QUOTE(lucifah @ Jun 14 2007, 10:12 PM) that looks ghey... Seconded, but granted, it's miles better then the current designs... For me anyway... it's true then. Dell has bought acer and has absorbed acer's design into their product lines. this product looks too much like the ghey gemstone laptop And I hope the new M1330 turns out as the marketing images (aka, "not bad")... |

QUOTE(porkchop @ Jun 14 2007, 10:43 PM) The highest load games I have running smoothly would be either STALKER or Fry Cry (with HDR), and after a 1-2 hour session of either, CPU goes to 60c++, GPU to 70c++ and Memory to 60c++ (according to I8kfanGUI anyway)... Compare that with the idle temps I have right now (CPU: 46, GPU: 50 and MEM: 49)... I'd say yeah, it gets hot quickly enough... But if it breaches the 80c mark on any of the three, something might be up... QUOTE(hi54ever @ Jun 15 2007, 12:27 AM) finally things seems to be back to normal, guess i cauht up with some bad ass spyware, lol, pf usage remain float at arnd 400 mb, normal level for me after startup this mornin, i mean at my place.thanks guys for the help and by the way, m1330 dam cool man....i heard from my fren in dell, thought the size is bigger but its much lighter than 1210, how light izzit?? That's good to hear, thank god! Yeah, the M1330 seems to be larger then the M1210, but it's thinner and thus lighter... I'd say it'll be around 0.5 kg lighter then the M1210... But that's just a guess... Added on June 15, 2007, 1:06 amOn a side note, it seems that the 160.03 Vista Nvidia drivers from laptopvideo2go.com works really well on the M1210... Everything is a bit faster then on the official Dell drivers, and errors and problems in several games are gone (Far Cry dark sky + HDR and GalCiv2 general video error, both gone)... AND the driver is stable enough to NOT kill itself every few minutes (try the 165.01 release and you'll understand)... Granted, I encountered one instance of graphic corruption while playing Far Cry right after installing the drivers, but a few reboots later, nothing seems out of place (and Far Cry + HDR is absolutely fabulous on the M1210, albeit only playable in reduced resolutions)... And FEAR is playable as well (165.01, the newest driver just crashes FEAR outright)... Not to mention the LCD Scaling options, colour and gamma controls are back on the Nvidia control panel... I'd say, if some of you guys are running Vista and want 7400go drivers that are slightly better then the Dell ones, try out the 160.03 drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com ... Just keep in mind that it's an Inf-Mod driver, and not an official driver, so don't freak out if some anomalies show up... This post has been edited by Eiraku: Jun 15 2007, 01:08 AM |

How do I install the driver from laptopvideo2go?
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index....showtopic=13250 Should I download the driver or the Modded INF file? I read the how-to but the first step said something about installing " *.exe driver package to your desktop (in this case 9727_vista.exe)". Which one is the 9727_vista.exe file? Is it the driver's file name? |

QUOTE(eyen @ Jun 15 2007, 04:29 PM) How do I install the driver from laptopvideo2go? This calls for another HOW-TO... Robin, to the Batmobile! http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index....showtopic=13250 Should I download the driver or the Modded INF file? I read the how-to but the first step said something about installing " *.exe driver package to your desktop (in this case 9727_vista.exe)". Which one is the 9727_vista.exe file? Is it the driver's file name? INSTALLING DRIVERS FROM LAPTOPVIDEO2GO VISTA HOW-TO DISCLAIMER: THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE OR IMPERFECTIONS IN GRAPHICS QUALITY RESULTING FROM THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS. THE DRIVERS FROM THE GIVEN WEBSITE ARE BETAS AND ARE THEREFORE NOT AS STABLE AS THE DELL ONES... ...(BUT THEY CAN SOMETIMES BE A HECK OF A LOT BETTER). 1. Download the driver (Best tested for Vista 32-bit: 160.03) from the driver forum thread (click on the driver name on the driver download screen to access the forum thread). Click on "100 SERIES DRIVERS" on top of the thread (access main thread) and pick the Vista 32bit 160.03 drivers (clicking on the name defaults to the 64bit Vista driver thread, dunno why)... 2. Download the INF from the same thread. 3. Unpack the driver (its a self executing archive) in a safe folder (say c:\16003). 4. Copy the INF file you downloaded into the folder. Overwrite any existing files. That takes care of the preparations. Now to the installing part of the deal. 1. Go to Control Panel --> Device Manager. 2. Go to Display adapters --> NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400. 3. Right click and choose "UPDATE DRIVER SOFTWARE". 4. Pick "BROWSE MY COMPUTER FOR DRIVER SOFTWARE". 5. Pick "LET ME PICK FROM A LIST OF DEVICE DRIVERS ON MY COMPUTER". 6. Click on the "HAVE DISK" button at the bottom of the list. 7. Browse to the folder you unpacked your driver to (e.g. C:\16003). 8. Double click on the .inf file (there should only be one file to click on anyway). 9. The list will be updated, and only one entry would be shown now (NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400). 10. Choose it and press NEXT. 11. Vista will update the drivers (just press okay for any error messages, for instance: "THIS DRIVER HAS NOT PASSED COMPATIBILITY TESTING" or anything of the sort. Just press OK) and ask for a reboot. Do this NOW. 12. Profit! I don't have XP any more, so maybe derred can whip up an XP how-to later... Cause, as I remembered, installing drivers under XP can be a little bit more complex (complete uninstall of old drivers + CrapCleaner + install new drivers)... Thanks Eiraku!
Another thing before I install this, if anything were to happen *touchwood*, I can always rollback to the previous driver right? And if the lappie is connected to the net, can I hibernate it? Or will the net connection disconnect if it's in hibernation? Which one is better? Sleep or hibernate? |

