Last night had a real scare when doing my switch lube and exchange. I actually snapped one of the hot swap sockets when I was pushing in the switch. Luckily, the important part of the socket is still intact. The connector pins and sockets all still functioning. Just black plastic housing broke.

Moral of the story, when you are sleepy AF, do not continue with your keyboard chores. hahaha... XD

uh? how did yo do that? pushing in switches should not cause the black housing to be broken.

however it's an easy fix so it should be fine hehe

edit: yes, it's my habit to do the same when i was really sleepy too lol i think i should stop doing that already

The GK64 pcb does have the 2 mounting holes for PCB mounted switches. However, if you look closely, 1 of the hole is partly covered by the hot-swap sockets. Now, if you push it hard enough, the switch (5 legs PCB mounted version) will snap in place. That is after one of the leg pushes out the hot swap socket. T_T

Just got my ikbc c87 . Thebuilt is so much better comapred to corsair although the price is nearly half cheaper. Each ptap on the keycaps also feels more solid. haha

oh no wonder

i usually use 3-leg plate-mount switches so far maybe that's why i didn't have this

you are one of the very few that truly understand why we don't recommend gaming boards here. yes, you can always save a lot to get a nice board, with much better qualities.

i don't have corsair strafe to compare to, but older generations of corsair boards, like k70 rgb, were built relatively better imo (compared to other brands, at that time period)

The plastic used is also better. Corsair's bit flimsy where can hear sounds like click clak when pressed hard against the board. doh.gif

i saw some of u said that the cherry stabs from ebay is the authentic one, i tried searching for it and come across this seller.. is this the one that sells the genuine cherry stabs?

cherry stabs

bought a dz60 board from kbdfans and uses his assembly service.. too bad the stabs that comes with the board is a china knock off and they rattle.. read in reddit that the stabs is a lost cause n even lubing it will not remove the rattling.. was thinking to change it

Well, that's probably partly because the Strafe is a cheaper built on. I started out with a K70, which is quite decently built, other than the cheap "laser-etched" keycaps that just don't look good without backlight on. That was what made me moved on. I ended up favouring unlit keyboards.

Can't really 100% tell if those are genuine or knock offs but judging by his seller feedback, he should be okay. Anyway, how are you going to change the stabs since it's already assembled? I assume you will be re-soldering the whole board if you need to change the stabs. Unless I am mistaken.

if you had the chance, try varmilo. you will find your ikbc board is still missing something.

yes i got some from this same seller.

however if you are using pcb-mount stabs, you should try out screw-in pcb-mount stabs. they're secured firmly to the pcb via screws.

oO.. i might check them out.. because when I bought my board from kbdfans i asked him if he had a different stabs in stock n he said he ran out.. so my choice was left with the oem knock off stabs.. whats the difference between the screw in stabs n pcb mount stabs?
