Yep, it's garbage, pure trash. But it will still sell like hotcakes and occupy the top 5 Steam Hardware List by next year, mark my words.
Btw, not being able to beat the 3060TI is not even the worst thing about this card. In some games it can't even beat its own direct predecessor, the RTX 3060 at 1080p
Resident Evil 4 at 1080p Prioritize Graphics Quality (exact same performance, not even Maximum Settings mind you)
The Last of Us at 1080p Ultra (same average FPS, the 3060 gets better 1% lows LOL)
At 1440p and above, this card is even more of a disaster compared to the 3060, straight up losing to it in the same games
Just like the POS that was the 4060TI compared to the 3060TI, it can't definitively win in every game even against it's own older counterpart, never before has such a thing happened in the history of NVIDIA cards before the 4000 series.
In the past, when you upgraded from an older card of the same class to the newer card, e.g. 1060 to 2060. you were always guaranteed superior performance in every aspect, in every game, and at every resolution tested. Not anymore it seems.
On the contrary I bet that this will push people to go out and clean out any 3060 12GB, 3060Ti stocks, and resale of 3060s might get a boost. This will effectively freeze most of the 4060 potential sales, and tho it might pick up in later years once 3060s are dried up, likely nothing will top 3060s in Steam charts until the release of 5060, which could have a huge uplift once Nvidia sees the backlash on 4060s.
What I am oso interested to see is comparison of 4060nonTI with "fake" 3060 8GB.
Its a foregone conclusion that at higher res, the 192bit 12GB VRAM will eat up that puny 128bit 8GB but really the 3060nonTI isnt a good 1440p card anyhow. 8GB aint so terrible when you look at 3060Ti perf.
What HUB doesnt show is how much extra boost will fake frames give tho. And I think with that it will go higher than 3060Ti but that is only if you like seeing fake frames.
