Silky Terrier with a whole body brown color is totally out of the written standard. Why you still want to breed if you know your female Silky have a serius fault. Is best study & understand your Silky bloodline before going into breeding. Study as far as you can about your Silky brother & sister, parent, grandparent & etcs.

A poor quality female mate with good quality male hoping the puppies will come out like the father. You are just trying your luck. Chances are the puppies will follow the mother.

The motto of the responsible breeder of purebred dogs is "Breed to Improve."

Every dog is the best dog in the world to its owner. Responsible breeders, however, know to avoid "kennel blindness" -- in other words, they take a step back and honestly evaluate the good and bad points of their dogs before making the decision to breed. The goal of breeding, after all, is to produce a better dog and a quality pet.

One of the best ways to get an objective opinion of your dog is to test it against others. Consider attending a dog show to determine how your dog measures up against the best specimens of its breed.

To be an effective breeder, you should have a basic understanding of the science of genetics. Everything about your prospective puppies' health, soundness, looks, and temperament will be determined by the genes passed on by their parents, and by their parents before them. Therefore, the selection of a mating pair should not be made solely on the basis of the dog's or b****'s looks (or temperament or soundness, etc.), but should be based on an understanding of how the animal's genes contributed to its looks and of how those genes are passed on and expressed. That is why it is essential to study the pedigrees of your mating pair. The more knowledge you have as you make your selection, the more likely you are to produce a litter with the qualities you desire.

You are right.

The Silky puppies that are currently selling at Ikano are way too small in size compare to actual Silky puppy. I think the Silky already mix with yorky then register them as purebreed Silky.

If you guys did follow MKA showring of Silky Terrier Breed. You know who I am talking about. I was so shock to see a Yorkshire Terrier competting with my Silky Terrier for the CC/Best of Breed titled. Only that I refer the show book entries that the Yorkshire Terrier is actually a Silky Terrier. It just show how well & knowledgeable is the participant about Silky Terrier Dog Breed. To my surprise the Silky Terrier look like Yorky is actually own breeding. Can you believe the Silky Terrier (1year+) are smaller in size compare to my puppy Silky (BELLE-7months old).

Before purchasing a Silky Terrier Puppy. Equip yourself with all the knowledge about Silky Terrier Breed thru books, Internet & visit dog show. Talk to the experience Show Breeder. Take your time and do all the research about this wonderful breed.

When come to purchasing a Silky puppy please go direct to breeder. Never go to petshops. Ask the breeder you want see both the parent of the puppy & also the cert (study them). Ask as many questions about his Silky Terrier dog/puppy. This is where your knowledge that you pickup early thru your reading & research come in good. As this will help you to determine whether this breeder know his breed well. Avoid those pushy type breeder want to sell you the puppy.

No Tan Color at all? Then the answer is YES.

Added on January 14, 2008, 8:20 pm

Leash is dog chain. It come in many meterial. Don't buy metal chain to your dog cause metal chain will break your Silky hair around the neck area worse it will hurt & injured your dog neck.

I guess your pup now is somewhere around 8 weeks old. Deworm your pup at 8weeks, 12weeks, 16weeks then every 3 months. For heartworm prevention you can start giving when your pup reach 5months old (no need do bloodtest).

LOL cool2.gif If I show you my dogs sleeping area that will be my bedroom sweat.gif

The pup is not with me yet, still less than 8 weeks old. ;S

Ok, will get a soft leash. biggrin.gif

You leave them running in your bed room? Won't they simply pee & poo ah? unsure.gif

More to learn from you. cool.gif

Let me take some photo of the leash and show you.

No No No. I let them run freely inside my house when I am not around. I will place a tray & newspaper on top letting them pee & poo. If I am around I let them inside my room (sleep & play), they will never pee & poo inside my room during the night.

Know your furkid by using the correct way in training & be patience.

The petshop will not lie to the customer. They just brought the puppies from those backyard/commercial dog breeder and sell at their petshop. The petshop don't care whether the puppy are pure/unhealthy, they just care about how much they can earn $$$$$ from the puppy. The younger the puppy they can get from the breeder the better their chances the they can sell off the puppy in higher price.

