as long you are ok with it, it doesn't really matter if caps are cheap or not. the key point is about you, not really about others.

tbh in terms of improvements for typing feels in cherry mx style mkbs, there is a point beyond which you will feel nothing significant. at that point, you will know paying more for switches, cases, plates, stabs, caps, lubes, etc. have nothing to do with typing feels, but something else. (e.g. as collectibles, i.e. limited editions of the whole prebuilt or custom board, or parts like switches and key cap sets)

there is no need to take my words for it. slowly try them out as a hobby, and you will get what i mean, eventually. one thing is for sure: most prebuilts can be great if you spend more time fine-tuning it. (like other said, give it love and care biggrin.gif)

My OCD is telling me I need to ditch them.

All Kailh box switches have this issues? They do not line up straight.

Number row = Kailh box brown
Alphas row = Aliaz silent

i think you should take photos with caps on, then observes the alignment of each cap and case to make it more obvious.

I already had the caps on. The whole numbers row are with the box switches and the rest in Aliaz. You can already see that the number caps ar elining up straight. Each caps on the numbers row have a slight "rotated/bent" to it. The bottom right corner will not match the bottom left of the cap on it's right. If you know what I mean. And it's very consistent throughout. So, it's definitely design issue.

Hey, it's a lot cleaner than my GK64. The soldering work is a lot cleaner on the new board!

ok i have v3 and v5.

yours showed that we can actually do switch replacement with normal solder. if you needed to do a clean one then you might need a heat gun + solder paste.

Is the quality ok? Thick kikaps? U like using it?

Anyway i notice the price is diff buying straight from taobao n from its english website, kprepublic.com.

So its better to buy straight from taobao?
Taobao is cheaper by rm50 roughly. Big amount for cheapo.

Whats ur say masta?

quality wise, yes i like it: thick pbt, dye-sub, and 170 keys for this set.

ok i didn't realize there are differences in price gaps between their taobao's shop and their website (the last time i checked they're almost the same) also, when i bought this one i stumbled upon their early bird program of some sort i guess.

no problem haha it's for easing my itch a bit temporarily, while i wait for enjoypbt sets to reach.

it's really take ages to reach if we joined this kind of group buys.

the options are usually pretty limited. you can find some at taobao/aliexpress.

yes there are a few guys at mymkb fb page that can offer their helps with this, e.g. https://www.facebook.com/seu.evum

hi guys

coming from cherry mx black, would there be a huge difference in typing and gaming feels if i were to switch to cherry mx red or mx speed?

im planning to switch from cm quickfire rapid mx black to either ducky shine 6 red or speed, or do you guys have any other mkb recommendation that has RGB at a lower price point but close enough build quality?

the most obvious difference is the spring weights. the actuation force for red/speed is 45cN, while black is 60cN.

for red/speed users (me included), black is stiffer. this affects typing speed. (i touch type usually. the same force that i use on red sometimes doesn't actuate keys on black) in your case, you might misfire hehe (because red are relatively lighter to you) however it's not that obvious for gaming.

all in all, just give them a try at shops with demonstration units of red/speed.

as for the build quality, ducky users should give you better ideas.
