going to join back CIMB CC; been looking at the new Petronas VI-i and Petronas Plat-i

some curious questions on how the cb works

1) CB is based on statement month or calendar month? --- from T&C, it's by statement month

2) when does CB credited? -- from T&C, it will be credited "in the next month’s statement". is there a fixed posting date or roughly when?

caveat: "Cash Rebate(s) earned by the Cardholder(s) for each current month will not be posted to the Cardholder(s)’ Co-Brand Card account in the next month’s statement if the Cardholder(s) fails to make the minimum payment due by the Due Date stated in the current month’s statement."
rclxub.gif

Seems like cb is delayed 1 statement month hmm.gif

3) cashback tier based on the clause "*Statement Balance includes any outstanding balances which are carried forward from the previous month’s statement and new transactions made on the current month’s statement. Any payments made before the current month’s statement date will be taken into account in calculating the current month’s Statement Balance."

If i understand this correctly, the mechanism is similar to Affin Duo's?

thanks

Hi just checking if the ewallet transactions spending will still be counting into monthly spend for Petronas Visa Infinite card after August 8?
*
technically not monthly spend

more of statement balance amount...

// *Statement Balance includes any outstanding balances which are carried forward from the previous month’s statement and new
transactions made on the current month’s statement. Any payments made before the current month’s statement date will be
taken into account in calculating the current month’s Statement Balance. //

so, the 8 Aug t&c only indicate ewallet exclude from rewards/cb earning.

also, nobody can validate now because we haven't cross 8/8 yet.

fyi, statement-ed @ 19 Aug (first statement)

1) statement balance >RM4k, all spending, no ewallets/bt/etc
2) no cashback recorded sweat.gif
3) will continue to monitor how/when cimb credit the cb thumbsup.gif

p/s: I've also changed my statement date to 5th earlier. wonder if the system recorded it to credit cb on the 5th instead ohmy.gif

There are reports on missing bonus points on TWE for those who opted to change statement date (I am not aware which direction of the statement date change though). I believe for that situation, a call is needed and manual adjustment involved...

The same could have happened to your card (albeit it is cashback) even though it's a different card. Same system after all.
*
receive cb, T+1 after statement date

delayed cb doesnt affect your statement balance amount, compared to Affin Duo's.

didnt touch ewallets with the card

i guess should be counted towards statement balance amount; just no rewards granted for ewallets (mcc 6540)

I'm a little confused, this TnC dated on 8/8 says MCC6540 (eWallet) and Setel will be eligible for cashback... there's an exclusion in the TnC?

https://www.cimb.com.my/content/dam/cimb/pe...e-i-tnc-eng.pdf
*
should be typo at the top section for Setel @ MCC 6540

exclusion clause below already excluded all ewallets with MCC 6540

...unless there is special provision for Petronas cards laugh.gif

"including but not limited to monthly" magic word?
*
adoi, 2 criteria mah

1) statement balance -- doesnt seem to have any exclusions, just lumpsum statement balance amount to qualify the cb tier

2) cashback -- exclusions applies

I did online, submit on Saturday. Monday they called me, Friday received my card 🤣. The fastest process so far, and I’m new to bank.

yeah, surprisingly fast for me too (considered ntb)

Friday evening (end July) submitted doc.

few mins later staff called to verify application! quite lengthy process to listen and confirm each of his readout laugh.gif probably staff chasing monthly quota?

later, they email again to submit some other supporting docs (?). their upload system really messed up.

next Monday, approval SMS received.

Thursday received card via citylink maildrop.

Maybank still the fastest for me biggrin.gif

No more cashback category found in the redemption page. I guess the best alternative for cashback is 52000 points for RM100 TnG pin, no?

they did earlier than planned.

i just got my statement and did the calculation and im short of 300 points based on the number of transaction on the statement and it comes out to 150rm spent not counted. the only thing that made sense is after aug 1st i had topped up grab wallet using the card for around 150 as well. other transactions are all offline retail stores so it shouldnt cause any issue
