Just wondering what are the generally consensus here regarding Razer's mechanical switches (Green, Orange, Yellow)? Specifically I'm talking about their current switches made by Greetech not their older switches made by Kailh.

Really curious on how people here think about them when compared to MX Blues, Browns and Reds. Does it have the same satisfactory "feel" when typing/gaming on them compared to Cherry's switches or better? Quite a number of people are saying Razer current switches feel even better than those of Cherry.
*
It's acceptable switch only. If the comment annoy you in some way, then I'm sorry.

Kailh is much better quality.

What happens to the Razer, is they turn greedy. That's why onwards from 2013, they moved from Cherry to Kailh. Then they complain about Kailh still is higher cost (although half price of cherry), only they moving to Greetech and Outemu.

So, what's differentiate between cherry, kailh, greetch?
Cherry is very firm, and stem less wobble. Each strong is precise among their own.
Kailh, is very solid as well, less wobble. However, we still found that the accuracy is lesser than the cherry. But, newer kailh box made it better kailh now.
Greetch, the switch is wobble, less solid switch. It uses less materials and cost, thinner copper pins, not smooth gold leaf composite. However, it's still very acceptable switch.

Just imagine a switch only 1/4 to 1/6 of the cherry, but still selling the board with same price.

This post is not to bash the Razer, just to let you know,
previous 2013, board cost 300+, sell at RM 400+
now, board cost 100+, sell at RM 500-600+

If greetech good, we all using greetech from long time ago

Well, razer claimed their switch award-winning. I think the conclusion the switch is not satisfactory to the community, but it's Razer fans self-satisfactory feel (Syok Sendiri).

You missed out 1 point, razer logo/branding alone is worth that extra cost for razer fans.  innocent.gif

When you say razer switch is not good, they will link the durability that razer claimed. 80 million clicks compared to 50million clicks.
Not to mention razer chroma(better naming of RGB) alone is enough for them to  drool.gif .
*
Cherry only claimed their tactile is 30mil, and linear at 50mil lifespan.
However, razer terus shoot 80mil without test report. Syukur, award-winning.

I agree Razer logo alone worth a lot. thumbup.gif

Very misleading about guarantee and warranty. Actually have warranty only. Self incur damage sure vendor won't fix for you.
And most boards are from chinese plastics. thumbup.gif

I'm running an optical switch keyboard groupbuy now in the facebook, GK61 RGB.
From the video, actually there are 3 vendors for the switches: Gateron, GK, A4Tech.
Welcome to try though.

Edit: Regarding the HP, GK are their OEM for HP. They have several models made by GK.

Anyone has feedback for marvo kg935?
*
This board exactly just like LingYi. I mean the same OEM design, same keycaps, same switches.
Just difference in logo.

This Marvo is just very random sub brands, that from manufacturer to distribute their same products.
This level is like you buy a PC, then come with a random keyboard, that you don't even want to remember or mention the name.

Well, back to the spec for this keyboard, it use Outemu Blue switch, a clicky switch.
This keyboard definitely able to do it job as a mechanical keyboard.
Still last long, and nice to use.
I will say everything is good, for very entry level.

Hi to all the members over here. I wanna get the COOLER MASTER CK550 mechanical keyboard, but most the shops were out of stock. Can anyone over here advise me where to buy it? (please advise some safe purchase). I had gone to Lazada but i didnt see any comments over there so i'm not dare to buy it. I can go to the shop for cash and carry, which i really prefer to do so. So any place to buy the COOLER MASTER CK550? Low Yat Plaza has it? Or any other shops? Kindly advise. Thank you so much
*
You can get from Lazada, I believe that is the only place will sell.
For seller that involved with CM, already stop selling their keyboard, because making loss chance is high.
Seller get the cost of keyboard, still lower than what Lazada sell, totally no points.

Truth is hurts, just don't think this keyboard have good selling until no stocks.
This keyboard don't have any push from the community, it's DESTINED a failed product.

Well do I hate it? Yes, because the board can't even sell, then throw to reviewers and free gift to gamers to push. Trash!

I assumed that the Gateron Clear would be the Cherry MX Clear equivalent, but maybe I'm wrong? 35g may be too light for me, coming from the Kailh Blues. May have to re-look into this as I'm looking to get slightly quieter but still, tactile switches. The Zilent switches sounds really interesting, but that's something for the future.

