based on this, i think u can pretty much use androidtv for most of it.

netflix and youtube are native standalone apps - they work very well.

the rest, sideload shud work.

only popcorntime may be dodgy - androidtv may not allow it to be installed if it detects security risk.

also, popcorntime is using p2p, may accidentally use up too much of the tv storage.

asian dramas - rss androidtv and adrama work very well, u can try them.
*
Yeah, popcorn time might have problem due to the bit torrenting and storage usage. If that fails, i will have to download first from my other PCs.

Btw, how long to boot up the TV usually in seconds? My HTPC with SSD boot up very fast....faster than the internet connections to get ready!

i do not recommend using popcorntime and the like on the tv.

tv boot up is quite fast, not an issue.

I did.. Also notice I mentioned real world usage and OUTSIDE China.. Walk into any coffee shop in any decent city worldwide and you'd be hard pressed to find those brands as opposed to the more popular global brands..
Panels doesn't make the whole TV.. Apple uses Samsung displays.. does that make it a Samsung phone? Nope.. Hope you understand.
ARC unless limited by your AV equipment is capable of up to 5.1 DTS-HD MA... I personally confirm this... Yes, if any connected device requires more than your AVR is capable of outputting.. You are better off connecting directly to the TV itself.. i mentioned this to you earlier.
That's the beauty of getting devices with a specific function and built for such... To get the same unique performance from an HTPC, that some RM3xx or less android boxes can easily do..? One must spend at least RM1k or much more speccing a decent HTPC.. IMO.. waste of money. Buy a powerful Android OS powered media player and be done with it. yes, up to 7.1 ATMOS and DTS:X

Lastly, HDR is just additional data that lets you see more of what was already recorded. it's not like high bitrates or res.. Besides, Netflix's 4K and HDR isn't true 4K either. it's heavily compressed for easy streaming and playback over the internet.
*
If you judge based on coffee shop statistics I cant say anything more biggrin.gif
I suggest you to google for the number facts instead of observing in coffee shops.

I did not claim panel=tv, but this is a strong indication for future.

Unfortunately for me, seller called me saying the LC60 is out of stock and have to wait until end of April. doh.gif
So I had to cancel the order.

I went and bought a Sony KD55X7000F instead. Heard the android version is laggy so avoided X7500F. tongue.gif

Ok...last night was busy and tiring night....setting the TV and rearranging my TV rack...have to remove some stuff from the TV rack top in order not to block the TV , including the centre speaker (which is way to big)...

Anyway, here's my mini review:
Setup
1. Setup was pretty easy, it ask me to connect to my Android phone using the Google Home app. But i ran into a problem, the TV doesn't detect my Wifi 5Ghz while my phone is on the 5Ghz Wifi, so it can't connect. I discovered that it only accepts pure AC (previously broadcasting as mix Ac/N )...my Nintendo Switch also have this problem. So either you change to use the Wifi 2.4Ghz for your phone or reconfigure the router to broadcast 5Ghz as AC only. I chose the latter.

2. Next, it copies settings from my chosen Google account automatically.

3. It starts to detect and sets up the TV channels. Finally, i gets to watch Digital TV! biggrin.gif

4. For Android apps, it has actually installed some Android TV compatible apps automatically based on my Google account, including the KeepSolid VPN app which i use.

5. Suprise: It automatically detects my Yamaha RX-V475 via HDMI 2(ARC) and turns it on for me and setup as external speakers automatically!

UI
1. Fantastic! Smooth, no lag and very user friendly. It has excellent integration with the TV functions. I can control the volume of my AVR using the TV remote (basically, the AVR is like transparent to the TV). This is way better than my old Android box and i think it is even more user friendly than my HTPC which wasnt build for TV interface anyway.

2. Sideloaded a couple of apps i use including MYPADTV and Chrome, all works perfectly.

PS4
Connected to HDMI 1 (which supports HDR), the PS4 automatically detect the HDR (previously, HDR is shown as "OFF", now it is "AUTOMATIC"). I am not really sure if picture quality improve or what, since can't do side by side comparison. But it works. Just tested Spiderman a bit.

NETFLIX
Works fine. Some of the shows now shows up as HDR, Ultra 4K, Ultra 4K HDR etc. Previously only showing up as "HD" for all shows on my Windows 10 HTPC using old TV.

YOUTUBE
Works fine. Tested some 4K and HDRs demos. 4K videos seems to work fine. Tested some 8K/8K with HDR movies - this will shows some lags/stutter frequently. But considering that even my HTPC doesn't really play 8k smoothly (if i remember correctly), i think it is a wonder this Android TV can even play 8K movie at all!

Logitech K400 Plus
The best feature of this TV! Fully compatible with my K400+! I use the rear USB port for the receiver, expecting signal lag or delay since no direct line of sight, but suprisingly works fine. All the critical functions like double finger swipe for scrolling on the pad works. And it has Home, back, exit button etc on the function keys which works like just the remote. Basically, you can actually use the TV without the remote at all with this! It is also smooth and fast almost like my Windows HTPC. Very impressive! The only snag is the mouse select button sometimes might not work on certain item you click, but this can be rectify by pressing the "Enter" button, which acts like the Remote "OK" button. I throughly recommend you get this keyboard for your TV!

Picture Quality
Well, i was too tired to notice picture quality honestly, but it looks great for those 4K videos and it looks better than my old TV, so i am ok with it. Not too picky.
But i noticed something a bit weird, it seems smoother than my old TV...i know this TV has no motion processing feature, but somehow, it still looks smoother....not sure why.

