Meanwhile, HMS Diamond has an engineering problem and is returning to port rather than deploying to Persian Gulf. So all 6 Daring-class destroyers are in port:

Daring - in port, training
Diamond - heading back to port, breakdown
Dauntless - in port, refit
Dragon - in port, after training with QE2 (pic below)
Defender - in port, refit
Duncan - in port, after training with NATO SMNG2

Sucks to be the Royal Navy cry.gif

Crew in missing Argentina submarine reported leak in final message
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/crew-i...sage/ar-BBFShcD

The Argentina submarine that vanished 12 days ago sent a final, desperate message reporting a short-circuiting battery onboard, the Argentine navy said on Monday.

Enrique Balbi, a spokesman for the Argentine navy, told reporters that in the ARA San Juan's last message, the vessel’s captain said water had entered through the snorkel when the sub was charging batteries.

He said the water entered through the ventilation system to a battery connection tray in the prow and “caused a short circuit and the beginning of a fire, or smoke without flame.”

Balbi said the captain later communicated via satellite phone the problem had been contained.

“They had to electrically isolate the battery and continue sailing underwater to Mar del Plata using another battery circuit,” he added.

The San Juan, a German-built diesel-electric TR-1700 class submarine, was last heard from on Nov. 15. Hopes for survivors have been largely crushed by reports of an explosion detected near the time and place the sub went missing.

Since then, there have been no signs of the sub or debris despite an intensive multinational search. Experts have said the 44 sailors aboard had only enough oxygen to last up to 10 days if the sub remained intact but submerged.

as suspected.

The majority of airspace faced by U.S. aviators is undefended, or “permissive,” the vast majority of the time — as clearly evidenced by the lack of combat losses.

I "whut" at the infographic - Para receive Goose Green, Gurkha receive Falklands??? rclxub.gif

not surprised. SEALs and US SF ("Green Berets") also have reported similar clashes on exercises before. probably won't affect battlefield performance lah.

So everybody deployed in whatever first. Then sit ther getting ready. Some guys managed to change into desert gear, some were lucky enough to get brown paint and just throw on the tanks... better than nothing laugh.gif

Logically why in the world would Malaysia give them the new uniforms when ATM themselves don't have enough?why not give them the old celoreng?OR the desert celoreng already in theatre in Lebanon?

Sure these people don't have enough ammo and explosives but let's send them our new camo designed for South East Asia for them to fight urban warfare in and risk getting caught and assfucked by the UN instead of sending money so they can smuggle RPGs and AKs from Egypt like normal people meanwhile the IDF doesn't even use camo, logik sial

Australia was very interested with the Soryu submarine and at that time was the frontrunner. NAVAL Group (DCNS) beat them in the end.
*
And UK considered the Kawasaki P-1 for their MPA, but in the end P-8 Poseidon won out (sensibly)

US gear is more trusted cause it has been rigorously tested in exercises and combat. As for the Soryu, IINM it doesn't really fit some of Aus requirements.

Cmiiw...i think it was because the Japanese refusal to share some of the Soryu advanced submarine technology.

can't remember exactly. I seem to remember some operational technical stuff too.

could have been that. because like us, Australia insist on domestic shipbuilding. jobs....
