So any good RF blocking solution that’s available locally? FobGuard seems nice but don’t think they ship to Malaysia at least not at a reasonable shipping cost.

Do you really need to be that paranoid? I think that is the question.

Because if you are, then you might as well not even bring the fob out. Any chance that you pull the fob out of the guard because it does so good a job that you can't open the door and so co-incidentally someone is there within close enough range to capture the signals. He could in theory clone the codes already and you are as good as screwed. Paranoid talk la.

If you are that paranoid, cost is not going to be a problem else bring a custom made faraday cage out and that will be safe, customizeable and cheap AF.

At first I was planning on getting CSE Connex as a precaution but after considering the upfront 3k and yearly 300, I don’t think it’s worth it especially because comprehensive insurance will cover theft and total loss... so I wanted something cheaper to at least help prevent theft from happening in the first place. Steering lock (visual deterrent) and a fob mini faraday cage are what I settled on as economically sound ways of achieving some degree of peace of mind.

Just checked FobGuard they do ship to Penang for $17 USD which is acceptable if I don’t kena tax too much by customs, so I went ahead and ordered two lol. I’ll update here once I get them and also my car as to how well it works

QUOTE(KnightSports @ Jul 5 2018, 11:56 AM)
If you are worried about it. I don't think the RM2xx price tag is really that bad. It is after all something physical that you hold onto and you use it actively compared to car location services which is practically akin to paying for insurance. Something you don't hope to use but when you use it, it does not necessarily solve all your problems after paying all the high costs of keeping it afloat.

That is just my point of view. But, everyone is entitled to their own view and opinion.
*
Yeah I agree the RM200+ price point is fine. The car location tracking I don't really get, because if you're already getting a comprehensive insurance you're going to be compensated for the theft anyway.

QUOTE(KnightSports @ Jul 5 2018, 03:02 PM)
It is not really that.

My mentality is that if the car is gone. What is the point that you notify me the location of it.

What if at the point that the car is recovered, it is full of bullet holes or already half torn apart? and you cannot get the insurance to cover it? I might as well make sure the car cannot be traced and torch the car and call it a day.

I am not really sure what to make of it. Of course, i also had a friend where he had an instance where his car was driven from one place to another and then just dumped there with everything inside unlocked and nothing missing at all. That was a luckier scenario, but even he was not really that happy about it because psychologically he does not know what the thief did inside his car and he was not really comfortable driving it afterwards.

He was dumbfounded by why the theft took place in the first place. Maybe the thief found out the car was GPS tracked after driving off and decided to just dump it there instead.

So, this is the main reason why i think i don't like a post-warning system. I rather opt for preventive systems rather than a warning after something happens.
*
Got it, I fully agree with what you said about there being no point in attempting to recover a stolen car, unless it's only produced in limited quantities or have extra special sentimental values. On this I believe we're on the same page.

The fact that for the first few years you at least have to get comprehensive insurance and the GPS service price point IMO just further discouraged me from getting a tracker installed.

Want to ask sifu regarding down-payment.

SA ask me to bank in the down-payment directly to the dealer when i free.

May i know sifu when pay the down-payment?
1) Pay in advance 1 or 2 weeks earlier
2) When signing loan and pay cash/cheque to dealer

My situation here is SA confirmed 12/7/18 will get the car and change leather seats, puspakom and blaa blaa... most probably will get the car 2 weeks.

Tq.

My car ETA is about the same time as yours (about 15th/16th). My loan was approved earlier this week and signed 2 days ago, PBB just issued a letter of undertaking to my SA yesterday so that part of the $ is settled.

I was told by SA when Honda load my car onto the long truck their system will be notified, and he will ask me to go down to the dealership and sign a cheque to pay for insurance and downpayment. When car arrives they'll do registration with JPJ and install extra add-ons that I ordered then will be ready for pick-up hopefully 16th/17th rclxm9.gif

what tinting film you going to get?

I decided to go with my SA's offering of HyperGard tint 95% front 80% all other sides for RM1.7k. It's not cheap but this fella's been pretty helpful throughout this so I thought I'd help him out a bit.

Tint from Honda ? Any shop recommended? M still thinking want to Pasang connex or not..
*
Nah bro, just a local brand called HyperGard... 1.7k but the ratings for solar rejection quite good, 95% front, 80% all other sides. It’s done in house by Kah Motor and has 5 year warranty so I’m like why not.

QUOTE(smas @ Jul 7 2018, 12:50 PM)
So do you think that they will say you become uncle-ish if you buy an Altis? or only Mazda 3 can shut their mouth off but they still complain the legroom? Haha just live with that, unless you buy a car that above what they can afford, they will always have something to say. Your appereance and people perception towards you should be driven by your knowledge, not your car. You don't need to change them, it's your own money. Just live with it, and Civic is a good car. Anyways please don't mod until really macam ah beng lar, I hate that myself too.
*
Haha very true, I’m not going to mod it to become super beng, just adding a rear Modulo spoiler only biggrin.gif

Light footedness is key. Very little heavy acceleration is done. Average speed was 120km/h on the highway. Sometimes I do hit 140-150km/h, but not often.

rclxms.gif impressive, did you have econ mode activated the whole journey?

QUOTE(KnightSports @ Jul 9 2018, 11:29 AM)
In fact, if you use cruise control a lot. Just between Eco-Drive, Non Eco-Drive, Eco-Sport, Non Eco-Sports also you can see the trend on how it accelerates on inclines, declines and chooses the gear ratio. In non eco modes, it will try to chase up to the pre-set speeds of the cruise control while eco modes usually try to keep the economy gauge above 10km/l gradually increasing speeds up to the cruise control pre-set speeds.

If that is second gear, it won't go past 100kph right?

Furthermore, CVT where got fixed gear ratio?
*
Lol you're right, I dreaming rclxub.gif but seriously that's Sport mode? I wasn't aware our Civic have Sport mode...

Edit: manual seems to say "Drive (S): Used for better acceleration, better engine braking or for hilly terrains". Seems to imply it's simulated second gear

Civic X tered
QUOTE
S mode:
- Always varies the ratios like D, but at higher RPMs. Same for all trim levels. Tighter engagement, more engine braking off-throttle. The engine will cruise at 3000-ish RPM instead of 1500-ish like it does in D.

Wtf this S and D thing so complicated. It's bad documentation if people can't agree on what it's actually for lol.
