adding on to the legacy CPU questions (4th Gen i7 4790K here ) and rtx 3070/3080, i suppose if you're aiming high refresh rate gaming it would matter, but if you're aiming RTX + 1440p60/4k60 (with DLSS) it wouldn't matter ? since RTX + 4k + DLSS are GPU bound functions ?
*
4790k overclocked would really be the borderline now with playability without much stutter (for now). I got stutters with my 6600k.

For me on the 60fps monitor part, you should get at least a high refresh rate monitor or one with gsync since this is nvidia's thread. Running lets say 55fps on 60Hz monitor(without gsync) isn't as smooth as running 55fps on 144Hz monitor (even without gsync), simply because on 144Hz monitor the display refresh many more times compared to 60Hz monitor, so screen tearing and overall smoothness is so much better on the 144Hz monitor.

DLSS renders the game at lower resolution than the monitor is set to, so that means CPU bottlenecks more biggrin.gif

I know because I'm in the same dilemma for my weak CPU.

I was considering the 3080, but seeing as how much of a bottleneck my i7 4790 non-k model is, I'm not sure if using the rtx 3080 on it would be a good idea  sweat.gif
*
What monitor are you using now? If it is 1440p or 4K maybe worth a try lol

I'll be in the same boat as you, depends on when I upgrade my CPU, I will definitely get one of the new RTX cards(will be used for other than games too), maybe will run bottlenecked with my 6600k too rclxub.gif

I'm currently on a 1080p 144hz monitor, but will upgrade to a 1440p 144hz monitor by year end. Good thing most of my use comes in the form of playing esports titles, else I'd be even more confused as to which to upgrade first.  tongue.gif
*
oh, then you'll be more confused. 1080p 144Hz isn't bad actually.

That being said, playing single player games on 1440p is nicer than 1080p because alot less issues on AA. But 4K 144Hz will be so so nice

I've sunk countless hours into Dota and CSGO and more recently Valorant and I'd say the 1080p 144hz Monitor I've had for the past 5 years has more than paid for itself! biggrin.gif

Though I'd like to upgrade to a 1440p 144hz display in preperation for Cyberpunk haha.

Are 4k 144Hz monitors readily accessible at a consumer level already? Haven't been keeping up with monitor news as of late unfortunately sweat.gif
*
NITRO XV273K is less than rm3k i think. Then there are some 1440p 144Hz IPS monitor for less than rm1500. So cheap now, 4 years ago I paid RM3150 for my acer 1440p 165Hz. But I never regretted paying that amount, it was a huge eye candy upgrade for me LOL

For those who are selling, just ignore those few suckers and trolls with their ridiculous buy offers. They can't force ppl to sell at their low out prices.
*
That's the price that is fair, for example rm2000 for a used rtx2080ti, because the performance landscape already changed. Brand new RM3.5k GPU RTX3080 gonna be around 30-40% faster than 2080ti, and you think second hand 2080ti still can ask for high asking price?

GPUs are not like classic cars that can retain value.

The buyers can just buy the new RTX3070 and RTX3080 anyways, it's just matter of choice if it is worth it to even consider a second hand 2080ti.

Asus will try to rip off people again as always
*
I used to get good luck on getting cheaper asus products last time, GTX1070 for less than rm2k when others were starting from rm2.2k-2.3k, then cheap GTX1060 3GB with great dual fan dense fin and heatpipe coolers.

Which brand of GPU that you guys liked more now?

Just ordered 750w PSU, B550M, and a PCIE4 SSD, and a new casing since F it, this is no different than buying a new PC lol
*
I'll be reusing my casing, remove the ssd cage and hdd cage to allow better airflow from bottom and side fans to the GPUs, then put the ssd and hdd to 5.25" drive slot with caddies biggrin.gif

MY doesnt work like dat.

ok some more info alot ppl dont know. last 15 years before turing.. MY distro/resellers will F dat nda .. and we get it on our hands.

turing.. nvidia asia pac step in and control gpu allocation to the country. all brands had to follow. and the Fed MY big time with few giga models and some asus dual models etc..
no FE cards

i want FE card or strix. its da only two i want. dis 3080 so overpowered even throttling da card is fine for me. resellers idealtech u can forget it. their internal customer builds demand so high all aib cannot even fullfill them. wont be suprised idealtech becomes a distro for them self .. question is which brand.. so they will tahpau alot of the first few batch.

i just hope they can produce alot. fed up with this wait shit. running to da shop. etc
*
Last time how much the price difference between strix 2080ti card and normal 2080ti cards?

uhm, kinda awkward if they benchmark with AMD during launch lol.
*
nah, it's just AMD current gen CPUs couldn't push the fps high enough to show the fps improvement of the new ampere cards. Nvidia used AMD Epic CPU for their latest generation DGX station iinm.

hi, I just wanna to tell u your claming about your ryzen BSOD issue may not correct .
actually it should have a chance to drop 1 or 2 or some threads..
for an unstable overclocking system both thread dropping and BSOD r happening, it shall happen with intel as well , if the overclocking if not stable (the 'stable' stable).

I guess we have a similar 'taste' of so-called 'stable' system, and I know what I'm doing.so , no need to blah blah blah...

For your ryzen issue, I guess u may try the CPU LLC tricks to trobleshoot the issue. but I guess your bad experince at ryzen cannot conclude to it is not a stable cpu,
ram and mobo also playing a big part here. I guess NVIDIA cannot agree that as well.  thumbsup.gif
*
Nvidia cannot agree? That's Epic CPU leh, server class not consumer

3090's 8K fps by Nvidia

user posted image

Also DLSS 2.1 update over 2.0:
– New ultra performance mode for 8K gaming. Delivers 8K gaming on GeForce RTX 3090 with a new 9x scaling option.
– VR support. DLSS is now supported for VR titles.
– Dynamic resolution support. The input buffer can change dimensions from frame to frame while the output size remains fixed. If the rendering engine supports dynamic resolution, DLSS can be used to perform the required upscale to the display resolution.

Highly doubt I'll be getting 8k in the next 10 years. Let alone 4k.

Thats what I can dig up from nvidia's website

But 4K 144fps is not a dream now

4K 144FPS is possible now. Its gonna cost you. Let the rich guys have their fun.
*
In max settings, and not $1000

Plus why would anyone gets annoyed from a fast part? Very puzzling, rtx2000 series slow = "not worth it", RTX3000 fast = "not like I'll be getting those for the next 10 years" doh.gif

lets see on 3080/3090, with DLSS enabled games might see CPU bottlenecks on some games

Are Galax midrange cards ok? Shouldn't have heat issue right?
Galax RTX 2060 super ex white
*
Never had issues with my Galax GTX1070ti Ex
But that 1070ti was replacement for two consecutively burnt Galax GTX1070 Katana (single slot blower) lol. I think the katana had design flaws. The 1070ti Ex is great.

asus updated their website for the new 3000 series. TUF 3080 seems to utilize 2.7 slot form factor, with separate VRAM heatsink. Hopefully they have this in stock

should work well, I had sapphire r9 290 that's rated at 275 watts before and the 2 slot triple fan cooler works fine. And now these triple fan coolers are even better lol

Leaks say that Nvidia will be bringing the full GA104 die as 3070 Ti/Super with 16 GB after AMD strikes. Also, possible is 3080 Ti/Super with more SM enabled but not the full GA102 die as in the 3090 and with 20 GB. For best efficiency, the 3070 Ti/Super looks appealing.
*
it's always like that, new 8nm process need to lower core counts for better yields. When yield are more mature after sometime can release full die.
