My debit card also kena suddenly receive SMS say subscribe something
I don even use my debit card to purchase anything
I just call bank, and cs told me go to bank get replace new card
And when replace, i ask staff to disable for online purchase
*
deja vu

this seems like last year's (cimb?) fiasco whereby a lot of debit cards got charged en masse too.

CIMB customers seek clarification on 'direct debit' transactions

Ok, hopefully it doesn't happen often. I have to update a bunch of accounts with my new credit card.
*
no worries la

just diligently monitor your cc accounts via online banking portal/app. try not to rely on statement as it would be too late and dispute escalation (chargeback) would be longer too.

After calling the bank customer service to file a dispute, requesting a new credit card with new card numbers needs to be performed as well, right?
*
generally, better to request replacement card, FOC

some banks replace without asking. some need your explicit request to initiate replacement.

as usual, always ask the bank.

Hi friends, this is a screenshot of my current credit card account status. The "outstanding balance" is irritating, yet the "statement balance" is confusing. I am tempted to just do nothing, hoping that when 17 August is reached, my outstanding balance will be auto deducted from the amount in my statement balance. Can somebody kindly enlighten me if it is safe for me to do so? is there any implications for me to do so?
*
not difficult

statement balance = balance as of statement date (cutoff) only. your amount is -ve, means you overpaid. nothing to do.

outstanding balance = current/latest outstanding. it's showing +ve amount, meaning you've already spent after statement date, and that amount is lastest outstanding you owe. statement not yet out, so there is nothing to do either.

are you sure your statement date = 17th of each month?

thanks so much for helping me to understand.  thumbup.gif
my statement date is on 30th each month.
When you bring out the concept of statement date, I think I am confused with payment due date. I wrote 17 Aug because it is shown that 17 August is the payment due date.

let me try to write down what I understand so far:
- RM 11.90 is the amount I overpaid as of 30 July when the statement came out
- RM 7.51 is the amount I have newly spent and haven't paid start counting from 31 July
- If I haven't been overpaying, I am supposed to pay RM 7.51 before 17 Aug to avoid getting charged for interest
- but now since I have overpaid RM 11.90 and this figure is bigger than RM 7.51, so I can actually do nothing and wait until they counter themself automatically on 17 Aug

Am I correct, or there are still wrong concepts I am holding?
*
blue highlight -- incorrect. 17 Aug = payment due date is for your July statement balance. RM7.51 has not been billed yet (30 Aug statement)

you now paid RM11.90 before Aug statement. 11.90-7.51=4.39 overpayment. assuming no more transactions, your upcoming 30 Aug statement will be -4.39 (excess payment). then, nothing to manage anymore since Aug statement balance has been overpaid.

If the statement date hasn't yet shown in cimb clicks and the payment due date is tomorrow, is it correct to assume that there is nothing to be paid by tomorrow and I will need to start paying only after I got the statement?
*
you didnt get your statement on 20 Aug? ------> whereby payment due date 9 Sep?

Yes. I just recently activate the card around 28 August. So statement date is 20 days before the due date?
*
yes, due date is 20 days after statement date (assuming you've earned it on monthly basis).

not sure when CIMB generate its 1st statement. but since you already know your due date = 9 Sep, your statement should be roughly on 20 Aug.

usually, statement date is assigned upon approval (created in the system), not based on activation (because it can be much later due to delivery and/or user behavior to activate).

better contact CS to find out since you havent gotten your first/Aug statement

1) statement date
2) statement balance (since due is 9 Sep)
