If you are running iperf3 using laptop, try disable any firewall (including the one in your antivirus) on both server and client side.

Also, try run iperf3 using the "-w 433M" option for your Intel wireless supporting 433 Mbps Tx/Rx rate. You might also want to try "-R" to reverse the server and client sending.

I had turned off QoS, but it just the same. tried iperf, max can get ~230Mbps. also tried move router to other area (without wan access) for wifi testing purpose, to avoid interference. but the result just the same.

1) for wifi 5G, max speed I can get is only ~200mbps. I even run the test near to router to reduce the interference, but the speed result is just the same. is there is any way to improve the wifi speed?
Which wireless device are you using? Result is normal for 1x1 device. 2x2 can get around 330mbps for my case - Galaxy Note8 and OnePlus 5T. 3x3 even more. And of course 4x4 is the best. biggrin.gif

I dont know how to check whether my devices support either 1x1, 2x2, or 3x3. Can you share how to check eh? btw, I run the test from different devices (Laptop with Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165; Xiaomi Mi A1, Ipad pro and Ipad Wifi, AFTV3. All give the same speed)

Not hard to know. Just check the maximum connected speed on your mobile device when just beside router. 433mbps for 1x1. 866mbps for 2x2. And so on...

If you use Apple products such as iPad, try disable all these function in your router:

All Beamforming
Airtime fairness
MU MIMO
Roaming assistant

If you make a search in SNBForums, the place where you can find and chat with RMerlin, you will find quite a lot of discussion about Apple products compatibility issue with all kind of routers except their own AirPort.

If you are using stock firmware, try update to the latest version, as it says this version "fixed wifi stability issue".

2 days ago, my ac86u suddenly lost connection and the led lights went out. power cycled the router and the lights came back up briefly but went off again after few seconds. left it overnight and tried different power adapter etc same problem.

was about to send the router back to rma but found some links that mentioned similar symptoms when a firmware upgrade went wrong.

anyway last resort, tried the firmware restoration procedure mentioned in the manual. restored successfully, then reapplied the saved settings from my backup and have it up and running within 15 mins.

no idea what caused the errors though, because i wasnt flashing the firmware or anything when it happened. probably corrupted itself during a power trip or something.

just leaving this here in case anyone face similar problems in the future.

Confirmed the 5Ghz faulty even with Asus Stock Firmware.
Opening a support case with Asus and see how to RMA China unit.

Received the unit and installed 2 x 70mm 12V fan connected to the USB 2.0 port.
So far running well.

The original firmware by Asus doesn't come with the temperature feature.

You have to flash it to Merlin

I just bought the China unit. Any way for me to bypass the wizard on first boot and go directly to main page? I need to change the language first to English however there is no option to do so in the wizard page. Thanks!

edit: NVM. Navigated my way though the wizard with google translate and got to the main page.
