Try tune to sports channels (e.g. Astro SuperSport) and observe the video motion (smoothness of the video).
The video is it like very smooth looking ones like what you'd watch from Astro box (50fps), or the video motion appears the same as what you see on Astro Go (25fps)?

I'm not a beta tester for Astro TV app, but base on the screenshots given above, I'll just share my opinion here...

I don't like that all channel type options are shown in the same horizontal line like this:
user posted image
It makes it very "messy" and "too much unnecessary information" shown in the same page.
I prefer if they would put it a dropdown menu like the current one on Ultra Box, makes it look clean and organised...

But the good thing is, finally they put the programme info summary on top corner of the screen, which the current Ultra Box software still appear as blank (refer photo above)...
And also, a pop up menu appears (Watch, Play from Start, Record....) as you press OK to select the programme. This one good thumbup.gif

And I hope they can use other fonts in their upcoming updates... Roboto font is too commonly used... sweat.gif
If Astro wants to use a font that supports all languages (especially Chinese and Tamil characters), maybe they can consider use free fonts from the 'Google Noto Font' family for their English/Malay UI language:
https://www.google.com/get/noto/
Any modern looking fonts but not those commonly seen fonts like Roboto will do sweat.gif

Hmm... help me forward my opinion to Astro then biggrin.gif

I hope Astro software team would consider observe and study the overall UI of other existing OTT providers, where I find that these OTT especially from:
- Apple TV+ app (TV platform)
- Apple Music app (TV platform)
- Netflix (sign-in required to browse content)
- Viu (TV platform)

You can browse content and use the app without sign up/login to any account, except Netflix.

For example, Apple TV+ app.
If you have a Samsung UHD TV, the Apple TV+ app may be preinstalled itself. You can launch the app and browse the content without login/subscription.

Examples (Apple TV vs Astro Astro TV app):

See the difference in design?
I mean, this is just an example, which Astro can take other OTT provider's UI design as a reference.
Even a slight change in fonts and visual animations can affect/enhance user experience. tongue.gif

From my cheap ass opinion, no need to use high content or high graphic user interface. Just do simple2 as Unifi TV app. As long as basic option/menu ada...

Now, you will have 2 type of ID:

1. Normal Astro ID = This ID is bind to a decoder, so u must be an existing and still active astro customers to have this ID. This ID can be use in Astro On the Go app (mobile) that you can download from Playstore, Apkpure or other sources. This type of ID can't be use on Astro Smart TV App beta application. If you try to sign in your browser, it will prompt that this device already have smart tv subscription.

2. Astro Beta ID = This ID is by invitation only from Astro to non Astro customers. This ID is not bind to any Astro services or any decoder. Few lucky people like me managed to sign up the beta for rm1.06 per month, even though me myself was not invited to join in the beta program. The signup has already been closed. This ID can be sign in into the Astro Smart TV app beta application on AndroidTV OS, and also the Astrogo mobile.

Clearly here you can see that Astro plan to separate their services. One is satellite service, another is streaming service. That is why you will not be able to use normal astro ID on the smart tv app. Wait for official launch, and see how it goes from there. But I don't think they will allow normal Astro ID to use on their smart tv app. As for the beta program, it also have limitation. Only 1 smart tv (androidtv, regardless mibox, nvidia shield, tv whatsoever), and 4 other devices.

Maybe after this, we could practice sharing the account, similar to netflix.. hehehehe

Guys, need some advice...

I just installed thr latest Astro Go apk into my Mi Box S (running on Android 9). I am able to log in and scroll the main Astro Go landing pages to choose what programmes I want to watch. However, as soon as I click on either the Catch-Up stuff or any of the Live TV channels, i get a blank screen but with full audio going on. Anybody else experience this before? Is there a way to solve this?

Thanks.

I think it can't be shared that easily, since each Astro TV App account can only login on 1 smart TV device.

It's people like you that made company like AssTeruk practice such restrictive and cautious policy.

Why can't you guys just apply the beta program and wait for confirmation from them, like any normal user would?

Sikit2 mau share, sikit2 mau share smh...
