#1
The sky highlight has been clipped. Overall over exposed. Check the histogram. #2 F4 is too wide, that's why your DOF is shallow. Use smaller aperture and use tripod. The composition is nice though. #3 This scene is very difficult to have the correct exposure because the sky is bright and the stall is dark. Use tripod, bracket your exposure, and merge them using layer and layer mask. #4 Try to create some diagonal line to bring out what you are trying to tell, the phone booth in this case. #5 Not bad. I like this one. #6 Good old days? I don't get it. The white is too white until the detail can't be seen. #7 The colour is flat. Some level adjustment shall fix it. #8 Having some foreground object (tree in this case) doesn't really work on every shot. I would have preferred a cleaner shot without the tree, which is kinda disturbing. #9 Rule of thrid, don't put the beach/land line in dead center. |

i would say composition is the biggest thing u need to improve in this series... try to 'read' the landscape and imagine how to make the place look interesting... this one is not technical, but more to the artistic value of a photo.. so if u ask me how, then i can;t answer u..
but some tips may help: 1. #9, the silhouette jetty does not stand out because it got mixed with the trees at the back, so it looks like half dark, half bright.. make the silhouetted lines simpler.. 2. #4, if the old phone is the focal point, just focus on the phone, not the surrounding. 3. #6, i would rather shoot some 200m - 300m away from the 'apek', and use a telephoto lens to include as many column as i could, so it will look like some kind of pattern and maybe let them to look like 'isolated'... hope this helps... |

Thanks alot for ur comments. I somehow felt landscape pics are harder to take compared to potrait shots from my previous series. The problem is i was using kit lens which might lampered some of the shots here. A 55-200 should be on my hands, hopefully soon.
Looks like i need to plan another photography trip to pd, hopefully i will improve then. |

i would have liked number 9 to be taken from near the place you were standing in number 8 (but in a recomposed scene without the tree and nearer to the water) which could have been quite dramatic should you meter off the sun to get silhouettes of the *humans and bridge, with them overlooking the water and having the sun in the background... also if you had opportunity to slow down the shutter to less than 1/15 to get a more surreal effect on the water, that would be nice too... which would have been possible since the *humans seem to have settled down anyway...
overall pictures are ok, but number 2, 4 and 7 just doesn't take the cake... |
