Hi sifu-sifus sekalian, planning a 14 days trip to Japan on Nov. these are the draft itinerary, need more research.

Day 1 - 31st Oct, Wednesday
345pm reach Kansai Airport
Free & Easy & check in hotel

Day 2 - 1st Nov, Thursday
- USJ whole day
(Choose weekdays, not so pack on weekend)

Day 3 - 2nd Nov, Friday
- Nara day trip

Day 4 - 3rd Nov, Saturday
- Kobe day trip

Day 5 - 4th Nov, Sunday
- osaka amazing pass

Day 6 - 5th Nov, Monday
- Kyoto

Day 7 - 6th Nov, Tuesday
- Kyoto

Day 8, 7th Nov, Wednesday
Kyoto - Tokyo 6 hours.

Day 9 - Day 14
Tokyo - not sure of the itinerary yet.
Will include Disneyland, Akihabara, Owl Cafe for now hmm.gif

Since I’ll be travelling a lot, I’ll get the 14 days JR Pass. Should I get Tokyo subway ticket? Understand that JR Pass cover most of the area hmm.gif need to do more research for the line coverage
*
1. You don't really need 14 day JR Pass and it will be a waste of money. Also, is your return flight from Tokyo or Osaka?

2. Are you planning to visit Japan again next time? If yes, consider splitting Osaka/Kyoto and Tokyo separately. From Kyoto, you can actually travel onwards to Kanawaza, Shirakawago, Takayama, and Nagoya before returning back to Osaka for return flight.

3. If not, you can still cover both but you might need to drop certain activities in order not to feel rush going from one place to another place. Tokyo can easily take up to 6-7 days alone including side-trips to Mount Fuji

1) thinking Kansai Thru Pass but afraid a lot places are not accessible? USJ, bamboo forest, deer park, dontobori etc? Return flight is tokyo tho

2&3 I have bought tokyo for return
*
1) If you fly in Osaka and fly out from Tokyo, you actually not need 7-day JR Pass because you only travel one way via Shinkansen. For Osaka/Kyoto-Tokyo, you need to at least have a return Shinkansen trip to make your JR pass worthwihile

2) JR Pass mostly covers Shinkansen and JR railways. It doesn't cover private railways, subways or metrolines.

3) Plan your route first before deciding to get any special pass and see whether is there any savings. For travel around the Kansai area, I find that you generally don't need to buy special passes because the saving is not much, if any.

Looks fine to me. You can actually make reservation for the bus trip (Shinjuku-Kawaguchiko) earlier online if you wish (not need CC or pay first).

For the Hakone-Shinjuku train part, you can pay slightly extra to take the faster Odakyu Romancecar

EDIT
You might want to check how are you going to Odawara? Don’t think the pass cover it

what i am worrying now on the bus schedule on Fuji & Hakone, seems take quite some time to travel around
*
Last time I think I left my onsen in Gora around 10am and reach Kawaguchiko bus station by 5pm, including 2 hrs spent at Gotemba Premium Outlet

If you are a Initial D fan, you'll find the first half journey quite familiar biggrin.gif . It's basically the mountain road for the 2nd last team battle (Team Spiral) and the Ryusuke-Rin Hyojo deathmatch dogfight

For those visited lake kawaguchi and shibazakura festival

1. Any idea if can purchase one way ticket for the shibazakura festival bus liner?

2. any other bus that stop at the festival?
It's seems the blue line bus only reach the last lake and from there to the festival need walk 3km.
*
Why u want one-way ticket? It's actually a bit remote in, so I don't think there's other public buses beside the buses run by the Festival organiser

Hey guys!

