QUOTE(horns @ Jan 31 2019, 07:39 PM) right, choices of good-quality pbt backlit caps are limited in general. ah ok, guess i'll just try my luck with taobao ones then. Thanks.scratchiness is a non-issue as long as they are lubed properly. again, it's better for you to try out first-hand to have better experience, instead of reading user comments. most of the times, user comments are very subjective, and are based on their own preferences. good luck btw anyone tried outemu browns and gateron browns before? oh my, i feel like Outemu browns are VERY mushy (on tecware phantom TKL), really didn't expect that. guess I'll have to order up myself some switches as well from tb to hotswap these outemus. |

hey guys, the Phantom TKL Outemu switches are starting to get on my nerves for its "stickiness".
It's like the switch rebound too fast that it causes the key caps to "stick" to my fingertips after I release a key. At first I thought is keycaps problem, so I swapped in my PBT keycaps from other keyboard that did not have this problem. But the problem persists. Does lubing the switches help in my case? If not I may finally give in and start to custom build a kb myself This post has been edited by nders: Aug 5 2019, 04:15 PM |

QUOTE(horns @ Aug 5 2019, 04:33 PM) er.. not too sure what happened to your switches. which switch are you using now? It's Outemu brown. pretty disappointed coz I thought China switches are already very good, tried Kailh and Gaterons, both are great. switch lubing means making your switches smooth during key travels, from and back to its resting position. in essence, it mainly helps minimize scratchiness (mainly due to frictions between sliders and housings when you type), and spring noise. you should try out a few lubed switches first to see if it solved the issue. Dunno why this Outemu brown have the problem I described. The kepcap "sticks" to my tip after releasing a key, making it harder to swipe away to other keys. I don't have any lube on hand now, so I hope could get an answer here before committing to ordering. according to your description, seems like it won't help much in solving my issues, if anything, it could make it worse cos the switches may rebound even faster after lubing. haha. What's your recommendation for a TKL kit? and what prices am I looking at for a full kit with swappable switches? |

QUOTE(horns @ Aug 5 2019, 05:25 PM) could it be related to tactile bumps? you said you have tried kailh and gateron, are they brown/tactile too, or different switch types? I've tried Kailh brown, cherry blue, cherry brown, Gateron brown, and Outemu browns (all extensively, not briefly), none is as annoying as outemu browns.i'm not sure what happened to your switches, so i can only tell you the main purpose of switch lubing. yes it sounded like lubing will not solve your issue, because we might not look at the actual cause. there are few options about a full tkl kit with swappable switches, e.g. drop's ctrl tkl, and gmmk tkl (both use kailh switch sockets, so they can support switches other than outemu) just realised maybe I should get outemu reds that is hot swappable into my Phantom TKL to try out if problem persists. if not, hurray, can proceed to lubing the reds. May I know where to buy switch lubes? or how to search for it ? |

took me about 2 months to realise that odd feeling of keys "rebound-and-sticking" to my fingers whenever I type (regardless of keycaps), is caused by spring force being to strong.
Outemu spring force (65g) is just way too strong for me. dayum. need to splurge for new set of kb .... anyone got any recommendation for me? 1. TKL 2. floating keys design 3. Cherry/Gaterons tactile switches (brown or close to brown) 4. solid (preferably got some metal in the construction) 5. below RM350 Massdrop CTRL kb fits all of the above and beyond, except the price overshot way too much, so yeah... need some guidance here. QUOTE(horns @ Dec 20 2019, 12:17 PM) you can try out tecware phantom elite tkl. yeah, just realised some sellers selling the elites with gateron and kailh switches, both are my absolute fav when it comes to mainstream switches. and price is as reasonable as ever. thanks matei have both phantom elite tkl and ctrl. both can be much better after tuning. |

QUOTE(clivengu @ Feb 10 2020, 12:21 AM) I probably just aim for TKL for this round as they are more option I can choose from. I found a used Durgod K320 at a reasonable price.. Currently my choice is between Durgod K320 and the IKBC CD87. Durgod used at around rm 250, IKBC new for Rm289. Which will be the better choice? I love gateron browns as much as i love cherry browns and blues (after lazy-lube). These all 3 have soft springs. If I decided to play along in the future, I may pursue in finding my ideal 75%.... at the moment, I can't wait as I have no keyboard to use Thanks for the recommendation. I looked into tecware phantom, it definitely is affordable option but I really don't like the "look" of it.. But..for tecware phantom elite, it means it is possible for me to swap all the switches & keycap in the future? They are using Gateron switches which I have not learn about them yet.. are they as good as Cherry Mx? Tecware's favourite Outemu Brown and Red use harder springs which I loathed, so if you gonna get Tecware, better get Elite so you can swap if you find out you don't like Outemu. other lineup in Tecware kbs all only support Outemu switches, only Elite can use other switches without additional fiddling. |

Anyone here tried/using/used Holy Pandas before? seems to be one of the endgame switches, wonder how it compares to bog-standard Cherry MX switches?
