I don't know about others but I have stopped calling banks to activate for overseas usage years ago. No issue for MBB, HLB, UOB, AmBank, SCB and CIMB in recent years. PBB, I have never used it overseas, so I cannot say much. HSBC I already cancelled it, and even if I had it, I won't use it overseas.

yeah...i started to feel hsbc point got more restriction. Most likely will cancel before annual month

Slightly off topic, but even if bank don't charge late fees/interest, you might be hit with a 1 in CCRIS if it's around CCRIS update date. Kena before with HSBC

Example:
Payment due date: 9th
Bank update CCRIS: 10th
Date paid: 11th

Yea, i always will check monthly on eCCRis there and all still 0

My maybank always +23 paid due to salary always delay , lol..

Yes it is. Though I had redeemed tons of Lazada vouchers using points and rewards from them back in 2020-2021 era (reload GrabPay and TnG e-wallet campaigns). Those were the good old days. Not like other banks are better now but still I feel HSBC is lacking. I use UOB for overseas spending, though not the best rate but in terms of airmiles accumulation, it is one of the better ones.

anyone call bank before go oversea? Cannot set on app to notify when travel. CS cannot reach as too busy .peak period

I didn’t call MBB before going to China for the 1st time and my card got blocked after 2 days due to suspicious transactions. I tied my card to Alipay app. I still call bank to FYI them especially if it’s a new foreign country.

Just called UOB, as my card is for oversea usage, so no need to call cs.

Probably too many credit query hits? I applied for UOB (first card) and HSBC (3rd card) within days of each other some months ago, and was approved for UOB card while rejected by HSBC (which also could be for many other reasons also la, but..). Oh wells.

It's probably YMMV, but I did not have an existing saving account with UOB, and still got approved for credit card, so...

I've gotten cards from banks I didn't have existing CASA accounts with, so.. not entirely true

If you plan to take Grab from KLIA 2 anyway, then can try your luck. I would take the KLIA Transit/Express to KLIA and take from there.

KLIA Express/Transit is only RM 2 and may save RM 80. laugh.gif Or for extreme cases, can take the free shuttle between these two terminals. tongue.gif

the promo auto enable when u choose the correct location to/from with the correct card, not manually enter, so might work for any terminal at klia.
the terminal 1 word probably still there as last time the limo only available in terminal 1

"If the cardmember does not meet the criteria of 3 overseas transactions, the full fare of the Grab ride up to RM80 will be charged to the UOB PRVI Miles Elite Card within 90 calendar days."

the charge back only on the 3 overseas txn checking, not terminal 1 or 2 as they wont check the location, just like you buy something at aeon, they only see Aeon, won't see what u buy

The Grab ride can be used to non-KV areas right? Example Seremban.
