QUOTE(Spitzer @ Sep 9 2025, 02:41 PM) fellow peeps who should be more informed about TV tech then me, i got a q: i want to change my existing 65" oled tv since it doesn't have have earc to support dolby (real waste as i just got a arc ultra, 2x era300, 2x sub4). Would it be wise for me to go for a qned tv? specifically this - "LG 75-inch QNED92 QNED evo". Would the image quality drop noticeable enough for me to actually regret moving from OLED or QNED? My budget allows me to go for a 65" oled, but it seems rather stupid to me as i'm practically paying 10k just to get earc port. Going for 75" oled did not pass the ministry of home finance after just recently having those sonos shipped in... Totally a degrade. Once u had used oled tv, it will be hard to move back to normal lcd even mini led.

QUOTE(westlife @ Oct 10 2025, 08:48 PM) Totally a degrade. Once u had used oled tv, it will be hard to move back to normal lcd even mini led. I have both and mini LED fares better in my bright living room. I was using OLED previously and the brightness is just not good enough in bright room, so I had to move OLED to upstairs living room which is darker and purchase mini LED for living room.

OLED has QD-OLED variant also which is higher end and have the same brightness like mini-led. To me, it is the best TV one can buy without any compromisation in terms of picture quality, brightness etc. OLED is not bright enough, but this can be easily resolved by having a good blackout curtain that can block out sunlight to prevent for glare/reflection. Whoever has used OLED before will know mini-LED can never beat OLED even the highest end one, except brightness alone.

Hi all, my trusty Sony 65β is dying (vertical line on top) so Iβm upgrading β aiming 85β or larger. Current shortlist: β’ TCL 98C6K (huge β tempting for immersion) β’ TCL 85C8K (more conventional 85β option) β’ Sony BRAVIA XR-90 85β (about RM4k more than the TCLs)
I donβt have a strong brand preference, just want the best TV for the living room β movies, Netflix, some HDR, and occasional gaming (PS5). Things I care about: β’ Picture quality: blacks, contrast, HDR tone-mapping, blooming/halo around bright objects β’ Brightness (for daytime viewing), local dimming performance β’ Motion clarity (sports and fast action) β’ Gaming: HDMI 2.1 features (VRR, 4K@120, ALLM) and input lag β’ Smart platform stability and app availability (esp. Netflix/Prime) β’ Panel uniformity on large sizes (any backlight clouding / vertical banding) β’ Reliability and after-sales/service in Malaysia (panel replacement experience?) β’ Value at the price (is Sony worth +RM4k?)
Questions
1. Anyone using the 98C6K β is panel uniformity / blooming an issue at that size? 2. 85C8K vs XR-90: real-world picture/gaming differences worth the extra Sony price? 3. Any known QC or service problems with TCL in Malaysia vs Sony? 4. Which should I prioritize: bigger size (98β) or better processing/picture (Sony)?

QUOTE(GamersFamilia @ Nov 16 2025, 12:46 PM) Tell us your budget ππ Budget rm3k but if there something a bit more expensive but can last longer I donβt mind to top up? My current tv is 14 years old and the only reason I want to upgrade is because it doesnβt have smart tv features.
