1. Preferred brand : No preference
2. Budget : Less than 2k 3. Usage : Light gaming (Sims 4, Dota, etc.), Youtube, light video editing and Microsoft office. 4. Screen Size : No preference. The laptop will be mostly plugged into my TV where I will watch youtube and edit videos so the weight and battery life doesn't really matter. Hope all the knowledgeable Sifu's here can recommend me something. Thanks in advance This post has been edited by waikin89: Feb 7 2018, 06:41 PM |

I've narrowed down what I want but I need more experienced input to make my decision.
1. Preferred brand : Alienware 13 R3/MSI GS63VR 7RF 2. Budget : 6-8k 3. Usage : Creative content editing(adobe suite) & 3D modeling (some light rendering), so I will want thunderbolt 3 port(for additional juice & a little more futureproof if needed). 4. Screen Size : of course bigger is better but no preference, really. So for aw13 r3, i couldnt find any display set, so i could only imagine a smaller size of aw15 on display. Pros: Price (as quoted on dell website) Compact/Portable Build Quality (seems to have it at least) Display ( Cons: Screen Size Bulky compared amongst the size range For MSI GS63VR 7RF, Pros: Slim factor (i'd get razor if the price is not crazy and the availability in MY/SG) Screen size Cons: Price Build Quality/design (seems somewhat flimsy when press on certain parts of the laptop, theres a bit of flexing going on) Display (not too sure about this, seems alright at the shop but i dont know how color accurate it is for color grading work) I'm leaning towards MSI despite aw13 having more pros because of the screen size and the minimal design, minus the logo of course. My concern is MSI's display, is it good enough for creative content works? I'm considering aw13 because the specs is similar, better actually, for the price. The display, from what i've seen online and on youtube, seems pretty good. I can accept the screen size since I can connect it to a monitor at home and its small enough for me to carry around and work anywhere. So that's as much I can sum myself from what I've researched online and from visiting stores. Good advice or better option is very much appreciated |

QUOTE(mdnurman @ Feb 17 2018, 11:37 PM) Dear sifu I have similar model given by the company. Build quality wise is okay (although mine have some creaking sound). Keyboard is good. Display is good. Battery life not so good (could be due to OneDrive syncing). Take the SSD option as the normal hard drive seems to be on the slow side (in comparison to my personal laptop using SSD). The trackpad is good too. If you're using Excel a lot then perhaps check online reviews as well for better understanding. My personal use wise, it does struggle when a few Excel files are opened simultaneously but again it could be due to traditional hard drive rather than SSD.For office and statistical works. No games.
