Another XPS M1210 user here..

I'm using it as my main computer. No problem so far except the lcd got problem.

Dell sent a technician to my house and replaced the lcd.

Now the battery is dead and the dsl port is damaged because of lightning luckily the mobo is safe.

nex time do buy UPS and lightning arrestor for all the external connections including phone... you could have avoided this damage

guys.... help!! after 2+ years of loyal service my xps fall sick. it wont boot and when i push the power button the numlock light is on and both the caplock and scroll lock light blinks... and after a few seconds it went dead. i tried the Fn+power, also dont work... does this mean that... my baby.. is dead?

please help..

call up dell & try to check how much they charge if to fix this?

ok guys, thanks to Dell call centre, managed to find out that it the lights means that the "memory is not present".. so had to opened the keyboard and the bottom ram panel and reseat both ram modules.

now its back on and running without a glitch.

thank god it was just a small hiccup, thanks for looking and god bless all m1210 users!!

well, our m1210s are now 2 generations behind the current release. Guys, we got a classic on our hands.

Oh fyi, we still got more USB ports than the new XPS. AHAHAHA

damn..big problem...couldnt start up..so i called the call centre and they said my video card might be faulty...ahhh...and im outta warranty too..

last time i inquired about extending warranty they quoted me 1k plus.

need some opinion, if the fix costs above 1.2k, should i forget about it and invest in a new laptop?

u can search in the notebook sell/buy thread,there is a forumer selling rm400/yr for extend warranty service

yeah but its dead, and dell reinspects laptops and certifies they're working before allowing extensions on warranty....

hmmm. well, can you get a 2nd hand one? for less than the price of a fix.

hey guys..just stumbled upon this thread..im a dell xps m1210 user here..haha..excellent laptop..no complains about mine..

its annoying how i take care of it properly for the past 1 1/2 year and all, then suddenly out of the blue it fails on me, withought any prior warning or telltale signs, one fine morning just refused to start.

sell to me la!

won't start wor..u wan buy for what?...only thing i can think of is dismantling and selling as spare parts

if mobo still ok, i want the mobo and heatsink! pls reserve for me.

i buy cheap from you now, later when got money, go and repair lor!
