I just realised one thing; that I started supporting Liverpool not because I watched them play. I was a fan even before that because of the stories that were told to me and more importantly, the manner in which they were told. If you've watched interviews of players, past and present, or fans when asked about the club, you'll see a spark light up in their eye and they speak with a great deal of passion. Such was the case when we met the legendary Phil Neal in the flesh. My friend had the same passion and fire in his eyes when talking about the club to me. I was sold even before watching my first game. I didn't know if we played good football at the time, only that we were a great team with deep lying traditions. I've not changed my stance because my loyalty has never wavered regardless of how poor we are on the pitch. I never once thought of jumping ship even though we've not won the league for 20 years. The 90's was particularly tough with the mancs winning everything but fortunately for me, it wasn't all about winning for me. It was about feelng a sense of belonging.

Well in a nutshell that's why I am and always will be a Liverpool fan. Success comes in spurts and is therefore temporary, while history and folklore echo in the halls of eternity.

hmmm, i forgot if i have posted here before, but i quickly glanced through the pages and i guess i did not. well, im one of those guys that think football is just a boring game with so many people going after one ball. what's more is that it takes up like almost 2 hours of your time when you sit down and watch the game. couple of years back, which i dont remember, it could be longer than a couple, there was a football advert on tv that played Blue Day. the song got stuck in my mind for a while but i still wasnt a football fan at the time. it wasnt until last year, when it was almost the end of the premiership and champion's league that my football fan buddies asked me out to watch the game with them. it was one of chelsea's game that time and so i kept asking questions. i did not know about them being a winning team at all when i declared myself as a chelsea fan. so i guess im still a new fan considering that it just started last year. but thats what makes me support chelsea fc smile.gif

It's been so long that I need to rewind back to '94, when I was only 8 (how many people actually started supporting a club at that age?). I started to have interest in sports and being a young and gullible kid, I guess I supported the winning team at that era and it there was only one - Manchester United and honestly that must be one of my wisest choices in my life. It is even more special when you're a Man Utd fan, growing up with Cantona and the treble team in their glory days. It's been 15 years now and I never regreted supporting them. I can never see myself supporting another club. Manchester United forever!

Years 1984

Father : want to follow me..
Me : ok...

entering our neighbors house and sit at the sofa and watch the tv and my father talking with his friends...

its a football match betwwen Red Jersey and (Yellow i think)....

the things come into my head.....'who was in Red shirt that score goals? so beautiful ....

and after that i heard the words 'Liverpool'......

from that time....my loyalty to this club never faded...even though, im nearly lost in my own world....and when i came back to football..i still find my only one...Liverpool FC

now im 30++ years old....and im proud to be one of the fans for a great club...

If you compare the amount of money spent, you will realise Man Utd spend so much lesser than Chelsea, Liverpool and all other premier league teams...

LMAO. Man Utd spend the less among the Big 4? Did Wenger spend more money than Ferguson? How much does Veron, RVN, Rooney, Berbatov, Ferdinand, Hargreaves, Carrick cost? I'm not trying to flame any Man Utd fans, but the statement you made here are hilarious. In terms of net spending - taking into account income from sales - the clubs are much the same. Liverpool's net spending over five years on players is £82.5million and United's has been £85.5million. Meanwhile, Chelsea spent £154.8million net on players during that time and Arsenal just £3.4million. United’s gross spending since June 2004 totals £221.95 million compared with £212.6 million by Liverpool. Ferguson’s net spending over that period is £147.90 million compared with Benítez’s £111.39 million. Get your facts right, please.

I support Arsenal because of Wenger and King Henry. They didn't win as many trophy as Man Utd but it doesn't stop me from loving the Gunners.

You didn't mention players like Beckham, Neville, and Giggs are all free... they were produced by the great academy of Man Utd... In fact, Man utd have the greatest academy in english football... and thats the reason why i support Man U in the first place..

Football clubs nowadays just don't produce young players anymore, all they know is buying players from other clubs...

What a biased Arsenal fan...

Is harsh to call him bias, no?The figures are official figures that had been repeated for N times and of course the likes of Beckham, neville who came free were included in the figure. The profit from the selling Of beckham was included in it which is why the net spending of manu was reduced. How is that bias?

And no offense, I found your post funny. You make it sounds like manu is the only club that do not buy young players from other clubs. Where did the Tosic, Nani, Anderson, etc come from? Pretty bias statement from you, no? wink.gif
