wow nice output there. flash fired rite? and yet nicely exposed biggrin.gif good job, u make d40 owner proud of their cam rclxms.gif

I was the only dude with a D40 that time while the rest were using D70, D50,D80, D2X and various canon dslr models. I even saw one dude with d40x. sweat.gif

QUOTE(ac98 @ Jun 18 2007, 09:19 AM)
Seems like the girls enjoy getting shot by you man Travis laugh.gif
*
Nah, i bet they even more happier if they were taken shots by shinchan n u tongue.gif

QUOTE(aba9785 @ Jun 18 2007, 01:00 PM)
no offence, still prefer your landscape/nature/sight photo
always feel like it is telling a story
tongue.gif

anyway, u really should work on composition for your portrait
or maybe your cropped it wrongly?
*
Perhaps, coz i still new in photography. Beside practising my 50mm, i need to work on my composition as well. But i need to know how to improve composition in portraits, apart of the 3 quarter rule? unsure.gif

Personally i prefer taking landscape and sight seing, esp urban life. Unfortunately ppl tend not to comment on such pics until i posted portrait. sweat.gif Well dont worry, after this i back to landscape photography, continuing my pics from my old hometown port dickson. smile.gif

QUOTE(afs @ Jun 18 2007, 02:20 PM)
Composition could be better with the above sets. Keep on practising with ur 50mm...
*
Thanks, more to come soon!

Seriously i need advise on how to improve my composition for portraits, apart from the 3 quarter rule. Pls advise.

When i PC fair fren? i'm looking forward to it also.. these past 2 weeks shot wedding only, dun hv time for landscape or experimental shots...

50mm f1.8 is a GREAT value for money lens.. if u use it to its full, the value is more than the price i would say.. becoz the 50mm f1.8 is not AF-S, so the D40 cant auto focus becoz D40 does not hv built-in motor to auto focus non AF-S lens.. correct me if im wrong.. (im a Canon user tongue.gif )

Youa re absolutely right. D40 dont have auto focus for AF lens, that explains why i found diffculty on focusing. Unless if the subject is standing still, the image uqality should be good. That explains why my previous trip to BTS was a disaster.

The next PC Fair i estimate is on August, and since most promoters are standing stationary, it will be my good oppurtunity to use my 50mm. Dont worry, we will make a "rombongan sambil belajar", ok? brows.gif (belajar improve photographylah whistling.gif )

1ST, i need to learn my manual focus. sweat.gif

Even thought the subject is stationary,

PC Fair
------------
1#. White Balance - Most of the time will be out. Carefull
2#. Indoor it is considered Low Light. Need to handheld low shutter speed
3#. Flash photography brings out attention to the surrounding and create oily face on the subject, dark background.
4#. ISO boast brings up high amount of Noises.
5# Tight area. Need lens with winder focal length.

Happy shooting .

1. Yes Boss!
2. My last pc fair pics suffered frm slighty higher shutter speed, so lesson learnt!
3. Can see those minyak from my previous PC fair pics as well, so may consider investing for SB600 or SB400 in the near future.
4. I enabled auto ISO for that. Useful featured i felt smile.gif
5. Dont really get it, but hope i realised what u meant.

Thank u sifu! notworthy.gif

yeah.. but i think with an external flash will not bring harsh lighting to the face, if u know how to use it properly.. if still want to use 50mm f1.8, then better dont take full body, just from waist upward is ok.. focus on their eyes, not body... hehe
