this color reminds me of noctua  tongue.gif

noctua's fans are good. they are long lasting compared to other brands (especially stock fans for water cooling aio). i still use the same fans in my builds after many years (with minor service, like dust cleaning once a year hehe)

just like my filco with cherry mx red smile.gif

Guys, I'm kinda stuck on what to do/buy now. Here are my options:

1. XD84 Aluminium/Tempered Glass case plus Aliaz switches

Pros
-Exact match with my Cospad
-Nice anodized alu finishing
-Nice backlighting and underglow
-USB-C
-Relatively cheap RM 465
-Programmable

Cons
-Will need to desolder my entire XD84 Pro PCB(different plate design). Had bad experience of killing a PCB before.
-End up with used XD84 plastic case/plate/switches which I may not be able to successfully sell.
-I'm getting tired of non staggered arrow/F row/navigation keys

2. IKBC MF108 v3 plus Aliaz switches

Pros
-Full size
-Full alu case
-Per key RGB
-USB C
-I can permanently keep my Cospad at home if I need a numpad with my laptop
-I can resell a used a complete XD84 Pro keyboard (hopefully)
-I can resell 108 unused switches

Cons
-Expensive RM 850 + RM 260 = RM 1110
-Plate mount stabs
-No underglow
-Not programmable
-Only available black
-Need to desolder 108 switches! Lead free solder! Danger!

3. Gok 7V plus Aliaz switches

Pros
-Endgame level board
-Staggered arrow/F row/navigation keys
-Maintain compact-ish 75% + Cospad
-Crazy beautiful endgame pretty stainless steel bling weight
-Did I say endgame?

Cons
-Crazy expensive - RM 2000 + RM 200 = RM 2200
-I'll be lucky if I can receive the board this time next year (Group buy)

4. Leopold FC900 plus Aliaz switches

Pros
-Relatively cheap RM 488 (Lazada birthday price) + RM 250 = RM 738
-Full size
-Foam
-I can permanently keep my Cospad at home if I need a numpad with my laptop
-I can resell a used a complete XD84 Pro keyboard (hopefully)
-I can resell 104 unused switches

Cons
-ABS case
-No underglow
-Not programmable
-Need to desolder 104 switches! Lead free solder! Danger!
-MINI USB!

kibod is personal preference. u need to answer ur own question.
whistling.gif

on serious note, kinda hard to answer base on how much would u want to spend.
if i have a lot of money laying around, end game will always be the answer.
so base on ur cons,
1. if u dont like a layout, why would u but a new kibod with the same layout.
2. i like to be having several kibod(diff layout) than 1 kibod bcoz i change my kibod base on the situation im in. but mind u, my kibods are cheapos.
3. if u r afraid of breaking ur PCB, there are few guys here can help u with that with money. bcoz from what i see, u dont mind spending some money to get what u want. so better be safe than sorry. u might lose the experience, but at least u dont lose ur PCB.
4. again, kinda hard to pick a kibod for someone bcoz, i can say its better to have full size, then ull say, nahh, will be hard to carry around(+ u have the cospad), ill say better to have xd84, ull say, its non-staggered me no likey. so on n so forth. so my advice, buy 1st, think later. whistling.gif

anyway good luck on ur new kibod ! notworthy.gif

like irsyadfy said, it's up to you. they are all good choices. you should pick the one that is closest to your preferences.

personally i like custom kits that have more part options, like plate types, hot-swap and solderable pcbs, etc. for 75%, i think bella from kbdfans is ok.

not really into commercial boards now, but that ikbc mf108 i believe has a damn hefty metal case.

Bella is nice though I think the switch opener is too gimmicky. I'm number 600+ on the waiting list. But for the first batch coming in, I'm not particularly interested in any of the 3 colours.

oh that switch opener. to me it's just part of design haha

edit:

recently i have retested some of the linear switches that i have collected so far:

1. cherry mx red (normal and clear housings);
2. cherry mx retooled black;
3. gateron yellow (milky and clear housings);
4. kailh box red;
5. kailh pro burgundy;
6. gateron inks yellow and black;
7. nk creams (pom-based housings);
8. tealios v2; and
9. my custom switches based on cherry mx top, gateron rgb slider and bottom housing, switch film, and 67g punchy spring (lubed with krytox gpl 203g2 for sliders, and 105 for springs)

at stock configurations, tealios v2 is the smoothest imo. (relatively) the second in my list are gat inks and retooled black.

however, for all of them, i prefer the modded sound and feel after lubing at least the springs and all sides of sliders, so that i can get rid of the unwanted ping noise, and each key will make a more singular sound when typing.

irsyadfy i just learn a bit more about most common basics only.

however, this hobby really takes time to gather all the personal experience about common parts in mkbs. (e.g., switch types, plate types, case types, stabilizers, keyboard constructions, lubes, key caps, keyboard layouts, types of firmware, hot-swap/solderable pcbs, internals of and different modifications for each) .. and i haven't touched anything advanced yet lol

my usual advice is to take it slow and steady. it's not that easy to find out what you actually prefer, with all these combos. eventually, the results might be like mine: i like more than one combos haha

edit:

yeah this is just linear switch. luckily i'm not interested in other switch types phewww

well any hobby also is almost like that. takes times to experience and learn.

but with u experimenting on all those parts, it helps other to learn the experience from u rather than spending the money to do the experiment with it.
with that i thank you !

hey guys. just dropping by to say hi.
Seems like shit tons has changed in the mechkb world since i left the game.
Still clacking it with my trust Filco Convertible 2 here.
I read a bit about a lot of new boards and switches but there's something about Filco that I can't part with it. Not sure if the brand is dying or not. Still LOVE it.

Cheers and stay healthy at times like this.

Exactly. I wanted to move to something more modern (optical switches, USB C etc) but there's just something about it that I can't part with.

Anyone tried Keychron boards? They seems pretty reasonably priced.

Hi,

Have you guys heard of Rakk Lam-Ang Pro from Philippines?
Do you guys know how to obtain that board through parcel forwarding service? For now, you could only purchase through their website or Lazada PH, both which do not offer international shipping.

I also do know that it's a generic OEM board that could be found from Alibaba. I have also seen a Taobao seller that sells the same board under a different brand but it's more expensive than Rakk Lam-Ang Pro.

Can anyone help me?

Oh ya, forgotten to mention that the Chinese brand is 赤度 and their board supports hotswap optical switches. I don't think the hotswap optical socket is universal like Kailh hotswap socket. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
