Hey, I'm going college soon and I need a notebook to do work on. I don't game, I have a pc for that so I don't want something made for that.

1. Preferred brand : Any
2. Budget : 600 good enough?
3. Usage : Schoolwork, nothing intensive
4. Screen Size : Any
5. Other:

I am eyeing at Chromebooks, so please suggest those as I believe windows laptops will be crap at this price anyway. If it's not wise to purchase something at all for this price range, please knock sense into me.

Thanks all!

1. Preferred brand : any known brand
2. Budget : Less than RM 3,500
3. Usage : Word processing, ppt, excel, web browsing
4. Screen Size : Less than 15"

Looking for an ultra-portable that I can easily lug around to do work on the spot. Gaming only happens after work, so I'll need one with TB3 port. I'll set aside a different budget for external GPU. Hence the laptop can run off intel graphics, not an issue for my needs.

Thanks sifu sifu sekalian.

The budget can be moved a bit but I'm looking for ultraportable with TB3. Larger/normal/gaming form factor won't work for my needs. Thanks

sifus,

Planning to buy my first ever laptop As i need a personal computer for my own things.. Dont like my stuff getting mixed with others...
(common desktop used bought in 2015 - i5 4460, 8gb ram, Asus mobo b85mg, intergrated graphics)

1. Preferred brand :
any , as long specs gives best bang for bucks
(1 that is durable and has reputation that lasts)
B4 this ppl mentioned ASUS / toshiba? Then dell?
(Read through some of the stickies and gathered a few brand names which garnered bad feedbacks but will not bring up here, so not to spoil this thread )

2. Budget :
2.5k +-
(Don't mind spending a bit more as long as I can stretch my ringgit (durable and can last the extra few years in terms of the tech and specs)

3. Usage :
Use at home/ mostly internet browsing/ bit of work (mostly google docs)(light photo edit) / gaming not really ..

4. Screen Size : does not really matter - as long can fit in my bag pack ... I am a male so not too small I guess. And must be clear and easy for the eyes (1 of the reasons I never liked laptops in the past is bcoz it's very strenuous for the eyes)

Pls provide suggestions plz..

Thanks in advance !

Hi,

For the same amount of money, which spec would be better for MBP13?

a)
2.0GHz
Dual-core Intel Core i5
258gb

b)
2.7GHz Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
Intel Core i5
128gb

I am deciding between the 2.
I am using the laptop for work like Ms Word, Ms Excel, storing and uploading photos and videos (with minor edits) and streaming videos.

Thanks

1. Preferred brand :
Any brand is fine.

2. Budget :
Not more than RM3k

3. Usage :
Mainly work purposes (excel, words, etc), light gaming. Will be carrying it around very often, so lightweight-average weight would be good.

4. Screen Size :
14-inch

Had been using Dell Vostro 5470 i7 for almost 4 years now. Generally really liked it because it was light and are pretty good in managing multiple tabs and applications open at the same time. But well, maybe because it is getting old, it had been constantly overheating and not responding. Which is why I decided to buy a new laptop. But yeah, any kind of laptop similar with the current laptop that I am using is pretty good. smile.gif
