Anybody realize that the paint for mazda is quite thin? Just polishing my car myself and found that there are a lot of paint chip on my front bonnet and bumper. Never had this issue with my other cars.
All similar mass market peers are the same out of factory, so got to live with it.
Due to the trend of switching to water based paint compared to the older solvent based paint for environmental purposes. Secondly it is due to your driving environment, that one can't help it as even my close relatives recent mercedes also has some chipping (despite being coated before).
The main issue is the clear coat layer not as thick as we hoped, but don't compare to european marques, as the premium you pay on those car price covers higher quality paint job.
But didn't expect it to be this thin. Guess that after 3/4 years need to repaint it again. Coated unable to really reduce the chip mark. That is why for m3 I never opted for ceramic coating unlike my others car. I thought that my 308 and HRV lacquer paint already thin enough but looks like m3 is the thinnest.

No coat of paint can protect against chip marks from flying stones. How many chip marks you get really depends on your luck. I don't think the M3 paint is different from other cars in this price range.

If you're that concerned, apply film/wrap, cost similar to coating, but protection level better.
Anyway, with more cars and lorries and developments around, instances of stone chipping is going to be more than what you experienced years before. I'm so used to it that i don't bother about it anymore other than a monthly car wash. I also can't be so bothered about water marks and bird droppings developed down the road.
A repainter workshop that my family frequently visit is kind enough to offer us RM300 for a complete recompound and polishing with full car stone chip pathcing. So i go there once every 2 years for this service.

Yes, it was easily to get the chip mark but it was not too bad after all. photo taken on 12/11/2017 of my old Mazda3, year 2008.
Happy Chinese New Year to all Chinese Mazda 3 owners!
If you stay in the Klang Valley festivals are the time when we enjoy driving our Mazda 3 on uncongested roads. This CNY I taught a tailgater a lesson which I hope won't be easily forgotten.
I was driving on the fast lane of the Federal Highway at slightly over 110 km/h just following the traffic stream. A Myvi came up behind me tailgating very close. I ignored it. There were cars in front of me moving at the same speed so I couldn't go faster anyway. Why should I change lane back and forth just to let the tailgater pass?
The Myvi continued to tailgate me for a long distance. Then I saw a traffic break on the middle lane which I could use to teach the fellow a lesson. I accelerated towards the car in front, the tailgater accelerated with me. When I was close to the front car I suddenly switched to the middle lane. I heard brakes squeal, the Myvi almost banged the car in front. No doubt the driving stability and electronic stability control of the Mazda 3 assisted me in executing the maneuver perfectly.
In retrospect I'm not proud of what I did. I don't care if the tailgater got into an accident but it will involve an innocent driver. So please don't copy what I did. Just ignore the tailgater or switch lane.
Later the Myvi passed me. It was a lady driver. Probably a very troubled woman.
Anyone knows how much for a replacement keyless remote control for Mazda 3? And where can get it other than from MAzda itself?
Most likely you can only get from Mazda due to the chip and programming required. I suppose you have your spare remote. They need the spare to program the new remote. If you lose both expect to pay big time.

Thanks. Yes I have the spare key, just wondering how much would it cost.

I believe there are shops that sell and install additional sound insulation. Can't recommend any as personally haven't used em. Though a good one should cost a couple thousand.
Hi guys, I'm currently eyeing a first gen Mazda 3 (2006~2009), the one I'm looking at is manufactured at 2008, and registered at 2009. Is it still worth to get it?
anyone have any experience of owning one of it? are there any problems with it? any feedback is appreciated
