changing caps for mods are back to the time-consuming part compared to cherry style stabs lol!

like i said, gk64 is a nice pcb that helps me learn a lot more than what i need to learn hehe

60% has a relatively good ecosystem for anyone who are interested in a rich set of parts, from switches, up to cases, plates, stabs, modifications, etc. best of all, it's a fully functional keyboard. it's now a mock-up board for me to build permanent customs.

hehe yeah users who like costar stabs will be thrilled smile.gif

if this worked well, then the options for stabs in gk64 can be considered complete:

1. plate-mount cherry style stabs;
2. pcb-mount cherry style stabs;
3. plate-mount costar stabs.

the main difference between the three is the top plate and stabs.

i suspect the options for gk61 (optical and mechanical) is the same as gk64's.

Thanks guys for the input. And I heard they already changed the distri since it takes more than a more for the RMA doh.gif

Need to get spare keyboard for it.

what's the problem actually?

yes it's better to use rma when it's still valid. wow the process still need one month to complete for keyboards and mice. it's quite lengthy.

thanks Moogle. it's a nice read. it's written by 'a huge fan of romer-g switches'. the author went on and said that romer-g's tactile switches feel 'almost exactly the same' as the new linear variant.

.. i stopped reading after that, because i was not sure if he wanted to point out that tactile romer-g is actually just scratchy linear, or something else.

i believe that romer-g linear is a good option for gaming boards. in fact they should forget about tactile and went straight to linear from the start. however they should stop screwing around with reviews like this one.
i never tried a romer g before, so appreciated quovadis and your input on this hmm.gif

but that pricing.... there are many cheap alternatives with cherry mx that can beat that price point. as a more budget minded user, that is my perspective.

agreed. there are indeed many viable alternatives at lower price points.

i think the article is a hard sell. linear switches actually have the least user base, according to some mkb community surveys (i.e. tactile brown > clicky blue > linear red. to me, it's the result of a collective marketing effect, because brown is always advertised as the all-purpose option for years. in reality, how many of us can actually feel the tactile bumps from brown? or even benefit from it?)

this is why i think new users should have first-hand typing experience on all common switch types, then choose the most comfortable type for them. (well, it's also fine to like them all haha)

Have you tried cherry mx black before? wouldn't like it.

when you press..... it's hard..... think of a spring you press on it, but the spring is very hard. thats how i would describe it. imagine typing on that half the day at work sad.gif

what was your impression going from black to red? too soft?

when i first tried red, the linear push down so soft, push all the way down o-O; quite easily.

having been comfortable on brown, i didn't really feel the need to go for a red, put it that way. i'm not pro gamer, so as casual brown works great for me.

it's rare because there is very limited user demand in general.

misfired a lot?

it's softer to the touch, in the beginning it somewhat gave me the cheap feeling cause i was used to the tougher mx black and another reason why i can think of the 'cheap' feeling was because the keycaps on this ducky one makes the more 'click' sound than my old CM QFR which makes more of a 'clack' sound.

i've also had some misfires while typing but im starting to get used to it heh, and my current keyboard doesnt sound as loud as my previous one while typing. in terms of fatigue, i've never felt tired typing on the black switch so switching to red didnt seem like an improvement for me on this department.

gaming wise i did not feel any noticeable difference in terms of response, they feel pretty much the same to me biggrin.gif

yeah 6 years is a long time. given time, you should be able to adapt to the lighter spring weight.

fatigue only happens when you move from lighter to heavier spring weights.

Just wondering what are the generally consensus here regarding Razer's mechanical switches (Green, Orange, Yellow)? Specifically I'm talking about their current switches made by Greetech not their older switches made by Kailh.

Really curious on how people here think about them when compared to MX Blues, Browns and Reds. Does it have the same satisfactory "feel" when typing/gaming on them compared to Cherry's switches or better? Quite a number of people are saying Razer current switches feel even better than those of Cherry.
