QUOTE(attw @ Jul 11 2018, 08:53 AM) Yeah, the thing is I tried the AirPods at the Apple SG store last year and they didn't sound that impressive, even more so without NC. The Airpods are never meant to sound on par with those high end earphones. I have them and i find them pretty decent, just abit punchy on the bass. The whole idea of AirPods is convenience. The battery life is pretty decent, I charge them once every 3 days. Form factor is key. Its small enough to fit in my pockets, I literally carry them around. The only downside is as mentioned, the lack of NC. Quite annoying in crowded areas but you cant have the best of both worlds I guess. Oh they do look weird on your ears if you walk around with them lol.

Reports are saying that all 3 models of the 2018 iPhones will be using the eSIM technology. It's about time to throw the plastic sim card out of the window. eSIM technologyThis post has been edited by Yen8on3: Jul 14 2018, 01:46 PM

QUOTE(attw @ Jul 14 2018, 03:09 PM) Is it available in our country though? I don't see any benefits of this technology. It would not benefit us as users though as this will only enable telcos and network providers to limit users switching to other telcos. ON Apple' s side, all I see is another one of their manipulative tactics on controlling everything even on the selection and choice of telcos. Agree, I think many countries don’t have the e-SIM just yet so we’ll definitely get regular iPhones still come September.

Esim will discourage frequent traveler. It is a negative feature for me Apple with this move is tying up the US telcos commitment to their phones.

E-sim is a GSMA standard and not some proprietary standard. Back then everyone was complaining about microsim and nanosim cause it is hard to switch to other phones because other manufacturers were lagging behind on the compliance std. And then everyone thought was an Apple standard.
Anyway e-sim is meant to complement IoT where it is easier to connect across multiple devices then by just using a normal SIM card. It is also tons better than a dual sim whereby it is limited to two due to the physical space they need whereby for the esim it can encompass as many accounts as it can as the chip improves.

Yeah, but knowing how behind our telcos are I think it'll be some time before we see it here
