Astro announced their 4K set top box yesterday. Coming later this year.

Some press images reveal the user interface, seems like it runs Astro Go. Very similar interface. Possibly an Android-running box?

never in the lifetime.. LOL.. now they come out with hardware for UHD 4K decoder.. for sure they want to push sales of it..

astro go is never meant for android tv boxes.. not to be watched on big screen TV.. it is designed for smartphones/tablets..as the name suggests.. "ASTRO ON THE GO"

they go until extent of retiring aotg on LG TV.. so dont put ur hope too high.. u won't see any 4K contents on Astro Go so soon.. unless they want to break their traditional business model and start selling subscription of pure IPTV streaming for TV

In US, directv is the nationwide cable tv provider.. users can create directv account, and you can use directv streaming app on tablet/smartphone to watch content as same like your cable tv subscription.. sounds familiar right??

Now they have come out with Directv Now (later changed to AT&T Now), where you subscribe this separate streaming service.. directv id wont work on directv now app..

astro might need to look at this business model if they want to stay relevant for more years to come..

i quit it many years ago, no idea what decoder/uhd thingy they r doing now.

if netflix can deliver 4k dd5.1 over broadband with 25mbps (actual only 15-18mbps), it means the tech is there.

but i see them holding on to decoders for control, continue to treat iptv as a free side dish, much less a real revenue biz.

When using AOTG on mobile device to stream live event I don't get any lag but when I use it my mibox s with the latest version there is visible lag even when I reduce quality to HD alr. I use the official app download from apkpure. I'm on unifi 100mbps. Can anyone help. Tq

this problem with mibox s (ATV) been said many times here... no known apk that will work.

many user problem aotg with mibox s. HD channel lag. after many complaint, i cancel buy mibox s. i buy tanix tx6 64gb ROM. aotg and unifi@playtv run very smooth. i am so happy.

we now know, for AndroidTV (ATV) os, besides shieldTV, minix T5 can also do astrogo nicely.

do u happen to use home theater?
if yes, can u do me a favor, see if this box can playback (with kodi or other player app) ) own videos on HDD and passthru dtshdma and ddtruehd audio?
