anyone updated to the new A14 bios? any problems with it? dell support says its an urgent critical update which includes critical microcode updates from Intel. was reluctant to update as afraid might cause probs.

QUOTE(popiah04 @ May 29 2007, 11:07 AM)
fellas, i have a funny situation here.

i'm using bitcomet for my torrenting. my idle usage would be around 500/1000mb ram. after i leave my comp switched on, say 2-3hours, my idle usage left about 200/1000mb. my bitcomet tends to "eat" up my resources. this makes my comp a bit lag when i tried to open up other programs. all i have to do is reset my bitcomet, and its back to normal.
i've checked with a friend of mine, he torrents 24/7 and his bitcomet program is running fine, unlike mine (both using the same version). any opinions regarding this?

P/s i'm asking here 'cause i'm experiencing this situation with my laptop.
*
used to face the same prob like yours last time but after formatted my comp & upgraded bitcomet to the latest version..everything run smoothly. no lag or whatsoever even torrent for 24/7. but u should try change to utorrent. not so troublesome. smile.gif

i cant use utorrent without port forwarding, i dunno why.
and i cant port forward, cause i'm sharing the line with other ppl.
i guess i'll try with the new version then. but i like the old version more, the interface looks better and easier to handle.
*
i didnt port forward with my DLink also. torrent speed still normal & acceptable. new version is still user-friendly. dont worry. smile.gif

Hey guys, dell offering 1gb --> 2gb ram upgrade this week, so im thinking of getting the following :
any advice could be given ?
anyone know any usable dell coupons happy.gif ?

DELL INSPIRON(tm) 6400 NOTEBOOK
Intel(R) Core™2 Duo Processor T7200 2GHz,
4MB Cache, 667 MHz FSB
Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
Microsoft(R) Works 8.5
120GB
2GB (2 X 1024MB) 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
Internal 8X DVD+/-RW
256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7300 TurboCache
Integrated Stereo Sound
Wireless & Bluetooth
15.4" Wide Screen XGA TFT Display with Truelife
3 Yrs Limited Warranty

RM4459

btw, should i get the 3 years complete cover... im not really sure on that point,
pls do advice  tongue.gif
*
all the spec seems ok already. just opt for ATI x1400 rather than Geforce 7300 as x1400 has better graphic performance. get the 3 yrs complete cover if its in ur budget as it's a very good warranty. pay extra few hundred bucks for a worry-free period of 3 yrs for ur lappy. CC covers any accidental damage against ur lappy includes drops, water spills etc. smile.gif

If your bring your laptop, you can request to test on the spot. If not, test using their pc also can.

I am using a 250GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 with G3 casing.

I got my set from ngbh

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=133412&hl=

his shop is in SS15 Subang Jaya.
*
how much u bought it with the casing? wanted to get an external HDD but like stuck between 2.5" & 3.5". wanted portability but cheap & has big amount of space. think nth comes cheap. sad.gif

*
mind to let us know ur lappy's specs? i guess 55 average is quite normal for net surfing. its in a fan or aircon room? mine hovers around the range like yours too. hardly gaming so not so sure about when gaming but normally not more than 60 i guess. not sure about others tho. smile.gif

Can someone confirm that Kingston 2x 1GB PC667 DDR2 SODIMM RAM will run dual channel in 6400? Cos saw the price is RM118 per piece and very tempted to replace my 2x 512MB!
*
QUOTE(Eisenmeteor @ Jun 5 2007, 03:52 PM)
So the temp control software thing,iz it good? And wat's the optimum temp for this lappy and wat temp consider super high?
*
@ stacko : RAM is so cheap nowadays. is the brand Kingston?

@ Eisenmeteor : yup. it's a good software. helps u to check ur lappy's temp (CPU,HDD,GC & RAM) from time to time. can manually control it or just BIOS control it for u & just monitor the temp. the temp depends on lappy's CPU. Core 2 Duo tends to be a lil bit hotter than Core Duo. i think normal idle temp for CPU is around 40+ - 50 + celcius. anything more than 70 is consider high unless a lot of processes is running. correct me if i was wrong. smile.gif

So how do u guyz get rid of the dust on the LCd? Thinking of using a cellotape..
*
just use a cloth with abit of water to wipe the dust off. just make sure the cloth is the smooth surface type which won't scratch the screen. have been using this technic since bought my 6400 1 year plus ago. smile.gif

The performance for AMD X2 is almost on par wif core duo .... as ur dad not really need to use core duo performance , tis AMD x2 is more than enuf for ur dad office use d .... biggrin.gif ....

The upgrade for 17' to 19' is around Rm140 ... and free 2gb ram which worth around Rm300 overall ... it is a good deal for anyone who wanna get a performance wise pc wif cheaper price and fantastic warranty service ... i advice u to make an online order now ...tongue.gif icon_idea.gif  icon_idea.gif

haha..good recommendation bro. just not familiar abot AMD as its new to me. is it better than P4? bought it dy. RM2.4K with 19" LCD, 2GB DDR2, Athlon X2 3800+, integrated nVidia 6150 LE and 3 yrs Limited Warranty. rclxms.gif damn i'm a big fan of Dell. biggrin.gif
