Competition is good but everyone is only hoping AMD to come out with a competing high-end product so they can afford to buy the Nvidia part.
*
Same as the CPU counterpart, intel is currently giving out huge discount on Xeon for whoever consider the epyc server CPU.

Also people were happy since they saved quite a lot, but totally forgot the meltdown, spectre, and foreshadowe vulnerability on intel cpu

Real time ray tracing isn't Nvidia exclusive, it's just AMD didn't push the tech hard enough.

AMD GG already in pc gaming hardware , Navi is developed for consoles so there wont be any powerful gpus from AMD soon, they are more interested in console eco system.
*
Let just hope amd can gather enough resources to strike back with navi next year,
Else one will need to exchange a kidney just for 4k60fps ray tracing gaming with rtx 3080.

DLSS = performance boost in game or double the fps.
Only RTX 2080 can do DLSS or double performance ?

In long run , rtx 2080 is better but now,  no games support RT , less game with DLSS or even a few.DLSS more for FPS games.
But what happen if DLSS + RT together ? will it perform at 4k with stable 60pfs ?
*
If i recall correctly, they demode Realtime Ray tracing only at 1080p at ~30fps, DLSS +RT at 4K60FPS is a pipe dream bro, at current state.

LEL i think even 6 core is overkill today laugh.gif laugh.gif
*
Depends on game lah, Shadow of the Tomb Raider really pushing my CPU hard, all cores goes to 100% max and FPS down, in the town area...
I don't ahve chance to test on AMD R5/7 as still waiting for Zen 2, ima stuck at R3 1300x sweat.gif sweat.gif
While some old game like Doom 2016 can easily achieve 140fps on 1440P with my puny quad cores.

not gonna say where this came from but guess u all know what released yesterday

purely benchmarking purposes as i dont like this particular tomb raider since its more exploration than combat.

*
You would have disliked it even more if you got the game on first day, it runs like dog turd and most of the nvidia users had trouble playing the game.
Just run the game today and looks like they fixed the performance issue.

The performance hit still present on Kuwaq Yaku and the hidden city, due to CPU bound, I need to upgrade my cpu soon. sweat.gif

This is nice..

But even new rtx cards pun cant handle ray tracing very well..
*
There's always a multigpu option, one handle the rasterization, one dedicated to Ray tracing.
Moar way to milk customer lol

This new name scheme for Radeon quite confusing with rtx lol
*
Radeon has been usng RX for a while, then suddenly the nvidia decided comes up with RTX because of their realtime race tracing,
just look at AMD mobo line up, the chipset naming is more confusing, the only difference is AMD chipset does not use Z as prefix.

Yeah ik, but those rx3080 jump from rx590 quite a leap

The naming hasn't been confirmed, it's all from rumor mill site like wccftech, that's how they earn ads by spreading rumor.

That, and Radeon 3000 is a whole thousand more than GeForce 2000. Attempting to one-up the competition by throwing around bigger numbers can certainly seem juvenile, but studies have shown that this kind of marketing actually works. So make of it what you will.

Rememer how people call the Turing GPU? GTX 11xx.

One hot card, it use aluminium block instead of those high performance fin type heatsink.

Typical high performance heat sink will look like this

I thought that was the AMD way..GCN and polishing-re-polishing of Polaris. Turning failed MI60 into high end Radeon VII. At least Nvidia come up with a new architecture each generation, overpriced or not..lol
*
Salvaging a silicon with minor defects is nothing new,
People should be happy that, the smol company, AMD is still able to complete with 2 chip giant, although not in every segment.
and some poor folks like me still can afford an AMD gaming PC without selling of my kidney, or my other body parts to some other evil corporation, lol

Yeah AMD generally shine in the entry level and low-mid range sector. But that has not been the case for the past 3 ish years. AMD cards were relegated to mining cards only so, they were hard to get and really expensive, thus people bought the 1060 and 1050 Ti like crazy for gaming. AMD for poor people argument went out of the window when they released Vega and now Radeon VII. Same price as the RTX 2080, performs worse and consumes much much more power.
*
For highend GPU, they kinda shoot themselves in the foot, large die generally hard to produce, and HBM2 increased the cost, plus limited availability, shop jacked up the price ect.
Also don't expect the high end GPU to be cheaper, and another thing is, Vega has untapped power (NGG fast path, RPM, ect), i don't think any game is actually utilizing it, except the Vulkan where Vega and lower end tier will shine.

A lot of potential wasted, if AMD keep baking these features into GPU, may be they will get utilized somewhere in the future sweat.gif

Try to tune the casing fan speed within BIOS, i believe most mobo supports it,
as for GPU fan, you can try MSI Afterburner, by default the fan curve is tuned for silent mode rather than performance which might sounds like jet engine to some user.

You probably need Afterburner beta, as stable version might not work with nvidia latest GPU driver.