Did I say champ furkid, human shampoo & eukanuba is quality breeding? Did I?

All furkids are beautiful including mongrels. All I want to say here is breeding is to improve not increase the quantity.

Please see below pic of the female silky I am referring. Silky Terrier standard coat color should be blue and tan. The blue may be silver blue, pigeon blue or slate blue, the tan deep and rich. The blue extends from the base of the skull to the tip of the tail, down the forelegs to the elbows, and half way down the outside of the thighs. On the tail the blue should be very dark. Tan appears on muzzle and cheeks, around the base of the ears, on the legs and feet and around the vent. The topknot should be silver or fawn which is lighter than the tan points.

Did the below female Silky meet the above requirement? If not why still use it as breeding machine? Best is the spayed it.

What can I say. Your female already pregnant & gave birth to a pup. Sure I have to congrat you wat. If I know you are breeder at first place I straight away gave you my comment not to breed ur female again cause it is not suitable even if you are my close friend I also will talk the samething. At SNF Club forum you are not that active member. For me you are just an ordinary dog owner that have a female dog gave birth to a puppy wanted to keep the pup & I never think you are a breeder at first place. If you breed again the female second time and post up in SNF Club forum I surely will say the samething at you.

My advice to you is stop breeding but I didn't shoot & insult you? If you don't want listen to my advice that fine for me. At the end of the day ppls only know alvin86 breed poor quality Silky Terrier puppies.

Not some1 using Pantene. Is me that I use Pantene on my Silkys. Not only me but reputable & well know Silky Terrier Breeders from State, Europe & OZ also using human shampoo & conditioner on their dogs. Result speak for it self. At first I also no confident & don't believe this breeders told me. Due to many try & error on pet shampoo that gave me no result on my Silkys I gave human product a try & from that day onward there is no turning back.

I say Eukanuba is one of the best dog food available. I didn't say is the best dog food in the world. Don't twist & turn my statement there is a different. Currently I feeding my Silkys California & Innova.

In this thread I didn't say Ikano or petshop cheat ppls money? Please read carefully before shooting me.

Why you not proud me showing off your female Silky? If you not happy I can delete it. Just tell me I have no problem. This picture I copy from junnie thread selling puppy.

alvin86, at the end its all up to you. I just give you a short advice without shooting & insult you. But you feel offended.

If you love Silky Terrier Breed. Know the breed well & breed to improve this Silky Terrier in Malaysia. Be responsible.

Well, what chrisoys have shared is useful. If we do breed, we must do it properly, breed for quality, not for quantity..... yes, there is a demand for silky puppies in the pet trade.... but we must not breed blindly..... if the dog is not of standards, then spay him/her so that it doesn't spoil the breed standards for future breedings.

There is much to learn. The best to learn is through the guidance and experience from a good breeder. I do agree that some of the words in that statement were different from what chrisoys stated months ago.....

Anyway, learn and be humble.

Actually I don't see anything wrong with using human shampoo on pet or feeding Eukanuba. As long as the dog's gene is good, it won't have allergy problem etc. Only those dogs genetically sensitive will have impactful skin allergy problem towards any kind of products. I did feed Eukanuba and use human conditioner on my dogs too.

Once I used human shampoo, tearless baby shampoo.... the foam got into my dog's eyes when she was giving me a hard time cleaning her face. Then her eyes turn cloudy grey, I thought blind. Went to vet, they told me that we should not use human shampoo coz the ph is not the same, so it results in hurting the eyes and giving skin allergies to some. Now I never use human shampoo anymore.... but conditioner got lah.

LOL sweat.gif You must be using J&J baby shampoo. In fact, I many time advice ppls don't use J&J baby shampoo. This shampoo is too strong for our furkid skin & hair. First I thought baby shampoo should be mild and gentle but in other way round.

Just curious. How many time do you breed your female Silky in a year?

When I check back at SNF Club Forum thread. You posted your female silky gave birth on 16 June 2007 & now your Female Silky gave birth again?!!!.
