I support the game.
No particular clubs. I have Liverpool, Manchester United, Roma, Fiorentina, England etc. jerseys, bought them cause they looked nice.
However, if you were to gunpoint me and ask me to choose, I'd say Liverpool.
Fantastic history, fantastic heritage, fantastic fans, fantastic players, fantastic atmosphere and fantastic spirit. I truly respect this club.

I saw Zidane at the 98 World Cup. Then he got transferred to Madrid. I followed him there and then I realised Madrid is truly the greatest the club in the world.

Before i watched football, i think this is another stupid sport with 22 retards chasing for a ball until i watched arsenal playing back in 1998.
The flow and the pace of their game just amazed me.

Few reasons for my love for Liverpool since 1980s -during that time, Liverpool gets the most TV coverage since they were in most finals and RTM/TV3 could only afford to show very little live football on TV
-history- there was hillsborough, Heysel stadium. These things makes u more passionate to follow a club through and through
-the beautiful football Liverpool played. There are lots of criticism now about Liverpool being boring as compare to Arsenal and MU but believe it or not, during 1970s till end of 80's Liverpool were one of the most exciting team. Their passing game is very continental and there were players such as Barnes, Dalglish, Beardsley who were exciting in every way. Oh...way back then, Arsenal were a boring 0-0, 1-0, 1-1 team. I remembered being upset at Houllier's last 2 years because the football was very negative. At least Rafa tend to mix it a little bit.
Like any true love, there is the pain and joy. You really need to visit a cardilogist and make sure your heart is strong if you want to follow Liverpool.. for example..
The pain: Liverpool is the only team who lost a league title on the last day of the season. Somemore they were playing against the 2nd place team! They needed to avoid losing 2-0 to Arsenal at Anfield and guess what ? Arsenal scored a last minute goal to snatch the title from them..Where to find such drama? Because of that , we missed the chance of a double..
FA cup final vs Wimbledon. The ugliest of all underdogs vs the beauty of Liverpool..Guess what? We lost and our leading goal scorer, missed the Penalty! Another double gone...
But of course, there were sheer joy...where to find a club that goes through A CL final like the one we had in Istanbul? An FA cup final like last season vs West Ham? Or the late late 2 goals from Owen to snatch the FA cup from Arsenal? Remember Olympiakos, three goals needed in one half and guess who pop out and scored with a ferocious volley? do you realise that a very important person that night was Neil Mellor, who never really made it and is already sold? Sometimes, you feel these fairy tales are written...
and check out our epic FA cup final vs Everton in the mid 1980s...
and of course, all the Epic battle against MU and Arsenal..
I've seen it all, triumph, tragedy, dominance, wilderness...man, Liverpool offer a complete package!!!!!!

1. Eric Cantona. Attracted to his style when he play with Leeds. Then he moved to Man Utd. Man Utd supporter ever since.
2. Young players. When Man Utd about to dominate English Football, there were plenty of young players. @ that time there were McManaman, Kewell and Giggs. Cantona + Giggs is too much to resist.
Nowadays, I like to watch team with potential young player in it - not just Man Utd.
3. Attractive style of football

When Roman came in, he pumped a lot of money. So, Chelsea can buy ready made world class players. And he can buy the best manager he wants too.

