Currently Good quality Silky puppies very difficult to find in Malaysia. Veteran & experience Silky Terrier breeder with good quality Silkys also seldom breed. If you want you might need to wait 1/2 year or maybe 1 year time by placing a booking to the breeder.

If you need someone to help you check on the puppy. You can let me know I can go with you and look at the pup.

Anyway good luck in your search.

Hi,

I just bought an A. Silky Terrier. Female, 2 mths. I would like to ask;

1. Is it they love to bite for the first few months? Until when they will stop, cause she keep chasing me to bite on my toes shocking.gif and when i show the finger and scold vmad.gif her, she don't care whistling.gif and want to bite my finger too!!I had bought her toys to play with but she seems not interested to play.. sweat.gif icon_question.gif

2. How to toilet trained her? She seems like haven't understand what I say..sigh doh.gif icon_question.gif

3. The pet shop said give her 2 meals per day, but she don't want to eat in the morning. She just take few bites then don't want anymore. Then later take few again. Any idea how to let her eat hmm.gif ? icon_question.gif

Please help. This is my first time have a puppy. Don't know how to treat and trained them. My house will held a lot of party throughout the year, so I must trained her faster to be polite (not bite and toilet trained) to the guest at least.

Thanks a lot,
Sharon W

u can go to dog thread or silky thread to ask..doesnt need to make a thread of urs ma.

1.puppy like to bite so u have to say NO whenever they tried too..they will start biting till they change(around 4~5month should change all ledi) all their teeth..they only change once..so becareful not to feed them hard rock kibbles..

2.to toilet train them..u have to be patience..puppy will normally poo & pee both come together..they will do it normally after meal or after playing sometimes some will before male..u have to catch their timing..& they will sniff the floor b4 doing busniess..so u have to keep your eye on them..when u see them sniff around on a spot..its a sign for them to pee or poo..so u need to carry them to the exact place u want them to poo..same goes to pee

3.puppy need 3~4meal,depend on condition..your dog kibbles will state the portion to be given daily..u need to divide them..normally 3times a day u divide urself..& they cant eat hard kibbles yet..so u have to soak them in warm water & let the kibbles soften before feeding..

i just told u some of it only..there are much more to learn which u have to read it up yourself..do your research next time before getting a pup..

I have merged the threads..... Conangirl, please do not open new threads. There is a puppy training guide here, search for it.

Anyway, puppies are babies. When you bring a baby home, do you think the baby would understand how to pee and poo in the toilet bowl? Do you think a baby would know how to stop crying when you say the word NO?

A puppy is the same. You must remember, it is like a baby, with no knowledge. It doesn't understand our words as we do not speak dog, nor does a dog speak human but they learn through experience, knowledge and the tone of our voice.

NewbieBetta gave you good basic advice already. That is the basics. If you still have problems, then get hold of a puppy training book. So many of these books are available at bookshops, be it new or secondhand.

Most of us here took weeks to months and years to train our dogs. We did not train them in just a few hours for them to magically understand everything. Some puppies are natural learners, they pick things fast but some are stubborn and slow, so you must be patient and consistent. Never blow your temper, never hit or scold, only scold or punish immediately after a wrong doing......

You got lots to learn, not just the puppy. You still have not even shown to your pup that you are the pack leader, so you don't get it's respect yet.