I certainly noticed that you guys had a meet up last week after I joined the group on Facebook just yesterday  doh.gif

Here's the option available on GMMK:

It's really up to personal preference. And Romer-G switch already EOL, since Logitech already abandon ship for this switch.
However, after market still have this switch part if your switch really broken in the future.

MKB can last so long because of the part availability, repairability.

They now moving back to cherry clone switch. They introduced GX Blue (Kailh Switch in fact), for latest model.
But, you also no need afraid as I said, Romer-G switches is available in after market for replacement.

The good thing they moved back to Cherry compatible, is logi fans can now enjoy using other keycaps than the stock keycaps.

As long as you like your keyboard, just use it. This market need more keyboard variation anyway.

i see.. what is your opinion with tecware mech? like Tecware Phantom RGB TKL, and switches are removable without soldering.
*
Yes, Tecware board is hotswap board, can replace the switch without desolder.

But, you must aware, this Tecware only applied to Outemu switch alone, since the board hotswap only can pop in the thin legs switch like Outemu.
If you try with gateron / cherry / kailh switch, the copper legs will bent and still can't pop in and use it.

--

The newer Tecware board Phantom Elite, on the other hands using Kailh sockets hotswap, allowed all cherry compatible switch to pop in. But the price is a higher than older models.

thanks for sharing. I actually try to avoid brand like logi/corsair/razer all those gaming keyboards now, but was surprise to read about logi giving up on romer switches.
*
Branded is like introductory level for mechanical keyboards.
Everyone will buy those branded in the first time when they introduced to mechanical keyboard.
But, when the user getting more demanding towards the keyboard quality, they will need step up to the next level.
So, they will avoid those "gimmick" brands, since gimmick don't provide the feel you want.

Wish you the best for the future boards you will get.

Hi guys any comments on Ducky keyboards? Looking to buy one with the MX cherry blue switches.

Keyboard is ok, but no more distributor in Malaysia making the keyboard need to ship from Singapore.
Not recommended if you want to claim warranty for keyboards.

any1 here with tecware phantom elite?
i am using gatheron switches..some of them dont sit tight in the hole...this makes the keys dont align horizontally as one or two keys will be more tilted than others

is this the switch problem or the metal board problem?
*
Not plate cutting (u remove switch will see cutting still same), switch (you check got bent pins or not).

It's the socket on the PCB. Reported in since they launched, they have QC issue like this.. <--

So, the simple fix is, disassemble the board, and reseat the socket properly.

The socket looks like this

Hi all,

I did not keep myself updated in the MKB scene for a few years now, currently looking to buy myself a new TKL keyboard but usual brands like ducky, filco etc seems quite rare nowadays?

Where can I get them? Or else, what are my alternatives? Budget below 400 if possible. Thanks.
*
All you mentioned already ceased operation in MY. You will need direct import.

Ducky, import from SG (Shine, One), or China (Zero).
Filco, import from Japan, or China.

It will expensive because of shipping only.

I don't think can get cheap price for a combo of tactile+wireless+bluetooth+full size mechanical keyboard.Only large manufacturer like logitech can do it cheap ?
Anyone tried with G613 before ? Need so review on typing or typist.
*
Only OEM brand can make it cheap like logi/china brand, because mass produce.
For custom board, all parts actually charged more than you can expect, pushing the keyboard become expensive.

I built (build from DIY kit) before tactile TKL with bluetooth, and can cost RM 500+ onwards.

That is alot for TKL , but I need full keyboard include numberpad.Except , did DIY able to create a mechanical numberpad too ?

Use as typist , so it would be quite hard to find actual wireless+mechanical key + bluetooth cheap.

Anyone use G613 ? can review abit compare to rubber keyboard from those basic d3ll keyboard ? I search some said it's almost the same.
*
RM 500 for TKL custom is considered as very door entry level.

I think wireless mechanical keyboard is very less in the market, because it's redundant feature, it will get signal delay once you have bluetooth interference in your environment.

If you talking about romer-g vs membrane, actually there is difference, longer actuation distance in romer-g making typing more fun. And actuate without need of bottoming.
But, romer-g only have stock keycaps, so, hard to find replacement keycaps like what cherry mx switches can do.
Still, you need to try G613 in retail shop, if you like it, then buy it.
