Hey there,

I'm looking for a laptop to recommend for my elder brother, who will be going to Taiwan next month to study IT. Here's are his requirements:

Preferred brand: Asus, Acer
Budget: Under RM 4000, but he's okay with anything slightly above that.
Usage: He will be studying IT, so maybe he will be using it for programming stuff. Otherwise, he will be only playing LoL (or any eSports titles). He also wanted it to be light and has a good amount of RAM. Upgradability would be a big plus.

So far I have been thinking about recommending the Asus Vivobook S S510U-NBQ174T for him. Are there any other laptops that are potentially better than this one?

Also, my brother told me that laptops made from Taiwanese companies would be easier to claim warranty there. Was he correct?

Hi, just started college and need a laptop. Not sure whether to get a Chromebook or Windows.

1. Preferred brand : Asus, Dell, or other brand with better bargain
2. Budget : Under RM1k, Max RM1.5k
3. Usage : Google doc, Microsoft Office(online), Chrome
4. Screen Size : 13" or smaller
5. Others: Long battery-life, not too heavy, touchscreen(optional)

Just looking for a cheap laptop to do assignments and browse chrome. Already have a desktop for gaming and heavier tasks.

Update: He wanted at least 8 GB RAM for his laptop. And also just as a note, he will be using his laptop in Taiwan for a long time, so if his laptop broke at that time, he wanted peace of mind for that.

I want to buy the Lenovo Gaming Laptop with i7 7700HQ, 1050 GTX...

But with the Spectre and Meltdown patches that seem like degrading the CPU performance, will it also affect gaming and emulation (CEMU and RPCS3)?

What about when using emulation? Emulation is CPU intensive right?

Currently looking to pick up a laptop as I'll be traveling quite often. Looking for 1060 6gb, 16gb ram at least. Something I can play PUBG and csgo with when I'm traveling. Thanks. If lightweight... even better, but feel like asking for too much already. Also if possible, can pay monthly.

Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G-59Z0 for under 2.5k, good?

I just want a tougher laptop, my previous Toshiba cracked and constantly died due to overheating (i blame the Radeon GPU)

Am considering Vivobook series for similar price but since they are slimmer, i am afraid that the cooling system is not really good.

Mainly for assignments, thesis, picture editing, series binge watching, and light gaming.