QUOTE(eyen @ Jun 15 2007, 09:46 PM) Thanks Eiraku! Yeah, you can always rollback... But just download the drivers from Dell just in case... Another thing before I install this, if anything were to happen *touchwood*, I can always rollback to the previous driver right? And if the lappie is connected to the net, can I hibernate it? Or will the net connection disconnect if it's in hibernation? Which one is better? Sleep or hibernate? For me, shut down... That clears your Page File and keeps your computer running smoothly... As far as I know anyway... But between Hibernation and Sleep, I'd take Hibernation... On another note, I'm back from another excursion from LowYat, and this time, I found myself an absolute gem of a wired mouse... The A4Tech X7 Laptop Gaming Mouse (X-710MF)... I've been playing with it quite a bit, and I'd say that it is well worth the RM78 I spent on it... Before buying it, I had my eyes set on the Logitech MX518... It was perfect for me, but there was only 1 problem, it's too freaking huge... And so, I stumbled up and down LowYat looking for an alternative (and also a way to suddenly cause RM300 to fall down from the sky for a Logitech VX Revolution, my "dreaming" mouse), and then I found myself staring at this small mouse at IT Hypermart. It was on offer, 2 mice for RM99... After careful deliberation (and two trips up and down the two IT floors just to rid myself of MX518 thoughts), I bought the X7... Now I'm really regretting not buying the 2 for RM99 combo... It's well worth it... So, first impressions? PROS: 1. It just looks nice... It's all black, and different colured LEDs indicate the selected resolution (no light = 400DPI, green = 600DPI, orange = 800DPI, red = 1000DPI). 2. Microsoft built quality on a non-Microsoft mouse. Seriously, its well built, and actually feels more solid in my hand in comparison to my Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse 3000. The scroll is an absolute delight to use. Every button clicks solidly. 3. Completely customizable. All the buttons on the mouse, save for the orange 3x button (more on that later), are completely remappable through the software provided. Key macros can also be used. 4. Hardware DPI change. Just press the button, watch the LED light on the scroll change and you're good to go. Even without the software. 5. Comfortable. Seriously, it's one of the best feeling mouse I've ever held in my hands. Rubber non slip coating, a textured thumb area. All buttons within easy reach of my fingers. Ah, heaven... 6. The orange 3x button. The first time I saw this on A4Tech mice, I was thinking "God, what a gimmick". It wasn't such a gimmick later, when I was easily 3-round-bursting enemies in Far Cry. It doubles as a double-click shortcut in windows as well. 7. Vista compatiblity. Out of the box, it was completely usable under Vista. The software is Vista compatible as well, but has to be downloaded from the website. It's not as slick as Razer's, Logitech's or even the Habu's software though, but it's seriously resource friendly (1MB background process for the tray program) to compensate. 8. Teflon feet. I know that this is a pre-requisite to a gaming mouse, but it's nice to have a mouse that glides over any surface anyway. 9. The best scroll wheel. Ever. For me anyway. 10. The only practical gaming mouse I know of (eg. has many buttons) that is not HUGE. Notebook size + many buttons + on-the-fly DPI adjustment = WIN! CONS: 1. The wires are flimsy. I know that A4 Tech's saying that this is a design feature, as they're saying that the light wire promotes the mobility of the mouse. But next to the steel mesh coated wire of my old Microsoft mouse, I do feel that this might present a problem to the longevity of the X7 itself. 2. Optical not laser. The optical engine of the X7 is thus suspect to all the problems of other optical mice (eg. they hate shiny surfaces). 3. 1000DPI max resolution. Other mice are offering up to 2500DPI rite now, and even if I know that 2500DPI isn't that useful practically to me (1000DPI is already beyond my gaming needs), it's good to have choices, right? In my opinion, if you need a small, notebook sized gaming mouse, get the X7, or better, get two. It's on offer for RM99 for a twin combo pack at IT Hypermart, and it's seriously worth it (normal price, RM78x2=RM156)... Or get the VX Revolution. If you're rich.... Full review coming later... Yes u can always go back to previous driver. Sleep or hibernate? I think u mean standby or hibernate. Hibernate is better than standby.
@ hi54ever, it is good that u hibernate. Some ppl just leave it idle for a week without turning it off or hibernate etc. Now that's bad. @ Eiraku, hmm i think i'll try to get some time to make it. Any request? I think urs basically covered everything This post has been edited by derred: Jun 15 2007, 11:49 PM |

Having some troubles updating the drivers from the laptopvideo2go site.
The problem started between step 8 -9. After I double click the .inf file, I'll get this pop up. And after I click ok, I'll get this Have Disk pop up and I'll double click the .inf file again. And after that, I'll get the first pop up (first pic above). And it repeats itself. Wondering what's wrong. This post has been edited by eyen: Jun 16 2007, 01:15 AM |

Added on June 16, 2007, 4:11 am I can't change the colors of the windows, and the options are different. When I click on color and appearance at "Personalized", I get this pop up window people usually get in other versions of Windows instead of the different color options in squares we get in Vista. Can't seems to find the "transparent" option. The NVIDIA control panel (right click on the desktop etc) is gone (which is understandable). And I got a BSOD when I tried to refresh the Vista Experience ratings. URGHH I'M SUCH AN IDIOT.