Look at all my stars!!
|
It was back in 1987/88 when I was in primary school when a friend of mine went on and on about a football team called Liverpool. Not being a football fan at the time, his words hit me like water off stone, but after months of constant mention, I just had to find out who Liverpool where. I had heard him bring up the names of Alan Hansen, Bruce Grobbelar, Ian Rush, John Barnes and Peter Beardsley but I could not put faces to their names. Back then we did not have ASTRO and RTM only aired EPL highlights that were 2 weeks old! The only live matches you could catch were cup finals like Dunhill's 'Road To Wembley' programme. Information on The Reds were also hard to come by because there was no internet at the time. I relied on football magazines like 'Shoot' and 'Match' that were selling for only RM3 at the time. Look at the prices now!
John Barnes was a mercurial winger and my favourite player at the time. If fans today think that Beckham was deadly at free-kicks, I tell ya, Barnes had a left foot that was just as deadly. To top it off, he had silky smooth skills and fantastic pace. Needless to say, I watched every game Liverpool played after that and fell in love with the noise emanating from the then, standing Kop. I feel in love with "You'll Never Walk Alone". I wasn't that Liverpool were a winning team, it was that I saw the passion in their players and the fans. I knew that if a set of fans could be so obsessed with their team, it surely must be a special team. The rest as they say is history.
Speaking of history, I began digging up any reading material I could find about the club. I read of Shankly, Paisley, Fagan. I read about The Spion Kop. I read about the bootroom. I read about everything and anything I could find on LFC. My education continues until today. This year after 19 long years, I was fortunate enough to make my pilgrimage to Anfield. I felt a sense of belonging. I felt what it was like to be part of the very special fans I had tonnes of admiration for. I was now a part of the noise I fell in love with 19 years ago.
Not long after I began my support, Kenny Dalglish announced his resignation and in came Greame Souness. It was a tough time being a Liverpool supporter at the time I tell ya. Barrel loads of Man Utd fans were sprouting from everywhere and Liverpool fans were getting stick from them all the time, as we went through a decade of mediocrity, finishing 7th at one point. As Souness tried to impose himself he rid the club of quality players like Barnes, Beardsley and Houghton. In came pedestrian players like Mark Walters, Mike Marsh, Paul Stewart and Phil Babb. Gone were the days of glory and our resolve as Liverpool fans were truly tested. To borrow a few lines from "You'll Never Walk Alone", some of us Liverpool fans had to...
Walk on through the wind, Walk on through the rain, Though your dreams be tossed and blown.. Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart, And you'll never walk alone.
Low and behold, before I knew it Souness was out, and in came Evans and Houllier. Back came the glory days and there was not prouder moment for me than 2005. I had heard stories of 77,78, 81 and 84 but I had never witnessed such occasions with my own eyes. In 2005 I wept tears of joy as I knew, I was now part of Liverpool FC history. I would now have my own stories to tell my children (well I have to get married first).
I've said before that not many fans here have gone through dark days, well I went through a dark decade and my resolve was tested. Most Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea fans have not gone through hard times. These days, not a winning a trophy in 1 season is considered a tragedy! You can understand why Liverpool fans like myself always talk about how fickle and impatient fans today are. You can understand how we are skeptical of fans who claim to love their club after a mere 5 years or so of support. We are skeptical because we are not convinced that many of these fans will still be standing by their club if they were just an average side that more often than not, won nothing. I can speak for anyone else, but my resolve has been tested and I know, I will.

My first encounter with football was WC 94 but I wasn't a big fan then. It was only till 1998 that i started catching a few regular games here and there but i didn't support any team. At that time no team had actually caught my eye or my heart so to speak. Of course 1998 was the year Real Madrid ended their 32 year wait for a European triumph. But i didn't really pay much attention then. It was in Euro 2000 that a certain Luis Figo bedazzled me with his dribbling and playmaking skills...he quickly became my favourite player. And after that summer he made one of the most shocking transfers in European football: joining Real Madrid from Barcelona. I didn't really understand the rivalry back then but it got me interested in the club named as the "Best of the 20th Century". I wanted to know why. From there i researched about the club's history and it got me hooked. Barca with all their Catalan pride and fancy football never cut it with me. Real Madrid was about passion first and foremost; countless stories of players like Di Stefano, Puskas, Butragueno, Juanito, and in more recent times Hierro, Raul which embodied the Real Madrid spirit of sweating tears and blood for the white shirt. It's been 7 years now....obviously I haven't supported the club as long as some ppl like Duke Red (but I'm not as old as him; 87/88 i wasn't even in kindergarten yet! ) but I know in my heart that i will support the legendary Whites till the day I leave this world.
