Even if ublur did change it will still die, because it has the same investor as grab, who doesn't want competition between them.

Uber going to include it on their next trip.

Driver collecting it on behalf won’t get anything but actually owe uber 5 ringgit πŸ˜†

Uber don't have those HG or Flexi driver like grab instead they use surge or boost as incentive for drivers. So anyone can just drive anytime they want. But nows comes under grab with only two options to select which are either HG or Flexi. So uber drive, do you foresee any income drop after uber convert to grab?

Our income will sure be affected. But I can forsee in future, the main loser will be the riders. Monopolize business is never good for consumer. Our beloved TNB is a good example, you know it better how "good" TNB treat us.

The main issue with Grab is not lower income, the main issue is their platform.

1. No cancellation fee - so, fake booking, u die. Rider put wrong location, u die. And Grab's app really sucks at detecting rider's location, so wrong location happens a lot. Again, u die. Rider no show, ask u to wait 20 minutes, u die. Rider cancel when u already reach the pick up location or nearby, u die.

2. Stupid rules - For some reason, if too many riders cancel on you, you are the one who gets punished.

3. Wrong pick up distance - Uber's app calculates the optimal route for you to go pick up the rider. So if the ping says 3km, it's 3km. If it says 10km, it's 10km. But Grab's driver app only shows you the radius of where you are to the rider. So if ping come in saying 3km, sometimes you might find that the actual route is 7km, for example.

4. Bugs and glitches - Every week sure got some bug in the app. Every few months sure got some system wide problem that affects all/majority of drivers, not just in Malaysia, but whole of SEA. Last time when this happens, riders switch to Uber. But now if this happens? The perception of Grab's reliability will get even worse, because rider's have no other e-hailing choice, so they will choose MRT/bus instead as their regular transportation to avoid Grab's system issues.

5. Fucking shit driver support - Just try it. Something you really have to experience to know.

6. Incentives calculated wrongly - I guess this counts as bugs and glitches also, but it's a severe enough problem to have its own category. Sometimes Grab's system will calculate your incentives less than what you should be earning. Then, when you contact their CS, you will understand point 5.

7. Slow payment - Grab talk big about making payments faster, but it's all still very slow. Uber's system will automatically calculate all your payments by Monday morning and straight away transfer to your bank account. By Tuesday evening you should get money in the bank already. Grab on the other hand, you have to wait until Wednesday. If they decide to be good, wait until Tuesday only. But this is only a payment into their app's Cash Wallet. Then you have to request for a cash out to your bank account. This will take another 2 days for the money to be in your bank account.

8. Grab's heat map in the app only shows you places with high demand, but it doesn't show you whether got Surge or not? You can go to red hot area, but still get normal fare price.

9. Grab's rider app doesn't show riders the real Estimated Time of Arrival. It doesn't take into account traffic conditions. So, you might take 20 minutes to reach rider, but the app told rider 10 minutes only. When this happens, refer to point 1 and 2 - u die.

What else did I miss?

Well, at least in your city grab has surge pricing, but in my city, the fare is always the same, may it be jam like hell, still remain unchanged.

10. For incentives calculations, you can't pick up the same rider more then once per week.

This was the main reason that I refuse to drive crap. It's so ridiculous for the drivers to be mindful of so many things while driving.

So will Uber drivers switch over? Let's just wait and see if they have the sense to make adjustments to their t&c.

Moreover, everyone knows their app is so crappy (both rider & driver). Can their system withstand the expected surge? After all, last week they can't even handle a simple form submission for their existing drivers to opt in for 20% commission.

A lot of their extra work and payment delays comes from gaming detection. Why can't they do this at the system level like Uber which prevents it from happening in the first place? Too stingy to hire top notch engineers?

Well, interesting times ahead with both Japanese and Uber people in their management.

Unfortunately, Uber not stingy in ensuring their system is good and they were forced to admit defeat...

Some speculate that Uber limit the use of Set Destination to prevent Ace drivers from abusing it, but I believe that server costs are also a big reason for Uber doing it. Their servers already work hard to calculate the pick up route and the drop off route and price. And the routes that their system calculates is not main2 wan! It takes into account traffic conditions. Not like Grab just use ruler. Add Set Destination and their server costs definitely very costly. I have seen more and more Uber drivers complaining about system issues recently as the takeover came closer. Probably a sign of Uber cutting costs ahead of the merger.

So sad they didn't inform their employees earlier. Really disappointed about this.

Oh right, point number

11. Grab ruler.
