Hey guys. Just wanted to ask..

1. If I take either P99 or P78, do they deduct the hotspot quota if connect to hotspot using laptop?

2. Does it effect the hotspot quota if tether to laptop?

3. Is it possible if I put the sim card in a usb modem and connect it to my laptop?

Thanks guys!

anyone using U mobile with GPS signal lost problem?

this is frustrating, i already set my phone location mode to GPS only, but still it is impacting the GPS signal.

I don’t think GPS is a service provided by telco? Although GPS is making use of the cell tower for better positioning.

i am facing no GPS signal recently and i thought it was my phone problem. previously, it was fine and the GPS problem happened just 3 weeks ago.
Good to know i am not the only one facing such issue. I suspect umobile did something to their AGPS setting maybe, but not sure.

Actually how is the hotspot data counted? Is this only available under the Broadband plan?

I am thinking of subscribing to their plan and using a usb modem, plug it to a router and share the connection as wifi to other devices?
i think some router supports this kind of function but for umobile plans is this possible?
How will the data be counted under this arrangement?

Works fine on my note 8, s8+ and Android car player.

GPS should be able to work without agps

That is counted as hotspot. It is quite trivial for them to see that the packets went through your router before going to them. There's 'ways' to get around this (which people have tried on webe for example), but telco controls your complete access so it's more trouble than its worth to try and 'cheat' them.

Of course this forum does not discuss any such methods yah (webe thread had this strict rule).

may i know what phone are you using?

i'm using xioami redmi note 4 snapdragon

some how u mobile seems to be aware of the issue. i called them, they adviced me to change the data to 3g ONLY, and then select manually the network selection, which is 'u mobile 3g' ... and said that the 4g is not stable.

GPS only is damn slow one, takes 3-5 minutes to get any sort of lock (and only works with good GPS, you're using a Xiaomi which normally have terrible GPS).

EDIT: Wah just saw your video. Jia lat that's a horrible problem. Try another sim card?

i had another xiaomi phone, old redmi 1s, using celcom line without data plan, locks within 3 seconds. almost every time. sometimes take longer time.

not sure if it's the phone problem or u mobile....

if it is phone prb... why it can lock instantly when i turn on flight mode?
if it is telco prb, why sometimes when it locks (end of the video) it is able to lock?

it is frustrating.

i am using moto x style. didn't used to had such a problem before until like 3-4 weeks back and i thought it's time to change phone shocking.gif
Luckily i came about your post.

And i've been using 3G-only all this while (since umobile's 4G is not that fantastic).
Anyways, will see if there are other settings on the phone which i can tinkle around.

Have you tired using an app called GPS Status to clear the internal GPS state and re-download a-gps data? i saw this solution being recommended on the Waze help page, but so far the problem persisted.

Not trying to "cheat" them. Actually looking for better alternatives to my current lousy Streamyx service and was thinking since i am their user tempted to give their broadband a try. And while at it, since my home network is already setup to the current wifi router which i just bought and have this dongle port, maybe i can fully utilize this feature.

Btw, hotspot way means data is counted differently and not from the allocated quota, i.e. 12GB for their rm68 plan?

another questions is if i tether from my phone and more than one device is connected, is this also considered hotspot?

sorry for my noob questions.

Hotspot is whenever a different device is using the data (not the phone or modem the SIM card is in). The data is counted differently for some telcos/plans (starting from webe) including u mobiles plans.

Same issue happening on my wife's phone (Redmi Note 4 on Umobile P38). Waze cannot lock into the gps signal. Exact situation as per your video.

However, issue not happening on my phone (Redmi Note 2 on Umobile P38).

Will try to troubleshoot further and post if I come across any solutions.
