away.

The selling point for 2070 is DLSS not ray tracing. The difference between a 2070 using DLSS vs 1080 using TAA is pretty significant. You just need to be willing to bet on DLSS being a mainstream feature.

1070 ti oc versus 1080 oc is about 2-3% difference at 1440p and lower from what I know.

What about 1070 ti oc versus 2070 oc?

I'm very happy with my 1070 ti but.... So tempting to get two 2070s now.... Damn... Maybe if the galax 2070 oc white version ends up selling for below 2.4k here tongue.gif

Depends on game lah, Shadow of the Tomb Raider really pushing my CPU hard, all cores goes to 100% max and FPS down, in the town area...
I don't ahve chance to test on AMD R5/7 as still waiting for Zen 2, ima stuck at R3 1300x sweat.gif sweat.gif
While some old game like Doom 2016 can easily achieve 140fps on 1440P with my puny quad cores.

Totally forgot laz have official nvidia store.Still the we all know nvidia store is much expensive than it should sold from other shop.
Guess the price would be cheaper when release if possible before 11.11.

Guys, the zotac 1070ti has any problems? Are their warranty good compared to other brands?  I am guessing it's better to get the amp extreme rather than the normal one?
*
Message the seller whether it's import version or not .Some are import from oversea and check whether it's new. Some are refurbish from mining.

It consider a high improvement , try FF13 , you'll be surprise maybe even 2080ti run with framerate drop. biggrin.gif
So which area does it crash , try disable FF15 Hairworks. This setting even 1080 will have problem too.

Wait for price drop? biggrin.gif , just stick with 1080ti until your list of DLSS game support or RT support.Having 1080ti is more than enough.

Get a 4k monitor first suppose. And slowly upgrade, wait for 2050ti or 2060.Price right now is expensive.

Depends on game you wanted to play and setting you wanted to try.
If dota 2 , normal mid end would be enough.

Marketing ? , DLC pack with UI upscale or remake and new graphic card to fix the bug ?
High end GPU & CPU needed for smooth FPS game but other games , you don't notice much and even notice , it would affect much. It's not like you are competing with someone else.Taken FF15 as example.

If "Cyberpunk 2077" supports RTX, then I'll consider an RTX GPU big time...

Until then, I can't be bothered. I can't tell the difference between RTX ON/OFF for the 'Shadow of the Tomb Raider' demos biggrin.gif Do a blind test and I will fail.

Need more 'reflective' games like Remedy's title.

Still have to remember, game devs put priority for non-ray traced / rasterized first before ray traing so without RTX you are not going to 'lose anything' gameplay wise.

DLSS.... hmm... interesting, but if this is the selling point for RTX 2070, no thanks.

For prices to drop, it is going to take time, and it won't be anytime soon.
