so would it be correct to say that if your batch has went down to 200 students already, then you can safely say that there won't be anymore eliminations/failures, well not many at least, right?

is it true that you will fail unless you memorise all the lecture notes? How do you get an A? And if someone just wants to pass, how do they do that? Isn't it hard just to pass?

I heard that in Monash they have distinction and all that, but they raise the passing mark according to student performance in formatives, so its not A, B or C, it's just pass or borderline pass etc.

I think someone here mentioned that you just have to make sure you're not in the bottom 20% of your batch, but then who the hell are those people anyway? You can't really know everyone's results, so what are those people at the top doing right? That is, if they're human . . .
*
u mean to say to that you go into the exam hall without memorising your notes? shocking.gif

IMU has too mucha lot of students..so that's why you don't know other people's results unless you really go and find out.

omF, i think even consistently studying everyday won't be able to memorise the notes. i don't know how you're able to memorise all your notes. I think it's really great that we finally have actual students from imu stating that prospective students should not think that they well get the uni they want. I can't believe that all this is going on in imu, the system seems pretty rigged. Maybe once students stop flocking in, they'll finally adopt a more transparent and honest approach. I feel bad for all of you who spend so much money. At least you can become a doctor and live your dream, i think?
*
are you saying you only memorise notes for the sakes of exams?! so once you step into the working world you restudy all over again???

becoming a doctor is one thing.

becoming a doctor which saves lives is one thing.

becoming a doctor which has a licence to kill is another thing.

haha i think maybe they dont plan? cos they have enough regardless of which country their son/daughter got sent to? lol

anyways, i think no matter which country u go, the amount of money paid will more or less be the same when u convert back to RM. or maybe NZ cheaper?  hmm.gif
*
oh really? hmm.gif i know some parents of students borrowing huge amounts of loans to fund their children to overseas.

cannot compare like that..all the variables must be the same..if go uk 2 year sure cheaper than go oz 3 years.. laugh.gif

my father wanted to do that too but i said NO i do not want that, its like putting all the weights all the responsibilities into me and I MUST SURVIVE TILL I PAY BACK ALL THE LOANS. and if i die of accidents or smtg (choi!), my family will bankrupt after that. haha its not just 100k for all the years in oversea, going uk/aus/nz for medicine will cost u at least 150k per year. dentistry even more... brows.gif

if you can't afford any pms med school, you can't afford ALL of them lah....

and yes, changing matching is near impossible.......otherwise 80% will want to change, as it appears only 20% got their 1st choice.......

QUOTE(Yeyechan @ Aug 22 2010, 07:34 PM)
BBC is only for you to apply... When you apply using your forecast result, the minimum is you need BBC. After you get your conditional offer, they will require you to get a better results than BBC in your actual results, which normally is ABB..... Why? I don't know.. Maybe they just want to make you worried that you are not going to get into IMU if you fail to get better results, and so you'll study really hard to prepare yourself for med school.... hahaha...

Anyway, I don't know how imu decides which student to take in, but I've known that some of my jpa friends who applied and came into the feb intake like me using FORECAST RESULT were on conditional offers and at that time, the cut off to stay and continue is to get ABB in ther actual results. But one of my friends who already got her actual a levels result and used her ACTUAL RESULT with BBBB came in and need not bother to meet the cut off of ÄBB. So, it's much of a ''the early bird catches the worm'' and ''who got the money i'll take that one first'' seriously...

If you think you can secure all A's in your a levels, I'm pretty sure they will take u in as most of the students here are straight A's.

As for the study part... We study most of the things by ourselves and in my opinion, i don't think it's a bad thing at all. U'll get to learn in a hard way, by your own. Lecturers are only there to introduce you into certain topics, but after that it all depends on yourself.

Like what Limeuu said before which I strongly agree is that,

a medical student normally does not have problem in understanding, just some problem with memorizing.

Cheers. =)

ABB is because those PMS are of reputable universities, surely their entry requirements are more than BBC.

why IMU accepts u?its because if u can't make it to the PMS programme, you still can stay back in the local programme in which IMU can earn more of your money.

its a marketing strategy ..........

wao... U mean the local ones are those leftovers? I'll pity my local counterparts if u meant that way.

not all la.

i am referring to some of those who are academically unworthy..

IMU local places are only about 70.. the rest are all bound for PMS...hence there is not much tight control for the PMS intake...

correct me if i am wrong. smile.gif

Hey want to ask any IMU dental students out there. I understand the IMU website stated that the total cost for the 5 year local dental programme is 450k. Now I would love to know what is the approximate net total for the whole course - inclusive of all the other additional fees they may charge. Would it reach 500k? Thanks in advance. Just want to do some financial planning
*
yes it will.

IMU increases their price by maximum 10% every 2 years.
