Effective 5 February 2021, the Bank will discontinue SMS alerts for purchase transactions at credit card terminals with Chip and PIN verification made on your CIMB Credit Cards (PIN & PAY). There will be no changes to all other CIMB Credit Card transactions with SMS alerts.

your card number is just a 16-digit number, easy to generate random numbers, and trial-and-error to attempt charge a number

if a number is valid, it get charged
if invalid number, continue next number

as long as bank proactively block suspicious transactions and cardholder diligently check their cards and report any suspicious transactions, then it should be fine.