Summary:
Very happy with this purchase! Excellent UI, runs all my APPS, compatible with my K400+, and can replace my HTPC (which will be use to replace my son's broken PC and will save me RM 600 bucks(mobo+cpu+RAM) or so at least).

Current Problems:
I have only 1 main problem is actually not with the TV, but my RX-V475 AVR. There is a delay in sound, can see the lip not sync and lag behind a bit. When using TV internal speaker, no such issues. I guess i must spend some time to configure my AVR to compensate the delay, if there is such functions.

Questions to all sifus:
1. When start up, the screen shows blank, seems like no response. It seems to show the home screen a few seconds later only after i have pressed the "Home" button? Is this normal? Or i have to just wait for home screen to appear?

2. For the DTV, why is it keeps showing me one Radio channel by default? Can i change this?

3. How to hide the cursor? Currently i can only move it to the side, but it still shows the tip a bit. I think it's caused by my K400 plus. Do you guys sees a cursor?

the tv does 5ghz when it is strong enuf; else, it falls back to 2.4ghz.

the tv youtube does not do 8k. it can play 8k but when u check stats for nerds, u see the actual resolution and frames dropped.

the audio out of sync is probably due to hdmi arc-cec; no issue if u connect device->avr->tv.

yes, blank screen at start is normal if there is no other device connected to it and active. need to press home to UI.

DTV... u need to connect to a digital antenna, scan to get whatever is available in yr area.

cursor... no, it goes away after a couple of seconds.

1. i think the The 5Ghz is not about strong. My router is sitting right next to it. Once i change it to dedicated AC (instead of mixed ac/n) and also lower channel to 40, it works (much like my Nintendo Switch).
2. Is there anyway to solve the hdmi arc-cec issue? Because it is the TV playing the video...i have googled and seems like a lot of people have similar issues on various TVs and AVRs.
3. I have no issues scanning the DTV, in fact the first thing the setup did was scan all the digital and analog channels automatically. I am using a centralized dish in my Condo, so no need any external antenna. First thing that greets me last night on my new TV was Tun M talking on RMT1 or RTM2. tongue.gif What i meant about the DTV is, is there a way to preset channels, say TV3, TV8 on the Android TV homescreen? Currently, it always default to some FM channels. Can i add preset channels and fill it horizontally?

Thks.

I use the EPG button to show and select available channels. Cannot get channels to appear on the android home screen. The tv will go back to the last watched channel after you turn it on again.

Nope.. I did not judge based on coffee shop statistics..And if you think I did so, instead of it being readily aparent that it was merely an easy to digest point of reference.. then I can't say anything more.. smile.gif

No you did not claim panel = TV, but that should have told you that I have some insights into the AV industry and been keeping tabs.. I'm still waiting on your alleged proof of small players overtaking the big dogs. Remember, we are talking TVs or AV equipment here yeah.. and not GDP or economic freedom or happiness scale, etc.. Until then, ciao.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Tested with the original HDMI cable that came with PS4 (which can do HDR directly to the TV), still the same with the delay.

With the current HDMI ARC settings, i can only passback PCM sound (not even bitstream DD, doesn't works, the AVR don't recognize).

So no choice, have to dig out my optical cable from the storeroom.
1. NETFLIX - solved synced problem by passing Bitstream and get Dolby Digital (no DD Plus).
2. Other apps like MyPadTV - i think it is almost same as internal speaker, way better than before (which was like a foreign language dub). But i still have a slight feeling it is like maybe a small delay persist.

So in general it solves my problem. I only need DD from Netflix, rest apps and DTV only have stereo at best.

Another thing i noticed when using internal speaker, by default surround sound is on....i feels very disconnected as the sound seems to comes from around the TV....bottom, left, right...but not from the characters in the TV..also when using surround, again i notice maybe there is like 10-20ms additional delay to the audio. I don't know, maybe i am sensitive. After turning off the surround, it is much better and i can feel the characters talking and the slight delay before is gone.

I see. Means i cannot get those channel in the horizontal bar...it seems random channel keeps popping up. No idea how it determines which channel to pop up.

Btw, is there a way to renumber the channels? Now my DTVs are all 10X range. I want the first 10 digits for the channels for easy selection. Way faster to press "1" instead of 101!

Do you guys install Internet security/Antivirus app on the TV? Because i have additional Bitdefender license...so maybe not to waste it. LOL.

As for HDR gaming, i think i cannot tell the difference...watched some Youtube videos comparing PS4 games in HDR and non-HDR mode. It seems to me, non-HDR actually looks better. :x

Last night tested God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn a bit in HDR. GOW seems ok, maybe a bit better, HZD (which i haven't play for very long), seems pretty dark (but game scene is at night)...i don't remember how it looks previously anyway.

the tv is rated DD only.... whatever tv app or audio input to tv, the highest is DD.

i use tv optical output for TV apps and unifi tv (hyppbox)... so far, all ok, no delay or sync issues.

delay due to surround effect? or maybe u r using 2 sources - soundbar and tv speakers?!

Nope. I turned off my AVR when doing the TV surround testing. In fact, no i permanently turn off the HDMI-CEC, will only need to turn it on if want better sound when watching Netflix.

one thing to do whenever u find tv video or audio laggy, even mouse gets laggy....

go settings/about/restart.

this is clean up cache and other unwanted garbage in the android.

doesn't need to do this often... only when necessary.
