bcoz samsung mu7000 is premium uhd while sharp and sony just uhd only?
*
u gotta look at prices too.

it's meaningless to ask which is "better" when one is 3.6k and the other 7k.

everyone has own criteria to buy anything.

some look for the best, no budget limit.

some look for the cheapest, very limited budget.

majority look for VALUE - best price given the features, picture quality and durability that's acceptable.

also, u need to be careful about what "other people" say.

it is very unlikely a person has actually used 2 or more specific TV models and give u real and useful comments n experience.

most comments are based on reviews, stats , what they saw within 5 mins in a shop with a mix with all kinds of tech jargon, graphs and nos.

my view, do yr own homework, trust ONLY your own eyes and wallet!

what your point of view of samsung mu7000 compare to sharp 6800x?
*
that samsung tv... I do not comment on things that i have never used.

That sharp, i am using its predecessor, 3 years, very satisfied.

If i were to get a new one tmrw, it will be ua6800x.

I like the picture quality, the androidtv, the price and durability.

Not sure about Sharp 6800x durability because android TV is still relatively new
Picture quality is good but android system isn't 100% yet
There isn't any operating manual so ask the tech guy to do the apps download & how-to-use
Don't be a smartass!
It's all-in-one removed all the clusters on my TV cabinet
My Samsung Plasma TV kaput after 8 yrs but I managed to sell it off for RM200
I wonder how much 6800x will fetch in 8 yrs?
*
Well, my experience with 3 x sharp lcdtv... all longer than 8 years.

Current ue630x, 3 years.

Yes, there is no manual on androidtv... same when u buy android phone, android tablet or androidbox.

And its true... if u r new to android, it can be frustrating.

But if u know enough, it is as good as any android.

I use my androidtv not for netflix or youtube.

But for astrogo and other apps for intl live tv channels.

noted thanks a lot by the way both sharpua6800x and samsung mu7000 is android tv?
*
major brands, only sony and sharp use google's androidtv, and not every model.

the rest all use their own platform.

like i said, i never used samsung, cannot comment much.

better u go to samsung thread and ask there.

all your sharp > 8 yrs without claiming any warranty? if yes, then may be you are lucky. my second sharp, 835 series, mother board die at 3rd year. anyway, still going for sharp now.. just bought one ua6800x.
*
no warranty in my cases... they are still working.

statistically, it will never be 100%... there will be some that will fail in 1 or 2 or 10 years.

the thing is when u read "expert" reviews, it's always about specs, numbers, graphs, charts...

nothing about how long the tv will last or how long the picture quality stays good. biggrin.gif

this, i suppose will have to rely on individual's past experience.

I just pull the trigger and bought the 6800-60 inches at the home expo @sunway. To my limited knowledge this is one of the better deal for this few weeks.
*
what deal did u get there?

price, warranty, gifts...?

AV show July 20-22... maybe good deals there too..?

Lol I been holding on since Feb and always miss the deal. KL AV show is too far from me both in date and venue.

I pay 3500 for the TV and get the bag + 5 years warranty. Already a better deal than ESS and HN quoted me.
*
Thanks for info.

Pretty good.

Will see what's at klav.

Hi AV,

No ill intention but now that I am on the other side I am hoping the price slide will stop! Lol! Last week I was still praying for it to drop but now is the reverse!

While walking out of the exhibition hall, my wife notice the LG OLED and she asked “ why are we not getting that one? The picture looks better and I like the stand”

.................
*
There is issue of price.

Your wifey somehow knows u can spend double for same size Tv?! biggrin.gif

I got iptv and also the option of setting up Astro on the go. Which will give better experience?
*
Tried a few apps... the best one is acestream media app + reddit soccerstreams. Many using it:
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4600175/+260
This app works but is clumsy to use on androidtv.

The other apps are either not 1080p or less reliable.
Astrogo is not even 720p for these live matches.

The internal player of my ue630x tv is not as good as my box... i use the box.
The tv is capable of delivering great pictures... if the source is good.

Was interested to know if u find yr new tv player is good enough and using which androidtv app.

6800x is Android TV. Imagine the possibilities with Android OS.

I've tried and tested this TV with some Dolby videos (different file container, encoded with different audio codec). Built-in player basically sucked. So, download VLC, and voila. Everything plays! Though I've yet to try if the output audio is fully Dolby Digital stream to a receiver/soundbar.

And again, the spec only listed Dolby Digital.
*
internal player suck as always.

on older ue630x, VLC or mx won't deliver DD5.1, only 2.0.

better get separate player if into high grade audio/AVR.

I've been wondering about this too. Though it plays the videos fine, with sound output via the speakers. But would the correct stream be sent through HDMI ARC or not.

Still no owner here came back with a test result.
*
i think the player/arc/audio functions of ua6800x is the same as the ue630x, not so good.

on ue630x, i have not used hdmi arc but the digital toslink arc.

the results, i already mentioned.

to get the best out of this tv, better get a good player box - the tv can produce great video with good player and source.

VLC have option for audio pass thru. I assume your soundbar or home theater system would decode the DTS or THX sound right?
*
i actually hardly use the tv player.

but have done enough tests with native player, mx, vlc... with toslink arc to AVR... unimpressed.

i do some heavy playback, files up to 90gb, 4k hdr, hd audio, etc.

so, i use my own box player-AVR more than anything else.

i can also say while the androidtv is very useful, the video quality it produces is marginally inferior compared to the same app used in my box, e.g. astrogo.

not much of an issue for me since a TV should do what it is primarily designed to do - video display - and it does it very well.

the rest... usb playback, audio/speakers.. not so impt.

the androidtv, however, is a bonus... becos it is very handy.

Optical cable can't support DD+ though.

I guess I'm now siding more toward Sony. No headache about Dolby audio support.
*
True about optical.

Hdmi arc... dd+... better be sure, test before u buy.

Becos tv makers are not generous when it comes to paying for licenses, usually limited to dd, dts only.

Hi to all sifu here, may I know how to install astro go on this sharp 6800 ? Can't find it on Google play store
*
u need to sideload... and do a few more things.

below is something i wrote in another thread.

follow the procedure 1-2-3, it should wokr on yr tv.

current astrogo version is 8.2.1.

QUOTE
androidtv os is found in a minority of devices - nvidia shield, mibox int'l, sony 4ktv and sharp 4ktv.
i think there is little discussion on the android for sony 4ktv, but quite a bit for mibox and sharp 4ktv.
they should work the same, face similar issues.

i am using a sharp 4ktv android os, have seen some of these issues, perhaps i can help a bit.

lately, there hv been 2 issues faced by users.

1. possibly due to updated firmware/security patch, some apps couldn't be installed.
the "install" button is washed out, cannot be clicked on for some apps.
however, there is a workaround - use of x-plore app from playstore and using a simple trick, on/off of remote, to resume installation.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuEYd1fpstU&feature=youtu.be

2. some apps after installation keep crashing, incl astrogo.
still, mibox users are able to use this 8.1.93 but need mouse; remote will cause crash.
https://m.apkpure.com/astro-go/com.astro.astro
read last few pages for details:
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3561305/+2360#bottom

3. U also need to install and set to default the indic keyboard as the leanback keyboard is incompatible; need also to install a rotation lock app to get landscape rather than portrait.
