Hi there fellow lowyat users!

I am currently using a Maxis Fibre 30mbps. My modem is set up in the storeroom at 1st floor of my house, and I hardly get stable wifi in my room up on the second floor. I'm getting 5 mbps on average, with occasional disconnections on a daily basis.

I am considering to buy a better router for better range and speed.
I am considering NETGEAR R6700 Nighthawk AC1750 Smart Dual Band WiFi Router (R6700). It’s quite popular overseas but I’m just concerned that it might not work in Malaysia. Should I be concern of anything?
Do kindly let me know if you have better suggestions on other routers!  cool2.gif
You guys rock. please help a brother out.

Happy to see your enthusiasm to find a new router but you don’t have to put everything in caps on the title. We will still help you if you don’t don’t do that lol.

Anyway, why buy Netgear when you can get decent routers here? Please state your budget, are you currently using VoIP or IPTV, and what is important for you in a new router?

Sorry my bad, I got excited easily.

I tried 2 <RM100 wifi repeaters but with no avail, so I figured to switched out my old router. Im thinking a router <RM400.
May I further ask what's VoIP / IPTV?  hmm.gif
Netgear is just a brand I came across with good branding and reviews and it appealed to me.

Don’t worry about it bro, no harm done. VoIP is the phone, and IPTV is bundled with Astro. If you are not using both, no worries. If you are serious about improving the thoroughput and coverage, RM400 won’t cut it. I would recommend the Asus RT-AC1300UHP which is maybe RM500 - RM550, which would maybe help you, and if you want something better than that, try the TP-Link C3150 v2, which is RM700 - RM750. Either one would help definitely.

Yeh I did try TP Link repeater, but no improvements whatsoever.

Definitely don’t use a repeater bro. Don’t use repeater, as it cut your thoroughput in half.

Thanks man.
I think a TP-Link C3150 v2 router + Asus USB AC55 adapter should work for me.

Definitely bro. My house is quite big as well and the C3150 v2 covers it well, even if it is located in an area far away from my living room.

Hey man, any idea where I can get it online? I think Lazada only has the version 1.

Buy it from here:

I bought a lot from this seller and it is always reliable and no problems. This is v2 for sure. See here for review from bro Jjuggler:

TP-Link not a good choice to me, firmware not well maintained, and featureless nothing much you can do compare to ASUS.
Home WiFi means to be trouble free, install and forget.

If you divide the cost of purchase of the router in 3 years (3 years) warranty. It will feel better.
Bro, my 2 cents.

That’s only true for their mid range models, and definitely NOT their high end models. I have been using this router for six months, without any problems, and their firmware is working well, plus this TP-Link C3150 v2 is cheaper than Asus, and have nearly all the same features, albeit not as good as Asus, but that’s to be expected. Thanks.

Just for my information, what are the differences between v1 and v2?
I could recognize the difference from the product description (and it didn't specify as v2 model).

Some slight hardware and firmware differences:

1) https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK_Archer_C3150

2) https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK_Archer_C3150_v2.x

Just buy from the seller on the link I gave to you and you will be fine. It is definitely v2.
