Wow ! Gemstone with 4Gb RAM , 8600M GT , 200Gb HDD jusr RM 4299 ?! Wow this one is another great choice!
Well, do anyone ever do video and animation authoring on a laptop with specificatonas around the S41 or Gemstone? I need a laptop that can proccess the video/animatinas fast as possible. On my current PC, I don't even bother to proccess a 1 minutes project ... very very slow... (2600+, 768Mb DDR400, 9550) ><
(ps: the gemstone performance wise, but the design abit KO for me... argh maybe nvm.)

? Maybe someone post some mistaken info on the web ... argh bummer ... then the spec might m\just around S41 ... Hmm, S41 design better. (I DO NOT like white colour). Just hope such spec like S41 able to suit my havy multitasking task. Normally I run WMP (play music) while I doing my web sork with Adobe GoLive CS2 and Adobe Photoshop CS2. Sometime running PS and After Effect along. My main working softwares are Adobe, which are very power hungry stuff. And I also run PS2 Emulator (PCSX2), I hope such spec can run FFX and X2 with much playable framerate around 40fps... This post has been edited by M1X: Jun 22 2007, 02:12 PM

I still believe 2.0ghz is just nice, but still not the best. I think you can live with Acer, white colour is just the inside outside still black. if money is an issue you have to get BenQ S41. FYI chick love white. This post has been edited by Spiv: Jun 22 2007, 02:26 PM

"I hate white colour" And that's why my stuff all in black. And almost all works I do are in black/dark colour...
I much like S41 compare to that one. Any other good recommendation from other names such as Asus? No need to mention G1 and G2... they make me jump sea only... >< Unless PTPTN so kind enough to put those over extra loan to my bank account... (extra RM8K around... o_+)

There is no other brand that suite you, Other spec i think you will take it throw to the sea.

Like i said, go for the fastest cpu u can and ram, i understand the Adobe GoLive along with PhotoShop.. ahh it is still manageable for me even im on single-core. Doing demo or clips for cs, argh it takes like forever to render everything. U can sacrifice ur gpu here, as u r not demanding optimum performance in terms of gaming. Hope this helps.

Very hard to choose... Buying a laptop now don't mean use it for now. At least it can survive around 3-5 years... Too bad Samsung don't really like to have their laptop with GPU, mostly they point for mobile purpose... Their design very good, but lack performance to suit my use ... T_T
I started learn After Effect last month and able to pull off some simple works. But just to render a 30 seconds 25fps animation already takes me quite a time, while it is exporting, I can even go masak mee and go watch TV first .. T_T.

U could change attitude about the color issue, color shud be above budget or priority. Color shud be like the lowest priority. Worst case, paint-brushed it to black. Done. (ull void ur warranty tho).
Added on June 22, 2007, 2:33 pmoh samsung dont like the gpu? so that suits u then, u dont need gpu power that much.. err i think i have repeated myself here.. or am i missing anything here?

3-5 years? depends on the use and demands.. especially for ur type of activities it might get faster than that say like 2 years max perhaps.. really depends.
Added on June 22, 2007, 2:37 pmGood luck with that. Hope i was being helpful.

Well, for gaming; if games like Colin McRae Dirt or NFS Pro Street as well as Assassins Creed (all these are my most wanted), able to run on acceptable fps are OK. Well, just hope able to play them around 1024X768 medium setting with 25fps at least. I don't wanna miss out the gaming scene even while I busy with my works though. Anyone played the Colin McRae Dirt on laptop with similiar performance than S41?

AC? i suspected that.. but we wont know until we really try it. Just limit ur hopes to a certain level, that will be my advice. I dont say it wont work, it might works fine or it might not satisfied ur needs. It is safer not to put a really high expectation on that.

And from the reviews it seems that the insides of the Gemstone isn't actually white at all (as it seems in the adverts), its the usual Acer grey... Which is worse... As for me and my M1210, I probably need an XBox 360 for AC... This post has been edited by Eiraku: Jun 22 2007, 03:10 PM

All those games I listed are modern games with new game engines, and so their graphics are more superior than their previous series. I really donno laptop like S41 will run those games or not, just give it a try... Mobile gaming otday still not very easy to achieve...

Most likely when I get my Gemstone, will probably make a custom skin for it...... Probably along the lines of a Rebel Flag (the dixie one, not the star wars one).... that's why the white doesn't bother me.....
On the other hand, the white DOES suit my iPod well....
Hmmmmmmmmmm......

Ipod.... I don't like white stuff. My earlier PC was white, and I repaint them black full set. Last time I also buy a new black casing for my 2nd PC. If it metalic silver then still nevermind, I using a mouse with glossy silver and glossy black color, nice. Donno why I hate white, maybe it too bright and make my eye pain.
