I'm using tx3 mini-A. I even reset the box. The apk is from apk pure. However I find something strange about this box, I think I got cheated, coz the ram of this box is only 1gb, but with 16gb storage. Normally I know it's either 1gb/8gb or 2gb/16gb.

My type of crash is where the app will just quit by itself and brings me back to tv box home screen. Could the issue cause by insufficient ram?

1GB system misbehaves, nothing else to blame except too little memory. The system might have killed some necessary background processes thereby causing the foreground app to crash.

You say marketing gimmick, others who can maximize or at least appreciate the bigger working table will say otherwise. smile.gif  So I'll try to keep things simple... It's all back to the Super Car vs say an Axia. Both take you from point A to B differently. One clearly has more than enough power to chug along effortlessly. Whilst the other may or may not be enough. Who needs what, depends on the driver's needs.

There are RAM and there are high quality RAM. High quality RAM can be quite expensive. The Nvidia Shield sports 3GB RAM cuz they don't want to be caught with their pants down shipping with 2GB RAM. Why need more RAM? This is a case by case basis. Some or shall I say most can get away with just 2GB RAM and others who do more serious stuffs.. Such as high graphics gaming, whilst simultaneously running a pseudo-NAS and or torrents or home server, etc in the background will benefit with having higher than 2GB RAM. Heck, I prefer setting up as much free RAM as I can to run Kodi smoothly. Caching/buffering high bitrates videos using memory equals smoother uninterrupted playback. These are just examples of use case scenarios where one can exceed 2GB RAM usage on Android.

Android is pretty efficient where RAM management is concerned. However, other factors come into play. You need a decent firmware, RAM and processor. These in combination makes all the difference in launching apps, keeping more in a "saved state" or running, or exiting and opening/switching faster between apps.

Summarily, can 2GB RAM be enough? Yes. But just because it can, doesn't mean one can't do better with more than 2GB RAM. The Nvidia Shield with their excellent processor could have shipped with only a high quality 2GB RAM. But they didn't. I assume they knew and or pictured scenarios where their users will be limited by insufficient RAM. Who knows, the next one might just be equipped with at least 4GB RAM. Like phones of today, bet 5 years ago.. We didn't think we'd be seeing or needing phones with 12GB RAM. I'm sure a ton of people today will still argue that it's useless and 3GB RAM or less is more than enough.. But hey, here we are. Granted a TV Box and a phone are different beasts. But you get my point. Will I ever use up the entire 4GB and want more in a TV Box? High chance, nope. But I know for certain, I fill up 2GB and cry for more very easily. So yeah, contrary to popular beliefs, I'd rather have more than enough than just enough or not enough.

Here are some hidden facts.

1)The TV boxes out in the market currently despite having 64-bit capable processors are limited to only 32-bit wide system bus.
2)Also they are running on 32-bit Android OS with 32-bit apps.

These are the bottlenecks restricting the current design. Also it is very rare to find 64-bit based Android TV apps that could utilize more than 2GB of RAM.
Games probably but if I wanted to play games, I'd either choose a high performance game console or a gaming PC.

Could be or simply the app doesn't play well with whatever fw you are running. Others gave some suggestions. Do verify actual HW and if really 1GB RAM? I'm sorry... Return and get your money back if possible.. Either way, either seek out other ROMs that might fare better or no choice, have to junk it and get a new box.

People already explain things to you..Give scenarios some more you still insist dunno what.. Very rare now equals impossible? pls... doh.gif

As for games... See that's the beauty of choice.. Android is versatile like that.. Some people prefer to game on Android or iOS or Macs or Consoles or PCs.. To each his own. Maybe I don't want to cough up money for a high performance game console (that pretty much does only one thing right) or even more money for a game PC rig, complete with UHD gaming monitors, controllers, stering wheels etc.. Maybe I just want a much cheaper yet beasty Android OS powered device, pair a cheapo yet versatile gamepad and just enjoy Android games? Also, when I want to play high bitrate media files, I can do the same with the same device. FYI, good luck trying to smoothly play (output full UHD + HDR10 + Dolby Atmos) high-bitrate files using your gaming rig and costing under RM1K.. I own a gaming laptop that costs at least 4 times more than the Beelink GT-King Pro and yet, where media playback is concerned.. The GT-King Pro will run circles around it.. Heck, even the GT-Mini 2 does the same..

You do you yeah.. I tire of this OT.. icon_rolleyes.gif

did u check under settings, more settings?

u can see the ino there - storage and memory.

under memory, u can see total ram of the box.

as for getting kicked out of astrogo, i have seen it with tx3mini wifi, happens sometimes but not often; doesn't happen with tx3 ethernet connected.

to be sure it is not due to wifi weak and/or unstable which can cause it, use ethernet and see if any diff.

I installed aida64 and confirmed only have 1gb ram installed. Total memory 855MB, available 300mb. Internal storage is 11.49gb. Weird. I bought it from lazada long time ago, but I didn't check that time. Just recently I play around saw the ram.

I also tired different firmware, all give the same result, frequent crash on astro go.

You can purchase a wifi router, say Tenda AC11. That will allow you to use LAN cable to your TV box.

You can't depend on these tv boxes for their wifi, unless the router is just next to it. But if tv boxes next to the router, why wifi ? It is simply just a paradox !

Looks like your tx3mini is one of the older ones, 1+16gb.

1gb is surely low, will be problematic overall.

Think time u dump it, get a real tx3. tongue.gif

Lan should be acceptable, but cap at 100 Mbit implementation.

Not a GBit implementation, what else to expect ?

Does no one else get crash while watching aotg on their box? I watch for 2 hours it crashes 2 times. I'm thinking of getting a new box but I don't know if the app itself is bad, or the box software it's bad. So frustrating

I been using tx3 for couple of days, no issues with wifi, perhaps wifi router is just beside tx3 biggrin.gif , i ditch my mix box 3 for tx3 because aotg was having shutter/lag issues , through recommendation here, i'm willing to spend the dough on tx3, now aotg is flawless. I pray it stays this way! rclxms.gif

QUOTE
As for WiFi connectivity, the Tanix TX3 S905X3 has a fairly low performance in the 5G network with its Dual Band Wifi a/b/g/n adapter and only mounts an internal antenna. In addition, the range is also not the best, the Ethernet adapter is only 10/100 and we have a very basic IR control, some classic points of hardware trimming in the cheap Box models. On the other hand we have Android bars and root selector in the system, something that is appreciated.

TX6 is better in term of wifi performance

Tx3 5g is N, not ac.... not so good.

Ethernet port is not gigabit, so max 100mbps.

Online streams need only a stable 20-30mbps.

If u have persistent connection issues, check your router.... a shitty router may be the root cause.

Keep in mind tx3 cost rm160, not rm600 or 1.2k.

Why you want to do it in Chrome and not install the apk directly ? Firestick cannot install apk ?

Yeah I remember one poster briefly mentioned about that. Seems pointing to Widevine L1 and low end device combined.
