Planning to get a notebook for my son going to college. Appreciate recommendations:

1. Preferred brand: Any except Acer
2. Budget: around 3.5k
3. With graphic card (any type) instead of Intel HD for some gaming capability
4. Weight: Lightweight (1 - 1.5 kg) for portability
5. Screen: Non-glare
6. With backlit keyboard

Thanks.

Is battery life important to you? You might need to increase your budget if you want dGPU+light weight. Also, thin laptops with small chassis (13 inch for instance) will have mediocre cooling.

Hello everyone! Looking at a laptop akin to a Macbook/entry Macbook Pro that combines portability, all day battery life and a good screen. Will use it mainly for light work

1. Preferred brand : Any
2. Budget : 3.5k
3. Usage : Light work
4. Screen Size : FHD max 13.3 inches
5. Others: SSD is preferred, an IPS panel with accurate colours is preferred as well.

I understand that this is a tough ask in this price category. Maybe there are laptops that come close with some compromises that I will be able to bare with. Thanks

Battery life not so critical I guess. Can roughly go up to RM4k if such a a model only available in this price.

2. Budget : RM5k (can go slightly higher)
3. Usage : Graphic and video editing
4. Screen Size : 13

13 inch laptops don't have good cooling. Anyway, go for something with KBL-R CPU like Asus UX331 and HP Envy 13

Soldered on board. Cannot remove

Where did you find the Ideapad 330? Still not launched yet in Malaysia

What are your requirements? For 2k budget you might want to consider used Thinkpad like T430, T520 and T440s. If you prefer new, consider Chuwi stuffs

lol don't know I saw this laptop on their web site for rm2.2.
Just want a laptop with the latest coffee lake chip and at least 16gb of ram. But if can't remove that 4gb of ram it going g to be a problem and know if there even an extra slot to add another 8gb of ram?
