1) recent updates are announcements of upcoming changes on Aug 2023.

2) currently we are in July, all the announcement has not take effect yet. so, if CIMB immediately change the current content, it will also confuse existing cardholders/spending too.


once effective date has reached...

1) usually website will be updated/reflected with new info

2) on some situation, website update is slow (probably pending approval to publish). at this moment, announcement details will supersede the main content. yes, there will be confusion at this point.

3) on special situation, system implementation is delayed too you still get old rate. that'd be temporary bonus to cardholders.

4) on rare occasion, the whole thing postponed indefinitely probably to manage backlash, complaints from higher-ups, regulatory concern, etc. of course this is rare as planned changes should've gotten signoff with ALL relevant parties before announcing to the public


to some degree, yes, cimb could've done better by putting notices in all affected pages (each card page, rewards page, etc) instead of hiding it under Announcement page only.

if putting notices to many pages is "tedious", putting a big announcement banner in each section should be fine too.


in short, just follow the announcement. plan your upcoming spending accordingly.
