i noticed that the CX-30 is less prone to paint/rock chips, probably of its higher bonnet height. didn't see a single chip throughout my entire 6 months ownership but 1 month into my Mazda3, already kena the FWS and also one tiny one on the front bonnet.
*
Still lots of complaints about thin paint from CX30 owners... but most of them are from other reasons like bump from other car doors, which I guess M3 also suffers the same looking at above

thin paint is pretty much synonymous with Mazda already and the Soul Red Crystal suffers the worst but i guess if you want that glossy bright color on metal, these are the sacrifices you have to make.

both the CX30/Mazda3 shares the same paint technology so they also share the same problem. it will be more apparent on the Mazda3 because:-

(1) it's lower in height so chances of stone hitting the bonnet instead of the front grill is higher; and
(2) events of tailgating is also more biggrin.gif

Another cons is...

When other car owners open their door, and they bang to your door, the dent can be seen very easily.

PPF'ing the entire car in this category is not worth it - if at all, you PPF all the entire piano black interior (SKIP THE METER CLUSTER!) the front bumper, your side mirror covers and the door handle bowls (high traffic area), the rest of the parts, you #livewithit.

the first chip is always the hardest, it gets easier over time. 5/6 years down the road when you put your down payment for your new car and realize your trading in price is crap, you'll be glad that you didn't spent close to RM10k PPF'ing the car.
*
why skip the meter clusters? it is also easily scratched.

i think what he meant was since the meter cluster is easily scratched.... best to skip it since during the process it might be scratched

but tbh applying a TPU film onto my cluster (DIY) actually covered all the scratches

yeap, ZeneticX is correct.

also, most "detailers" used soap water or some other lubricants during application and the area around the meter cluster isn't sealed therefore there is a high risk of water seepage that may cause issues / problem in the long run so best proceed with caution.

I also used soap water during the DIY process of applying the TPU film... quite an amount in fact and can see them flowing down the edge. Touch wood nothing bad happen since

if in doubt, don't drive your car so soon after applying, let it bake under the sun for some time to dry up the excess moisture

for those who are curious - the latest firmware now allows 3rd party maps' directions (Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps) to appear on the HUD. it no longer confines itself to only using Mazda's own maps (through their SD card).

One thing still missing though and that is the speed recognition feature.

this should be available on all the IPM models (eg: after October 2023) but better to check with the SA for confirmation.

did they tell you what other items are included in the RM740.00 - i assume there are parts to be replaced as well but get an itemized quotation from them.

some people in the Mazda3 group recommends Vcarbon Auto Repair Services, apparently they also do walnut blasting decarbonizer.
care to share a picture for us to determine how bad are the scratches?

if it's not too bad, you can pick up a touch up pen from Mikstore, it's not perfect but it's the closest paint color match that i can currently find on the market (mine's Polymetal Gray).

unless the scratch is very obvious and that you cannot ignore, i'd advise you to forget about it because if you have the entire door panel resprayed then high chances are you are going to see a bigger difference in color (with the resprayed panel looked darker) but if you NEED to do it then apparently a few recommends HONG Y AUTO PAINT.

Thanks for the recommendation. Yes, as much as I can, I do not want to respray the panel.

Luckily managed to buff off the scratches with some meguiars compound. As for the dent, sent my car to Dent Pro, Johnny managed to resolve with PDR.

it all depends on your budget, even the most affordable one (70mai) can serve its purposes but if you want more than the bare minimum, look for the one with capacitor instead of lithium.

this board can help you better ---> https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4763761/+5500

SC will charge you almost double than the amount you can get if you buy online and have a shop install it for you.

Yes, its possible. So far, only 2 people in this thread that managed to change it (me included)
