are using Riger modem that comes standard with tmnet streamyx package?

Hey guys, intending to join into xbox gaming soon. Have some question which i still am curious after reading the FAQ section.

Is the Gold membership region locked in any way? --> Cancel this, missed out this part earlier while reading the FAQ
Where can i get the cards? Dont intend to use credit card for this

And if I am to make a gamer tag, which region should I make if i intend to play with other malaysia?

For starter, you can have any region of the console attached with any region of xboxlive gamertag you want.

However, the gold card and ms points will be region-restricted to the gamertag region (not necessarily the console's region). But then there are gold cards (mostly the 1 year card) that are successfully activated with another region gamertag, if I'm not mistaken. But then, better be safe. And to add, japanese live cards is a big NO.

About region migration, yes you can do that. But you can only do that ONCE. So i'd say you don't wanna do that.

As for region lock, it's actually a bit too tight. It's not checking the region you're pllaying by your region gamertag. It actually checks your IP address. So, let's take example of downloading a DLC pack for COD Black Ops, if you got a singapore gamertag you can only perform the download from singapore (or through VPN). The good news is, most of the downloadables from xbox live game marketplace aren't region-locked at all.

For prices, i'd like to say that the price isn't much different from sellers here. Most of them only differs in bundle, depending on stocks they have (eg: some annual subscription card got extra 2 months, some are bundled with points, etc). Btw for the more adventurous people, for US gold cards the price will be lot cheaper on ebay around black Monday to xmas, since some retailers are doing discount or some even selling their presents (same case as iTunes card, and everything else). But yeah, I won't recommend this.

I wanted to switch my account from SG to US, just matter of time of expiry on my gold member.

Wonder, will my dlc like SSF AE Edition, will still playable? Or only playable through my original SG's account only?

Reason for switching : Cheaper M$ Points, more DLC, More entertainment news and promo.
