hi Slick69,

Thanks for the recommendation. Just wonder is Aces laptop still stable? I know that last time Acer laptop always has many hardware problem. For Thunderobot 911 SE, is the warranty claim easy?

Thanks.

Dell usually has the best aftersales service, unfortunately most of their laptops in this price range don't have good battery life.

Acer Swift 3 14 (SF314-54/54G, new model) - need RAM upgrade
Acer Swift 3 15
Acer Spin 5 13

Also consider HP Envy 13, Asus UX331UA/UX331UN, Asus UX430UA, Lenovo Ideapad 320s 14 (need RAM+SSD upgrades), Acer Aspire 5 (i7 model with IPS, need RAM upgrade)

For Thunderobot, they are quite new, but as long as you send it to a big store like Thundermatch, they will handle it for you. Let the store do your work.

I wouldn't worry much about warranty, gaming laptop like this are actually very robust. Even IF the warranty is bad, anything that broke, is pretty easy to get it replaced

I see that you are an average user. Then I change my recommendation
If you're a college student :
I highly recommend that you buy the Thunderobot.

In short it had it's problems, but you can handle it. It should pass up as an office laptop. Use it as usual.
Just remove the battery before gaming, prop it up with a book and enjoy. Use ac or a table fan to keep it cool.

Besides, you'll be stupid not to get a 1050 ti laptop at RM3499!

-They may use cheaper thermal paste and low power fans, but the Core i5 7300HQ isn't too hot to begin with. So are the 1050 ti.
-The CPU shouldn't bottleneck the GPU. Getting a Core i7 does nothing to games.
-Hot but manageable.
-Thunderobot exhaust heat to your right hand, but you just prop it up with a book or something, big deal.
-SSD is hard to die on you, HDD is slow and I recommend changing it to an SSD ASAP. But it's FINE to use just as.
-The screen is low end IPS, but you won't find any better. Asus is using even worst screen but no one is complaining.
-Battery is surprisingly OK. You can even take it off to avoid overcharging and overheating the battery
As for Acer, it's more for office work with some gaming. Hardware failures are a bit on the luck side, I never had big problems with Acer yet.

Your odds are 70/100 with 30% chance of hardware failures.

They have been improving but my overall opinion is they are still the same old Acer. The ones we don't see, they will use cheap stuff.

Cons for the Acer are:

-Hot or throttled performance
-it's sure got SSD but slow. Still a hell of a lot faster than the fastest hdd though.
-IPS but not the best, pretty dim.
-Actually still quite heavy.

Hi Silk69,

Thanks again for you detail explanation. Ha ha actually I am not a student, an old man already. I just need a laptop with big screen, good to view for long hours and also will project it to external 27'inch monitor, mostly to view on trading chart. Occasionally also do some video editing and gaming. Is it only gaming laptop that able to give good graphic and on big screen?

Thanks

Slightly worse CPU (7300HQ), slightly worse build quality, worse battery life. Only get it if you need more GPU performance