I'm heading to Tokyo on Monday. My return flight is about 10AM. The Airbnb I'm staying is at Shinjuku. I'm planning to take the train to Tokyo Station then board Access Narita bus to Narita Airport. Based on your experience, what time is best to leave the Airbnb to the train station? How long does it take from Tokyo Station to Narita airport using Access Narita bus?
*
Japan transportation is very punctual. Train timing is on the dot while highway bus typically arrive slightly early than scheduled. You can plan according to the schedule that they have

am living somewhere nearby Kanazawa. although its purchasable from Kanazawa station, but too bad, it seems that the ticket can only be purchased by tourist laugh.gif

haven't been on the alpine route, look nice from the photos!
*
Just when i’m ok to purchase full fare, the JR ppl decided to throw a curveball again.

Now they are doing advanced sales ticket from 2-6pm a day before for 15-16 April. Now I’m worried that it could get sold out (or very late departure time) for same-day sales at 5am

If I buy Fuji-Hakone Pass + RomanceCar, I can take RomanceCar from Shinjuku to Hakone then take any transportation available travel between Hakone and Fuji; when come back to Shinjuku from Fuji I have to take Chuo Highway Bus, is my understanding correct? Is it always recommended to book RomanceCar beforehand? My flight will touch down at Haneda at 630AM. How much buffer time should I put to decide what time I should board RomanceCar? I'm thinking to keep my luggage at Shinjuku Station luggage storage probably so that I don't need to carry around during my trip to Fuji & Hakone. Please advise.
*
Yes. You are correct. When you buy the pass, i think they will ask how are you going to take the route i.e. highway bus first to Kawaguchiko or train first to Hakone.

Unless u are travelling on Golden Week, I don’t think Romancecar will be fully booked. You can purchase it on the spot

Thanks for confirming. I'm going on Oct 24 it's Wednesday, I guess should be less crowd right? Do you think it's worth to stay one night near Fuji then another night Hakone OR both night at Hakone?
*
Definitely one night in Fuji. You don't want to miss Mount Fuji during sunrise. It's also your best chance since there will be less fog in early morning

Hi all , first time post in this thread . will be going to tokyo mid of November . going to do some research as early as I can .
But one thing I found about the transportation cost , JR Pass cheapest cost around MYR1K/pax for 7 days ? Seriously that expensive ?
Any alternative cheaper way ?

Or can I just stay at Tokyo for 10days ? First time to Japan thus got no idea at all . did read about this thread but seem no better option for transportation .

sorry for my bad english
*
I wonder how many first timers get con buying JR Pass and under-utilised it biggrin.gif

JR Pass is only worth if you travel Shinkansen a lot. Which means, most of the time, you just make yourself/itinerary inconvenient by trying to maximise the JR Pass value.

Omurice is nice to take video or photo but actually quite pricey haha

Just touch down at Narita and it’s 12 degree

yeah. we booked the ticket first. May have been greedy at first. now after reading, realize wont be able to cover all the places in both area. So might be targeting a few places we want to visit.

and this happens to be one of the places my wife and I wanna go. Is it really moving already? Or has it been delayed?  cry.gif  cry.gif

Think they are moving the market where fresh fish are sold and tuna auction are conducted (i.e the inner part)

All the restaurants in outer part should remain

Hi Thanks. I don't plan to rush through my trip. Just wondering how long does it take to cover these places based on the daily itinerary. The day with the shortest or can be completed half day I choose that day as the day I travel from Tokyo to Kyoto (via shinkaisen)

Kyoto Day 1
-Fushimi Inari
-Nishiki Market
-Daimaru Kyoto Store
-Nijo Castle & Kyoto Imperial Palace (Optional if got time)

Kyoto Day 2
-Arashimaya District (Tenryuji Temple, Bamboo Groove, Nonomiya Shrine)
-Kinkakuji Temple (Optional if got time - closes at 5pm)

Kyoto Day 3
-Hanamikoji Dori
-Gion Area (Shirakawa Canal, Gion Tatsumi Bridge, Gion Shinbashi District, Yasaka Shirne, Maruyama Park, Ishibe Valley)
-Kiyomizu-Dera

Thanks.

The itinerary is good and not really packed. You’ll have enough time to enjoy those places

These Japanese really take their theme park seriously lol.

Park open at 9am, straight go in then just camp at strategic place for 3.00pm parade
