come let me test.
alot of ppl are naive on da meaning of stable
good fps etc

example of a village idiot

*
which system do you recommend for stability, Intel or AMD. Planning to run 2-3 GPUs nonstop compute and at times I would leave the computer to let it run. Only consumer system cos I don't need crazy stable with ECC ram like that. Thank you.

Intel z370s ..

Z390 got weird
Z490 overpriced weird

intel x299 are very stable btw.
i actually wanted 10980xe rm4k only.. but cannot find one
its a steal if u can find it..

evga x299 dark now on sale.
Amd wait for da next ryzen 3.. When thry cant fix.. they move on to da next.

What will be interesting is da next mobo.. it will be da culmination of platforms from board makers.
*
what do you mean by weird for the z390 and z490?

z390 vrms on mobo changed from z370.

z370 was actually better and cooler

z490 daisy motherFing chain topology. also weird stuff in ram aida etc
*
but if picking 10600k that don't oc much won't need very robust vrm right? or stock 10700f

10700 also dont really need.

ppl are over hyping da power draw. gaming is only like 60-70watts in most games. peak on daily arnd 139-140 burst.
thats about it. dats 5.2ghz 10900k ya.
*
what happens when ryzen zen 2 have stability issues?

unexplained bsod .. dis maybe mobo/bios etc
unexplained performance drop

btw ryzen u need to test benchmark at not just voltage stability with vcore etc. cause performance might drop.
its a weird thing.
*
It happens on even stock settings? never knew ryzen had this kind of issues on the latest gen, I thought it was only the first gen ryzens.

My only experience with stability is my geforce cards are so much more stable and have less issues than when I had radeon cards (r9 290,hd7870 etc).

My current intel system although mixed breed with unoptimal parts, it doesn't have much stability issues.

yeah stock. i tested for 4 days. gave up. just on stock.
also almost any game discussion i been in steam. 100% got ryzen user complain
even now in ocn got few ppl bsod their 3900x stock on prime.
not surprising cause stock intel cpu doesnt depend much on mobo or bios optimization
*
Wow thank you sifu, you just saved me potential headache in the future. I need a stable system for the things I'm planning to run shocking.gif
Maybe I'll just get a 10400f and msi b460 mortar, or 10600k & msi z490 A-Pro, I want to run 2 gpus for compute. Then see what the future holds for zen 3 and next gen intel.

I'm considering RTX3080 ady haha

They put bigger gap in performance between 3070 and 3080 now vs 2070 and 2080, but 3080 and 3090 is much closer now.

1070 - 379
2070 - 599
3070 - 399

that's not a price hike, that's more like christmas haha.

RTX3070 is basically 2/3 of RTX3080 except the VRAM

Hopefully this card is not affected by the weird 0.5GB RAM 'glitch' that plagued the GTX970 tongue.gif
*
3070 and 3080 using different chips, 104 vs 102.

seems like nvidia trying to push more units of rtx3080 even though cannibalizing 3090's sales.

30TFlops shaders, wonder how fast it can run cuda apps now

The price gap between 3090 and 3080 is major stop gap.
*
yeah, previously 2080 isn't that much faster than 2070 (then smaller gap between 2080 super and 2070 super) so ppl picked 2070/2070 super over 2080/2080super. Now they are salvaging the inferior chips of 102 to make a better 80 series card, to make people skip over the 3070. But now 3080 and 3090's performance is too close, so they put 24GB on 3090, probably for rich people or people that needed the big ass VRAM for compute apps like 3d rendering (no need very expensive pro cards for certain apps)

Now waiting for the real benchmarks... 'relative performance' from official presentations usually don't paint the overall performance picture and nVidia can always tilt the figures to their favor tongue.gif
*
I seriously think even 10900k will bottleneck the 3080 on current game engines, so the fps advantage might not be high, only visible on 4K probably

DLSS also means more cou bottleneck on current cpu gen.

RTX 3080 really more than double the performance of GTX 1080 Ti from their charts. Still gotta wait for benchmarks.
Crank up the AA.

"You there, work harder!"
*
but many big titles have dlss, makes the fps even higher lol
4K reso but rendered with 1440p. My 1440p monitor will render at 1080p.
pcie gen4 data direct to gpu now, fuh fast loading times

Holy moly

Kinda glad that PCI-E didn't seriously bottleneck the performance of RTX3080, and 10900k OC can still show the strength of the RTX3080.

Its right there 10900k@5ghz 3600 ram

If i remember correctly they made a video its on a m12 hero.

Before this 8700k@5 was their default
*
ya, thats why i mentioned good thing the 10900k still can drive the rtx3080 fine even on pci-e 3.0

600w psu can support this cards?

nvidia recommends 650watts for RTX3070 and 750watts for RTX3080 and RTX3090, but their footnote mentioned power supply recommendation based on i9 10900k system
