Aiya, non-malay numbers very small in the armed forces. How many percent you think is capable to be promoted from lower/mid ranks from numbers that small?

Going by the numbers of non-malays currently in service, I 'd be surprised there is more than 5% of them in the higher ranks. This is true in almost any working environment, not just the military. Military promotion operates just like any other job promotion; influence, favoritism and work politics will still take into effect. This isn't a video game where you level up automatically.

aduiii

with small % of non-malay in malaysia military, u expect all of the % or majority of the % must be made generals or any top position in army?  doh.gif
*
of course not

but anyway... don't want to go there...

P.S. perks and benefits were better then too. now not so viable.

Btw, can you elaborate more on the bolded part
since I can give comparison from my father's time and right now directly
*
I dunno specifics as I rarely see my relatives and, well, its just old man kopitiam talk laugh.gif

But as I understand it, the salary and benefits such as housing, education, allowances etc were better then relative to what was available in the private sector at the time. But now the private sector is much more attractive.

Which is a problem for militaries worldwide, not just Msia.

No joke sad.gif 1 of my good friends really damn pissed about this

As an auditor in KL he is in an excellent profession at the forefront of developing Msian industry with great career prospects in the finance world

But (according to him) his family would rather he join the army or become cikgu or become ustaz, because in the old kampung mindset these are the respectable professions

Will  m109a5 procurement from Us be affected as a result of our vote against Us in UN meeting?

US already saying that they will take ' name' the country that voted against them and will probably cut the financial aid..

According to this websites, in 2018, malaysia will received around 2.4 m USD

not cut off funding

but their diplomats will make note of it

Australia made a cunning choice, they've always worked on building closer relations with the US

whereas UK is doing it because they are close enough that they can quarrel, like husband and wife laugh.gif

to put it kindly, everybody fears violent Arab-Muslim responses

to put it bluntly, those terrorists hold the world at ransom to their whims, and there are few govts or leaders strong enough to stand up to them

I really think Mrs Clinton would have been diplomatic enough to satisfy world politics, and cunning enough to continue prosecuting a drone war on these bastards

He asked the army to do a readiness-risk assessment in case the UN passed a resolution that would require blue helmets in Jerusalem (a call which Malaysia has answered for the past 50 years)

The pondan Hisham being one of many stupids in the malaysian government said something totally different to the public
*
is there a point to having blue helmets in Jerusalem other than to piss off the Israelis and US? laugh.gif

I really dunno mah

Have only read in Western news article that exact description: "few Usd per head per day"

DDG so the soldiers get Rm5k per month? then surely the gross pay from UN to Msia is a lot more than that! drool.gif

Footage: Al-Nusra shoots down Syrian air force warplane with guided missile
By Andrew Illingworth - 27/12/20170
user posted image
QUOTE
BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:15 A.M.)  – On Tuesday, jihadist militants of the Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda) terrorist group shot down a Syrian Arab Air Forces warplane with a shoulder-launched surface-to-air missile. Not long after the event, the organization’s media arm released footage of the engagement.

The Syrian jet, a combat-modified version on the Czech-built L-39 trainer, was engaged over the skies of Hama province whilst it was on a sortie to attack terrorist forces in the region.

Initially, the Free Syrian Army took credit for the kill, claiming that it had downed the government warplane with machine gun fire.

However, this turned out not to be the case as within hours Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham released footage of its fighters using a Strela shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missile to knock-out the Syrian warplane.

The Syrian pilot in the aircraft reportedly survived the crash only to have his throat slit and then be shot twice in the head by the jihadists who captured him.

UK sells HMS Ocean to the Brazilian Navy for £84 Million in a desperate bid to keep the armed forces afloat

*
sigh... how many times have to say also these sohais will keep reporting over and over

HMS Ocean has always been scheduled to be out of service by now, as it is built to commercial ship standards. The so-called "refit" in 2014 was to comply with environmental regulations otherwise it would have ceased serving the Royal Navy in 2014 itself, PLUS it would have reduced its resale value after. HMS Ocean is being replaced by HMS Queen Elizabeth - now that's a real carrier.

in fact it should rather be considered a coup that the Navy managed to get back its cash rather than scrap value

all this wayang only actually
